We have been to many BonChon's from D.C. to L.A. and we were disappointed with the chicken at this location. The nice server delivered it to the table and we were all in shock by the way it looked. We asked her if we were brought the correct food and she said yes because over a month ago they changed the chicken. The strips are normally flat and wide with a light but crisp batter. These were thick and the batter was chunky looking. The wings were reversed and shrunk with limited batter... if any. Due to this horrible change we will not be returning to this location! This Restaurant never fails me and my husband. We stopped to get some dinner and it came out hot and fresh right at the bar. We had the Bulgogi Tacos, Bull Dak, Small Combo, and some seasoned fries. Fries were perfect but only thing that kept this from being five stars is the rice. I order the 10 pcs DRUMSTICKS, when I arrive at home I opened the box and it shocked me how small the chicken drumsticks were. This place is my go to fried chicken place but today I didn't have a great experience with the service here, after messing up with my order and having to go through the trouble of refunding the whole transaction and having to re order again. I was just there last week and order the exact same thing and the drumstick were double the size from what I got today. I'm really disappointed on the size of the chicken drumstick this time they are the size of regular wings but I paid the price of drumsticks. I enjoy Korean fried chicken. A lot. I've been to Bon Chon in Hawaii and in California and in the Pearland location several times. Not entirely sure why, but the service and the chicken here just aren't up to par with the other locations. When I was in Hawaii and California, the chicken for some reason was 10x crispier than the chicken I've had here. It was still delicious, the soy garlic flavor, but that same ASMR crunch I was expecting was nonexistent. I did enjoy the bulgogi fried rice. That hasn't changed however, no matter what location I've been at. Bon Chon is a great chain if you want some quick and easy KFC. The water also tasted kind of gross, but that was quickly replaced at the first mention of it. And the waitress wasn't really paying too much attention to us. I'm so happy we have a Korean fried chicken place southeast of Houston! (Which is close to where I live.) I absolutely love the soy garlic wings. I went here with a friend and we ordered the small size of soy garlic wings and parmesan fries. This was honestly enough for the 2 of us. A small is more than enough for 1 person, so splitting it between the 2 of us was perfect. I liked how big the portion was and in the past when I've ordered from here, I loved that I would always have enough for multiple meals. I also really like the pickled radish that it comes with on the side too. The chicken does take a while to cook, but I didn't mind because they make it so crispy on the outside. The inside was so tender and delicious. I also tried the spicy wings and it was honestly a little too spicy for me haha. So caution with that if you can't handle your spice! Went to eat here tonight 4 adults and 1 kid. We had Arielle as our server. Off the bat, she seemed like she did not want to deal with us. She took too long to get our order and skipped to take an order from one person too. We had to call her back so we could complete our order. We waited patiently for 45 mins to get our food and still missing one person's food (spicy chicken sliders). When we followed up on it, it turned out that she forgot to place the Spicy chicken slider along with the rest of our check. Now instead of telling us the mistake herself (have some courtesy to OWN UP to her mistake like a decent human being would), she sent another server to deal with HER mistake. It could've been fine if Arielle was just courteous enough to deal with us herself and not have someone else deal with it. And we would've understood her honest mistake. On the contrary, Arielle was unapologetic about it and just dropped off our check like nothing happened. Will NEVER come back to this place! Too bad, food was good but that server suck. We literally had no utensils either. 20 min pass by and my friends finally show up. So by that time it's 8:50pm. STILL NO SERVER. My friends and I were starving AF. Rating solely based on food taste. It doesn't live up to the quality I've had from other locations in other states. Chicken wings don't seem double breaded for the crispy shell I know and love. Bulgogi fried rice is gummy and flavors don't show up anywhere. The beef has a lot of gristle that makes it have an unappealing mouth feel. I've given this place two tries and I'm done. Went there yesterday for lunch. They were definitely short staffed and it was apparent. Kyle/bartender took our order after like 5 mins of seating ourselves. We ordered the octopus takoyaki for starters and I must say it was a huge let down. Barely any octopus inside. You guys cannot be serious with charging $8-9 for an appetizer and the main