We have been here a few times and it is pretty good...not great but good. My husband is Korean so I guess we are a little biased because we know what true Korean food is. They are probably best known for their large, crispy wings and they are very good. Although my husband commented last night that it's mostly breading and not much meat. Maybe it was just the batch we had last night. I wish they had a kids menu. It is strange to me that they don't offer of one. Seems like most restaurants offer a kids menu especially nationwide chains. My 6 yr old who has been raised eating Korean food loves the bulgogi and that dish is $17! That is way too much to pay for a children's meal. I realize he might be the minority eating this as a child but I still think they should have some sort of kids menu. That said, my son loved the bulgogi and ate it all up. We ordered the fries as an appetizer and were hoping to be able to enjoy them them as an actual appetizer but they came about two minutes before our meals. That is always such a disappointment when any appetizer you order come so close to the meal. So we ended up feeling like we should not have even ordered the fries because we went ahead and dug into our meal and then we barely ate any of the fries which felt like a waste. What we did eat was actually really good, fresh and crispy. The cheese and herbs they sprinkle on top really makes it. I got the chicken katsu. Again, it was good but not great. I had not ordered that before and it wasn't good enough to make me want to order it again. Our waitress was very nice and I had to talk to the manager because our son has food allergies and she was very knowledgeable about that which I appreciated very much. I don't know what has happened -- but there has been a big drop off in the kitchen. The fried rice has always been phenomenal and I hadn't minded paying the expensive price. But, wow, this last order was extremely disappointing. Very, very soggy and mushy. The rice grains were so soaked / oversaturated with too much sauce, I almost ordered some plain white rice to mix in and sponge out all the extra moisture. The japchae dish is also not like it used to be. It now has sort of a soupy or watery texture to it. Some people may like their rice and japchae like that, but count me out. The main item in the menu is their chicken, but I can't speak to that because it's not what I order there. I usually walk out of there paying $30+ per meal, this last time not being an exception. It's a rather expensive place compared to other places around town. But,I don't know if I'll be coming now any time soon. read more

Normally, we go to Bonchon in Washington DC for our food. They consistently serve excellent food. But we did not want to face the rush hour trip. So after reviewing Yelp, we decided we would take a gamble and placed a large order at Waldorf Bonchon. The food was ready on time for the pick-up. However, their cooks need to go back to Bonchon University and take a refresher course: Chicken wings & drums = B- /slightly overcooked and dry. Fried Rice = C+/ This was a $13.00 entry. I am baffled that a Korean eatery would screw-up fried rice. Bulgogi = C /whoever is preparing this needs to revisit the recipe. It tasted like a "Steak Um" in soy sauce. No garlic flavor! The meat did not taste like it was marinated. Pot Stickers = B Coleslaw = C/ literally it was chopped cabbage with minimal dressing French Fries = A When compared to the Wash DC Bonchon this was a hard failure. Originally, I had plan that our large order would last for two days. But, I packed-up the left-overs and sent them home with the grandkids and to their dog. read more

I've gone here about three times now and I thought Americans Best wings were the bomb!! No I just found my new favorite wings spot. Their customer service is going down hill. They removed strips off the menu. When you ask for them, they just put an order for OVERPRICED boneless nuggets in. Alot of things wrong. 1. Ordered a medium order of chicken. Chicken comes out uncharacteristically fast in order 10 minutes. Dont know how that was cooked to order. Suspicious because it was not hot. 2. The boneless wings. Boneless wings that were served to me was the size of my thumb to a single knuckle of my thumb. Other bonchons strips are about the size of my palm. 3. Extremely sticky tables with food residue left on the table. 4. Our sodas had oil in it. One cup smelled and had some kind of white residue. 