You can order online, in person, or at the kiosks. Popcorn chicken was just okay- it was over fried, so the texture was stringy and unpleasant. I thought the 5 spice seasoning was nice. The chicken had some fatty bites which I didn't love. The skewer isn't worth getting- it doesn't seem made in house and it's tiny (smaller than my palm). In a sea full of Korean restaurants it's really nice to see a Chinese restaurant in the area! This was my first time coming here and I ordered the chicken with tomato egg and mango pomelo smoothie. Everything came out very quick and the worker even brought the food and drink to my table. The entree was a very generous portion and the flavor was great! The mango pomelo was already very refreshing and I love the real mango chunks and jelly that it comes with. Ignore the matcha drink in the picture as I got that from one of the nearby stores. HKTH is in a shopping center with plenty of parking. You order everything from 1 of 2 kiosks and your order is ready right away! There are 6 tables and plenty of seating! The two staff members that made my smoothie and dish were helpful in choosing the right sauce for me. I first had Chinese Spicy on the side, but it wasn't spicy at all. I was provided chili oil and spicy mayo, both of which were better options, but I'd probably get the dry spicy seasoning next time. The chicken was fried to perfection and stayed hot for a while! For smoothie, I enjoyed the Coffee Oreo Smoothie with Brown sugar boba, a first for me. It was DELICIOUS and I don't even remember drinking it until I was on my last gulp! I watched as they made it, and there is a TON of mango syrup that goes in there, so even though I got less sweet, it was VERY sweet. Couldn't taste the tea at all. ~Thai Tea (2/5): could not taste even a bit of thai tea flavor. Tasted like sweet watery milk? Very disappointed ~Boba (3/5): boba was okay. I'm guessing this is a new establishment since there aren't many Yelp reviews? I was on my 30 minute lunch period from work and didn't pack any food so swung by to order the popcorn chicken and a boba. They do offer less popcorn chicken compared to other establishments I've been to. I wish they also offered a spicy version of it. Otherwise it still tasted good and came out hot. I ordered the taro milk tea as well and I felt it was about average. Most of their drinks appear powder based rather than the actual making of teas and making it into a boba beverage. I spoke with the owner and they're working on getting seating with tables soon in the establishment. That way people can sit and hangout. I wouldn't mind coming back again for a quick bite/drink, but I wouldn't say it's my first choice. read more

I got the Hong Kong milk tea with pearls - 3.5/5 Had this again and the taste was better and less watery! I did actually like the pearls, they're a bit softer than some other places but still had chewiness and was very seasoned with brown sugar which a lot of other places get wrong! Tapioca special Hong Kong milk tea - 3/5 good but a bit too creamy (for my taste, this tea was supposed to be a creamier version). Jian bing guo zi - 2.75/5 with crispy. Very familiar Chinese pancake taste and little fillings to make it better! I thin it was made well just needs more filling or some kind of sauce to make it more fun and delicious to eat! Came by for a dessert boba after lunch and HK tea House didn't disappoint! We ordered a hot HK milk tea and a hot Osmanthus oolong milk tea, both with boba. I like using the kiosk because there's pictures of all the items so we scrolled through all the various drink, food, and dessert options. Liked that they had some very unique tea and smoothie options! And they have a black sesame drink!! My osmanthus tea actually didn't have a hot option on the kiosk but the server was nice enough to make it hot for me which was a huge plus on this cold, rainy day! Really liked the comforting taste of the HK tea. Another reviewer said the tea flavour was weak, which I can see, but I like that it was a smooth mild flavour. The osmanthus had a nice floral flavour. The honey boba was a perfect, soft and chewy texture. I'm glad I ordered both teas with less sugar because the bobas were sweet enough. You also can adjust the sugar level to your taste. Tapioca pearls were very soft, sweet and chewy. The fruit tea drinks are currently 50% off! They come with toppings too. What a steal. The mango fruit tea was refreshing. I honestly thought this place was going to taste generic and artificial because it wasn't aesthetically pleasing as other places but it exceeded my expectations. They have self ordering kiosks which are convenient. I just ordered a Boba Milk Tea and it honestly wasn't busy at the time I went but it still took a little while for one drink, but I understand they're still learning and training. Felt very welcomed and enjoyed the overall experience and will be back. I saw the popcorn chicken and immediately I thought of a couple similar dishes such as Taiwanese fried chicken. My go to place for the TFC closed last year so I had to try this one. Flavors and seasonings tasted fairly similar except for it was missing the basil. I loved the popcorn chicken-crunchy and tender! This is a small fast casual cafe with almost excessive ordering options including online, in-store with a human, and in-store on one of two self-ordering kiosks. I say almost excessive because the store is really small with limited seating and didn't seem busy when I went (Sunday afternoon), and I felt like they could easily survive with just in-store ordering without the need for online or kiosk options. Unless they get busy some other time of week? Service was quite friendly at least, with the counter staff happily greeting me even as I used a self serve kiosk. E8 jian Bing Guo Zi: This contains Chinese sausage which is quite mild and easy-to-eat, and a crispy layer that seemed almost like a deep fried piece of flatbread. So the crunchy texture is fun, but aside from the crunchy piece this dish came across as somewhat mushy and easy to fall apart. F2 passion Fruit Lemon Black Tea: We ordered this as "less sweet" which still seemed sweet enough for me. I will say that the taste of this tea does not come across as "expensive" compared to higher priced tea shops in the area, it's like you get what you pay for and it tastes somewhat elementary. The drink cost $3.99 which I feel is very good in an area where bubble/boba tea can start over $6. Y2 mango Yogurt: Same as above, it's fine if you order as "less sweet", and tastes somewhat elementary. Not as refined as say, Yomie's Rice x Yogurt in Annandale. This place is fine if you're looking for inexpensive snacks & teas without regard for quality. There's not a lot of Chinese options in Centreville, or honestly anywhere in Northern Virginia, so this will do. But if you're comparing to other cities with a high population of HK people (ex. NYC, SF, Toronto, Vancouver), the food & beverage options here would never be able to keep up in those cities. Heck, I've even had better jian bing in Rockville MD. read more

Had a lot of expectations on Hong Kong Tea House having tried multiple hong kong style milk tea in East Asia however it was far from the real authentic taste. The tea was a too watery and lacked the flavors of hong kong tea. However, the vibes of the place are cute despite it being on the small end in terms of space.