ingredient is basically non existent. Poor plating with shredded lettuce for the bedding and what appears to be wood chips to mask the burnt takoyaki. I ordered the lunch combo, half and half with 4 wings and two drum sticks. The drum sticks clearly was frozen at one point. Or was not completely thawed out before being fried for the dish. The meat had zero flavor. You cannot be serious expecting the mediocre sauce at best to overcome a drumstick that was nuked to beyond oblivion. This was the first Bonchon. Quite possibly the last I'll ever visit. I felt pretty underwhelmed during my first experience here after reading all the great reviews about Bonchon online. I've tried many of the other Korean wing restaurants in Houston, and this place is probably on the lower end. The wings and drumsticks were decent, but nothing special. The texture on the wings were crispy, but the flavors were not very tasty. There was also only two flavors for the wings: spicy and soy garlic. Other Korean wing places such as Dak and Bop have much more diversity and flavor. On the bright side, the service was really good. Our server was quick and attentive at all times during the meal. So, keep that in mind. It's in a great location with alot of foot traffic. The place is really clean and the atmosphere keeps your head bobbing. 4 televisions a great for sport enthusiast. They have nice lunch menu specials. I orders the eight wings half/half spicy and soy along with the seasoned fries. My server says that they great hands down. Let me see for myself. One thing I like about Bonchon is that the menu is simple and not overbearing. I adore this location above the Katy location. First off, it's much closer to my house. About 15-20 mins away vs 45-1 hr away. Even in their early stages of opening, they are operating better. So far there hasn't been a long wait at the door. When you get seated, the service is a bit slow, still short staffed, trying to work out the kinks, but overall, getting orders in and food out in a decent amount of time. The wings are still super slow. I guess they are making it from scratch? Either that or when they are ready no staff is there to deliver? Either way when they came out for me it was still hot. We ordered the bim bim bap, seasoned fries, and wings half spicy and soy garlic. The fries came out first, and still delicious from what I remembered. Still just can't grasp the cost for them though. $7 for a small side of fries? The bim bim bap is just OK, we got it with bulgogi beef. There is just a little bit of meat, the bowl comes out super hot which crisps the rice, that is my favorite part. I'd probably skip on this next time, it's better at actual Korean restaurants. The wings! This is the only reason that I keep coming back. They have perfected the crispy skin! I live in League City, so I had not ever visited the Pearland Town Center. It looks exactly like the Domain in Austin (probably designed and built by the same people). The complex has an upscale look and is a cross between hipster and luxury; parking is kind of annoying. I also wonder what the place would be like in rainy weather, seeing as how all the stores are outside. My husband, a friend, and I took the trip to Pearland from League City on a Friday evening. I had to go through Alvin and Manvel and then take 288, which was kind of a nightmare, but that's driving in Houston. I accept it. The restaurant is pretty easy to locate if you have a map of the Town Center, but if you don't, good luck finding anything there. We walked in and the place was busy. We were greeted by a friendly host, who said we could sit anywhere we wanted. There was a little bit of a wait before a server brought us our menus and took our drink orders, but that didn't bother me. We weren't in a hurry. I had read that they make their chicken to order, and that it might take a while for fried chicken to come out of the kitchen, so we ordered a Medium 20 pc wings in soy garlic, a Small combo (6 wings + 3 drumsticks) in spicy, Bibimbap with bulgogi, Japchae, and Seasoned Fries. Okay, so we may have overdone it with the ordering. We weren't especially hungry, but we wanted to try everything since it's not every day we go to Pearland. My husband is Korean, and I was born in Korea and lived there for many many years, so we know Korean fried chicken. We love Korean fried chicken. We miss Korean fried chicken. This is not good Korean fried chicken. The chicken came out hot, but it was dry. The chicken needs more sauce, but their sauce is not a well-balanced sauce. Korean fried chicken is more sweet than salty, but Bonchon's soy garlic sauce leans salty. There is also a sesame oil base, which makes it taste more Chinese than Korean. The spicy sauce is just spicy; no other flavor. The japchae is terrible. Don't order it. The fries are fine, but it does not pair well with the chicken. If I were to return, I would get non-seasoned fries. The seasoned fries are heavy on the parmesan, and parmesan and their soy garlic sauce do not pair well together. Finally, the bibimbap. I have never had bibimbap that had danmuji (yellow pickled radish) as an ingredient. The restaurant also uses the sweet non-sticky Vietnamese rice you would normally get with Vietnamese pork chops/bbq. This is not appropriate rice for bibimbap, which requires a heavier, sticky rice. The pepper paste comes in a pre-packaged pouch, and I believe it is a mixture of pepper paste, soy sauce, and sesame oil. It felt like I was eating bibimbap on a Korean Air flight. