One of the best Bonchons I have been to. It really sucks that we no longer have them in Columbus. But, while I was in the area, I got my Bonchon fix. Everything was fresh and hot. This was my first time trying the seasoned fries, they were a bit salty, but still tasty. The Soy Garlic wings are the best wings you can ever have! The Yangnyeom wings were a bit too spicy for me. They give the biggest drumsticks ever! We love bonchon and this place is even better because they don't skimp on their chicken. Service is friendly, can order ahead online for simple pick up or dine in (small but there are tables and chairs). Go for the original spicy. But if you don't, you'll still enjoy the crispy AF chicken. The sides are sublime. Japchae can round out your chicken to make it a great meal. Order the chicken. Get it with bones. It's annoying but it tastes amazing vs the boneless. Don't get me wrong, boneless is good too but that crisp that is Korean fried chicken is best experienced with wings or drumsticks. So this was my first time trying this place. I happened to stop at FedEx almost right next to it and had never seen or heard of them before so I figured I would stop in and get something small for me and My boyfriend to share they are a little pricey. It was $13.99 for this chicken sandwich and fries. I will say it's something that you should eat when it's served. Not wait. I say that because by the time I got home the fries were soggy. The chicken was okay. It was a little tough on the ends. I thought it was odd though that there wasn't a full piece of chicken on there. It was almost like two pieces. Kind of weird. I did like the taste of the coleslaw that was on the sandwich. I didn't taste the sauce that I chose though. It was the least hot one because my boyfriend can't have spices. soy garlic something so it wasn't a great experience. I'd like to maybe go back one time and try their sampler but in house. Not sure if it was because of the grease that they cook it in or how much it is that caused it to do that. This is Korean fast food, in every respect of the word. The restaurant is small inside, with a smattering of tables in a very clean and bright space. You can call in or order online, and they tell you it will be done in 10 minutes -- I didn't have an opportunity to test that, as I was 20 minutes away, but my food was done and bagged when I got there. And it's hearty, substantial food -- Korean style. I ordered the 6 chicken drumsticks with Korean BBQ sauce. The sauce was delicious, but the drumsticks (actually 4 drumsticks and 2 chicken wing sections) -- weren't as tender as I expected, though they were okay. The street corn was the real revelation here -- it had a sweet taste, and the sauce complimented the corn kernels well, and did I taste a little bit of cheese in there? The bulgogi I ordered was pretty good taste-wise, but could have been more tender, and could have benefited from a little more sauce. My husband and daughter were really looking forward to trying Bonchon, I was neutral but agreed to at least give Bonchon a try. We got to the location on a Saturday afternoon, there was no crowd but three tables with diners. The cashier was friendly and the shop was clean. My daughter ordered the Bulgogi Fried Rice with a 6 piece of Boneless half and half, with pickled radish. My husband ordered the Korean tacos, 8 piece Boneless with Soy Garlic, and pork potstickers. I settled on the 8 piece Boneless spicy with a side of cole slaw. The order took 10-15 minutes to get which was a bit longer than we expected since the restaurant was pretty quiet. My husband said the potstickers and tacos were pretty good, and my daughter said the Bulgogi Fried Rice was tasty. Everyone was disappointed with the boneless chicken orders. The portion sizes look very small and will definitely not be ordered again if we decide on Bonchon in the future. My boneless chicken with spicy sauce tasted fine, but the portion left much to be desired. The complimentary side of cole slaw is about three forkfuls of typical cole slaw in a 2-ounce plastic souffle cup which would normally be used for condiments or samples. My daughter was wanting an order of Kimchi but decided against it when only Pickled Radish or Coleslaw were options for complimentary sides. The trip to Bonchon was disappointing, perhaps my expectations were too high. We also got a 3-piece order of Mochi ice cream which was good, but you can buy a whole box at Wal Mart or Kroger for the price of 3 at Bonchon. The spicy wasn't as spicy as it was in Korea but dialed down slightly I think for the USA taste preference. However if you don't like spicy it is still very spicy compared to other US chicken places. Sooooo excited Bonchon opened finally!!! I had it once in Columbus and it was great. The chicken had the perfect crisp on the outside, yet moist on the inside. Not sure if they can do original only, but soy and spicy were the sauces offered. The spicy was a bit too spicy for me, but I'm pretty lame when it comes to spice levels. The soy chicken was excellent. Definitely recommend getting the fried chicken with bones, over the boneless chicken to get more flavor. I had a great experience here! It was 20 minutes before closing but I was in the area and I've never had Bonchon before. The woman who answered the phone was really patient and kind while I went through the menu online to make my selection. She was honest with her recommendations which I appreciate. I ordered the soy garlic/ spicy small combo drumstick/wing, fries and bulgogi fried rice. Everything was excellent! Sadly, after three meals with this franchise --one on site and two deliveries, I regret to report it's the worst I've experienced by a longshot. What makes Korean chicken special is a double-frying and battering process that makes it extra crunchy, locks in flavors and absorbs more of the sauces. Bonchon is a successful large international business. Knowing that, I'm quite disappointed with this establishment. I haven't been to any other Bonchons so I'm unable to comment on the company as a whole but this one needs to do something about their flavors. The service is great. People are friendly. The food takes quite a while to come out but that's understandable since it needs to be fried twice. To this point, the chicken is very crispy. The good kind of crispy, not hard. Where my issue lies is that the flavors were lacking. You can feel the heat on the hot wings but there isn't any flavor. Teriyaki wings taste fine the first few bites but get progressively hard to eat unless you alternate between spicy and teriyaki. read more