5. The negative reviews are true. The attitudes of the employees of this establishment are terrible. Tone and facial expression say a lot. I placed my order and while I waited and employee asked me in a terribly condescending tone to move from an area that I was standing by and rolled her eyes after the comment. So after my mom have raved about this place for so long, I finally decided to go. I am so happy I did. Everything we had was AMAZING!!! After ordering, our food didn't take long to come out at all. We ordered the wings (soy garlic), chicken fried rice, seasoned fries (AMAZING), pork pot stickers, and the chicken wrap. It was so much food, out of the 4 of us we had so much leftover (2 adults and 2 kids). After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant on going but I am so glad I did!! Prices of food doesn't equate to portion sizes. Ordered Bulgogi entree to have half the box filled with rice. This entree is almost $18 for a half portion that fits a typical reusable lunch box. I've only been to BonChon twice (both times at the Waldorf location) and I am in love with their soy garlic wings! The first time, I went with a friend and we dined in (very casual dining on the inside) on a Saturday night and the second time was for carryout on a Sunday afternoon. Both times service was great! Our waitress was prompt and attentive and when I called over the phone I was told my order would be ready in 35min to which it was, no more no less. The wings to me are deep fried for a nice crispy outside with this garlic and soy sauce marinade that emanates throughout the entire wing - Each bite is not disappointing! Super DISAPPOINTED in this location. My family loves Bonchon. HOWEVER, this waldorf location is totally different than other locations. They lack on the sauce coating AND flavor... We have visited the Annandale, Reston and Navy Yard locations many many times which both Soy Garlic and Spicy flavors are AMAZING!! For some reason this location differs. Its so perplexing. They never fully coat the wings...the chicken sliders barely have ANY sauce. And the sauce they do have is not as flavorful. We've given this location 2 tries...both time HORRIBLE in comparison to other locations. If you try Bonchon for the 1st time DO NOT try it at this location you are not getting thw right represention of what it should taste like. This was my first time going to this location, but my wife has been here previously. They were set up per current COVID protocol, with hand sanitizer and social distancing place mats in place; no dine in. I understand, but disappointed that the restrooms were closed off. We ordered the family feast (half and half) with cole slaw, fried rice, and pickled radishes as our sides. We also ordered Takoyaki and 8 ginger soy chicken tenders. The chicken was flavorful and crispy. The spicy chicken came with plenty of heat and the ginger soy had a sweet kick to it. The pickled radishes was a great compliment. The coleslaw, however, was very dry. Not sure if that is how it is made, but ehhhh. The Takoyaki and fried rice was pretty good. Big wings, interesting menu variety. Definitely worth a try. We ordered a medium order (20 count) of the spicy wings (photo attached) & an order of seasoned fries. We thought it was a bit pricy ($20 for 20)until the wings came out- they were HUGE. Next time we will order smaller, this place doesn't skimp on chicken size. The batter is light and crispy and the spicy seasoning has a strong but pleasant heat. The sauce almost seemed like a glaze, it didn't leave a mess on the plate or your hands. Chicken was cooked perfectly. Seasoned fries came out in a large dish and had garlic and Parmesan on them. Wings are served with some pickled radish to help ease the heat and clear your palate. Service was pleasant and prompt, dining area is mostly 4 tops with chairs. We expected a fast casual experience but dine-in is waitered. The 411: this is a Korean inspired fusion restaurant that serves well known Korean staple dishes and twice fried crispy chicken. This restaurant has its faults but I feel that their specialty (the chicken) makes up for most of it, earning them a solid 4/5. The bibimbap is dry and lacks veggies and flavor. I wouldn't recommend, especially concerning how pricey the dish is for mostly rice. The bull dak is wayyy too sweet for my preference, though it was nice and spicy when I asked for extra spice. The cheese was disappointingly cold and not melted on top of the chicken when I got it, which is a huge turnoff for me. I want my bull dak looking like French onion soup melty on the way out the kitchen. The cold shreds of mozzarella was not appetizing to me. The French fries were really yummy! Crispy and not too small nor too large, with a few bits of paremesan shreds on top, not bad with their kimchi mayo! A great addition to their chicken wings Their unimpressive execution of classic Korean dishes were made up for by their really tasty chicken wings! Really large in size (this particular location seemed jumbo) wings with a fair amount of meat on them and an absurd amount of crispy breading. The dine in service is great. However, I waited 40+ minutes for a small (10) order of wings for a carry out order. I don't know what took me so long to try this place!! I ordered the wings...half and half (soy garlic and spicy). Didn't take too long for the order to come out and the food was nice and hot. I got my order to go and the aroma that was flowing through the car had me ready to dive in. As soon as I got home, I took one bite of each wing. The soy garlic wings were amazing...the spicy almost took me out! I wasn't expecting them to be that spicy...but I must admit, they were still good. I was only able to eat one of the spicy wings and when I finished that one, my tongue was hurting, not burning, but hurting. Crazy thing is, after my mouth cooled off, I considered eating another spicy wing...that's just how good it was. The wings have a really nice crisp to them too.