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, but authentic Korean cuisine this isn't. Our waiter was great. He was attentive and friendly. I know this review has a lot of negative critiques, but really it's more of a mixed review. We were generally just disappointed with, not even the quality of the food, which was fine, but the flavoring of the food. Everything was edible. Everything came out promptly (surprisingly!). The bathrooms were clean and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was good. If I were ever in the area, I might come here again. I looked up "chicken" in the area (the kids were in a chicken mood) and this establishment popped up. I glad we came here. As we walked in we were immediately offered the table of our choosing. So... I used to love this place until today. It's a favorite spot that I take friends and family when they visit. Like today - my nephew is visiting from out of town. We sat there for 40 minutes waiting on our food while they kept filling to-go orders for people who were coming in and getting upset because their orders were taking too long. No one ever came to apologize or ask if we were ok. The manager kept coming out to talk the to-go customers but nobody came to our table to give us an update. I finally walked up to the bar to tell them we were leaving and they said our food was coming right out. So we sat back down. After a while, we finally left. I ordered the chicken combo and it was delightful the kimchi was tasty. The soy garlic wings were so tasty! My husband ordered the tacos. At first I thought, for $6 , was a great deal!! 3 big bulgoGi tacos. I do think they could have added a little more meat to the tacos. When you order a salad to go and the product is enclosed in an airtight box with hot chicken on top of overly dressed salad greens. What do you think the product is going to be like when you get it home? A steam-bathed chicken salad. I'm not sure about you, but that doesn't sound very appetizing to me. When I point this out to the employees and they look at me as if I'm crazy, that is a bit of a problem for me. Absolutely horrible customer service!!! We used the app to place an order online for pick up. We placed the order at 6:32 pm online. The order's expected completion time was 7:05 pm. Soon after we placed the order I received a notification from our bank confirming payment. Upon arrival to the restaurant we waited outside since we chose curbside service. After waiting upon arrival and not receiving the text for curbside pickup, my husband went inside to check on the order around 7:15 pm Once we went in and spoke to an employee we were told that there was no record of our order and we needed a confirmation number before food would be given. My daughter sent over a screenshot verifying order and payment. Even after showing the staff they told him that we needed to make payment again in order to get our order. After much deliberation the staff members said that he would share our experience with the manager. After going to the back and speaking with someone we were then told that they would process the order. By now it is 7:40p After waiting so long and going through all of this we decided to go ahead and wait for the order. Finally around 7:55 my husband went back in to grab the order to be met by another manager again explaining that my payment was not received. Low and behold they don't even know there own system!! The manager told my husband that he should call our bank to dispute the charge. The order never printed in the restaurant. The order was placed by my daughter with her name. My daughter placed the order using my card for payment. My husband was able to identify for the manager by looking on the POS device that the order was showing paid with my name rather than my daughter!! So now that he was able to prove again that we had in fact paid for the order they finally gave him the order. I felt like they were implying that we wanted a free meal. We didn't want anything extra, just our order that paid we $50+ for!! read more

Maybe it was botched from the start. I had high expectations to start with. Being Korean and loving the cuisine, it may have been unfair to expect too much. But the selection was disappointing, along with the pricing. Yes, the servings are large, but for a couple dollars more at a traditional Korean restaurant, these dishes would have been family style and tasted much better. And it's ironic that it's called Bonchon when in Korean, "banchan" literally means appetizers/sides that are Served to accompany your meal.
