We ordered soy garlic combo, Tteokbokki, bibimbop and fried rice. Our combo was very crispy and juicy inside and loved bibimbop. Our waitress came by to check and our drinks were filled immediately. This was my first time at BonChon and AJ was very helpful with my order. I waited about 10 minutes and when I got home, discovered that I had a ton of food [I got the 10-piece strips, half and half]. We adore the meals here. The popcorn chicken is so tasty. You get so much in your order. Also the salmon ball is very good. Service is very friend as well. Only down fall is every time when I call in my orders and I asked for chop sticks I never get any in any of my orders (it happened numerous of times). The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I haven't gotten to try more items on the menu yet! At first I thought it looked a bit pricey but My Bibimbap was HUGE for a lunch portion, well worth the price. I haven't had such an authentic kimchi since I moved back to the states from Japan. The whole menu just brought me back to all of the awesomeness I miss from living in Asia and I can't wait to try everything else. Unlike some other reviews complaining about how everything is so spicy, that's actually something I harp on when it comes to any Asian cuisine, it HAS to be spicy. If it doesn't clear out my sinuses a tad bit then it wasn't even close to authentic. My husband could not get over what a great price it was for 4 wing drums and a side. This is not the same bonchon. The Kimchi coleslaw is a joke. It's nothing but kimchi. The spicy wing are pretty good actually more seasoned than the original Bonchon. The customer service is much better than the Navy Yard location. A much shorter wait for your order. read more

Update: We tried BonChon hoping they worked out the kinks since they opened and it was great! We wanted more the next day so I drove 35 mins to pick up our order and then another 35 mins back. The chicken and wraps were so good! HOWEVER, we had to throw out the seasoned fries because we found 3 pieces of long wavy brown hair in it - thus only 3 stars. We paid over $66 and drove a long way. I was not too happy about the hair. --------------- I really wanted to give this place a five star rating because it is a Korean restaurant, HOWEVER, the foodie in me says I have to be honest even if forsakes my Korean side for a second. The chicken was MOIST (hence the two stars), but the flavor was a bit lacking. Highly and unfortunately disappointed! My family and I loved Bonchon. We were even more excited that it is right near our home. Recently we ordered chicken strips and when we opened the boxes, we discovered chicken nuggets. $20 for 20 pieces...much less chicken and they were breaded small balls. The taste wasn't as good either. We called to find out they stopped selling strips so, we returned them for a refund. I would be happy if they returned strips again. I placed a takeout order and tried the Japchae for $13.95 and it was a mess of tranparent noodles with miniature pieces of beef and veggies in a bowl. I tried this restaurant for lunch the other day. I am a huge lover of Korean food and I was very happy with what I ordered--the kimchee was tasty and fairly authentic. I also tried the steamed pork bun tacos--delicious! The waitress was very kind and helpful. The only criticism I had would be that the service was a little bit slow to cram in during a lunch break. I purchased the soy garlic wings and kimchi cole slaw. Horrible! First, the quality of chicken was bad. Chicken should not be stringy and it had very little seasoning and soy garlic coating. It was oversized chicken wings. How do I know? I've been to the Navy Yard and Arlington locations, ordered the same thing, and never had this problem. I really want my money back. I had to put my food in the trash. Second, the cole slaw was watery and had very little seasoning compared to the other locations. I like the food at Bonchon, however I was disappointed to find out that they changed their menu, and got rid of the chicken strips. Instead, now they have boneless wings, bone-in wings, and drumsticks. Now you may be asking yourself, what's the difference? It's all chicken right? Well the strips were more visually appetizing. Who wants to eat a whole pile of drumsticks??? When I go there, I hear a lot of people asking for the chicken strips, and being just as disappointed as I am that they're gone. The Bulgogi was superb. However, pretty pricey for the portions, especially since everything is a la carte.

I was so thrilled when I found out that they have opened one here in Waldorf last summer. I have been to few other locations in VA which are all great but this one is quite disappointing :/ Wing are not as crispy (almost soggy), really thin crust and the soy garlic flavor is barely there. The wings lack flavor and are so big they look like turkey wings which aren't so appetizing! Please trim the chicken tips and pluck those feathers they are kinda gross :( read more