I had driven past signs on this location before it opened and finally got around to checking it out last night with my wife. It definitely met and exceeded my expectations, and I'm looking forward to coming back. We arrived at 6PM on a weeknight. There is a small seating area inside, 6 tables, and a new outdoor patio area that is not setup yet. They've only been open 2-3 months at this point. We found the restaurant about 2/3 full. It's a small, but open, airy space. We ordered at the counter, and had our food brought out to our table within 10 minutes. There are two individual bathrooms. Bonchon is located in a shopping strip with ample free parking right outside. We ordered a combo of drumsticks and wings, with half original and half spicy sauce. The chicken was hot, and moist inside, and perfectly crispy outside. The pieces were large. The original sauce was fairly bland, and the spicy was just a little spicier than I would have preferred. I might ask them to mix the sauces next time if they are able to. We also had the chicken katsu, which was a generous portion, and equally delicious. For sides, we tried the Korean street corn, which was delicious. Not even sure how to describe it, but I will always get it when I come back. We also had the seasoned fries, which are just normal french fries. I thought the seasoning would be something special, but it's not. They were fresh, crispy and still good though! read more

Annoying policy they have is no wing sauce on side so if you didn't get enough sauce you are out of luck. They say it is because they paint the wings and it would be too concentrated. Tried this place last week and it was amazing. Hot, crispy, flavorful. Staff are polite and had hustle. Ordered again tonight for a takeout order, and apparently wasted 50$. First, they were slammed, understandably because it is so good. But when your place is physically packed to the gills and your kitchen can't keep up-- you need to turn online/app ordering off! Sides I paid extra for barely had any more inside than the complimentary ones you get with the combo meal. The fried chicken was barely cooked and soooo soggy. The coating on the chicken was only half on the pieces and was like wet carpet falling off them. Waited almost an hour for my order, and they still had the audacity to charge me for side of the wasabi sauce, meanwhile I saw them giving free drinks to others who waited. Not cool. I'm not a snob. but I admit the choices in Ohio don't impress me at all. this food reminds of gas station food. chicken was tastele, the crust was hard- not crispy. rubber like or chewy. the chicken nuggets resemble a breaded deep fried yellow fat that you'd throw away after cleaning a chicken before cooking it. even chicken nuggets from McDonald's would look and taste better. the Tonkatsu was like styrofoam or cardboard. the crust is like a day old crumb, oily, covered in Gochujang, maybe? Coleslaw was watery, and probably a generic box brand. Don't expect fresh. read more

The soy garlic is salty and slightly sweet, a mild flavor but very tasty. The spicy hit this jalapeno-level girl on a build up at the end. It was a little too much for me. My husband loved it though. We also had fried rice with bulgogi and a fried rice with no onions. All instructions were followed to the letter. The portion is a between a side and a full meal and tasted good but it seemed put together, not cooked together if you know what I mean. Other foods were cole slaw (simple, tasty, no onions); kimchi cole slaw (pretty spicy for me and very tart); pot stickers (mild flavor, very crisp and delicious), pickled radish (daikon, mild sweet and sour, very good and crisp and refreshing).
