First time at this particular Bonchon location, and honestly, I left a little disappointed, especially compared to other locations I've visited in the past. I guess not all Bonchons are the same and now that I have looked at the Yelp reviews for this location, I can understand why. My own fault for not checking before just dropping in. I was just passing through the area and stopped in for their $1 wing special with an order of sweet potato fries. The wings were decent, tasty for an average wing, but noticeably below the Bonchon standard I remembered. Very minimal sauce, and no pickled radish either, which I've always considered a staple of the Bonchon experience. My guess is the $1 special comes with some corners being cut. The fries felt like a noticeably smaller portion than what you'd normally get, which added to the disappointment. Bonchon, you offered $1 wing special, don't cut the amount of fries I paid full price for! Service was mostly self service, self-order via kiosk, water refill station, think cafeteria style where you get handed your food on a tray and you do the rest. The staff member who checked in on me while I was ordering on the kiosk was polite. The restaurant was pretty quiet during dinner time, just one other dine-in table and a couple of takeout orders while I was there. Overall, a mediocre visit. The wings were still enjoyable, but if you're going to offer a deal, don't let it downgrade the whole experience. It should entice me to come back another time. This is the best fried chicken I've ever had. Gloria is always so attentive and kind whenever I go, and she explains everything really well. I'm a regular here and make sure to go once a week. The chicken is always fried crispy and savory, and it's amazing with soda. The price also seems to have gone down a bit, which makes it even more satisfying. This spot was recommended to me. Located in a shopping plaza there's free and easy parking. You place your order on a kiosk and they'll bring it to you. This location has a few tables inside . My group of 7 fit comfortably. I ordered the mixed chicken . The flavors I chose were original and soy garlic. The drumsticks were light and crunchy. I paired it with their pickled radish side and their new limited Korean cucumber salad. I liked that there were multiple veggie options to balance the fried. I been to the old Franklin Farm location before and now trying this re-open location. I feel like it is actually in the same location as before? The concept is now different. It is more like a take out. I think there is like maybe less than 20 seats. 2 self serve kiosks. Make your order and take a number for your order. I got the lunch special 4 wings with 2 drumsticks spicy. I got the rice as side for the meal. Overall, the wings are a bit smaller but the drumsticks are on par. I like the heat level for spicy. Also both my drumsticks and wings were very juicy. I would say my drumsticks had a hint of gaminess. The lunch special would have been worth the price if a fountain drink was included. I am a frequent customer of another location of this restaurant. I always order the same thing: wings. I came to this location because I was in the area and craving the wings. Unfortunately, the reviews are accurate. The food at this location just does not hold up to the other locations. The chicken didn't seem twice fried. They were were thrown haphazardly into the box so there was sauce smeared everywhere. I used to love Bonchon when I lived in VA about ten years ago. I have been back to two recently the first in Sterling and the second in Herndon. First they were both dead, no one there. This was the worst Bon Chon experience. We have been to multiple Bon Chons in the past, and we were very disappointed today. We ordered the large combo (half and half) and seasoned zucchini fries. First, the wings lacked flavor and were dry. My boyfriend loves wings but even he could not finish these. The sizing of the wings had huge discrepancies (see photo). It's as if they threw in a few big wings as a response to prior reviews that the wings were too small. One of my favorite parts of eating Korean fried chicken is having refreshing pickled radish between bites of chicken. This was my first time to this location and the space is rather small so if you're coming with 6 or more guests I would give them a call and ask if they have availability and can accommodate. We called ahead and placed our order for the wings because it takes about a half hour to cook and we were arriving late in the day and didn't want to delay their closing time. The wings came out shortly after we were sat and they were as good as always. We also ordered a side of French fries and steamed rice. The rice came out with dark spots on it. The waiter explained that it's from the bottom of the pot and replaced it with a new one after we requested a replacement. The service was pretty bad. The server got the drinks wrong, had to come back to double check the orders, didn't bring requested items and didn't know the menu. But there were also problems in the kitchen. Items that weren't supposed to be spicy were, like the chicken katsu for the kids. The spicy was inconsistent...some chicken was super spicy and others you wondered if they forgot to add the sauce at all. Biggest downside was that the chicken was dry...especially the boneless chicken, where I could barely chew in it, and would have probably broken a few teeth if I tried to chew any harder. You can get one of three options including drum sticks, wings or boneless (which i got). You can get either the soy garlic or hot sauce and i got a mix of both. For 10 wings it cost approx $13 plus tip! So filling that i could only eat half of the dish. It even came with complimentary sour radish. I liked the service and the low key environment. My orders usually consists of either a small (10 pieces) or large (30 pieces) order of Soy Garlic Wings and a couple orders of rice for the group. The preparation times I've been told on the phone have been accurate each time - between 20-30 minutes depending on the size of my order. The chicken is always hot and perfect for when we still have to drive to our destination. Regardless of whether I order in New York, New Jersey or Virginia, the chicken is always cooked consistently.
