It's been awhile since I visited BonChon, so this might be old news, but they changed the batter for boneless wings. The batter was the only reason why I liked going to BonChon because no other place did it like them. Now their boneless wings are frozen wings I can buy from a grocery store. So disappointed and it wasn't even properly sauced. The only good thing I got were the gold dust fries.

Been to this location about 3 times since it opened, my family and I really enjoy the menu. This time for 2 of us we got the 16 piece half soy garlic and half yangnyeom flavor. We also got an order of the spicy potstickers to start. The chicken is perfectly crunchy and they make sure to cover them with a ton of sauce, and the spicy potstickers have a nice quick. I also enjoy their other menu items such as the tteokibokki and cheese corn. If you're coming here with family this is a great place to visit. The staff is fast and the kitchen makes the food pretty quickly as well.

I came in and was greeted by a friendly order-taker and placed a takeout order of Japchae. It was flavorful, but the veggies were undercooked. I've had them cooked perfectly at other Bonchons, so I do have perspective on this dish. I would never dine inside because I disliked the takeout experience (a first for me). I sat at one of their tables and was about to TASTE my food when a young woman (presumably a manager) advised me of their "no outside food or drink" policy. I immediately closed the lid on my food and rose to leave. I told her I didn't see a sign. She told me it's posted on the entry door and she showed it to me on my way out. It was a small sign and I missed it. I wish she'd taken a moment to notice that mine was a takeout order and that I wasn't dining in. Meaning the milkshake that I had with me wasn't going to be consumed on the property. Does this mean that if I came in with a can of soda get my takeout order, she'd have come and spoken to me? Petty.

Super friendly service & plenty of seatings indoors! I was quickly seated on a Saturday night and food came out fairly quickly, Food: ordered the medium mixed with wings and drumsticks with half soy garlic and their new sauce yangnyeom. First thought when the food came out was these are some large pieces of drumsticks & wings!! The yangnyeom was my favorite. It was spicy and sweet and just overall balanced out perfectly. I usually love soy garlic flavor however the wings coated in this sauce was my least favorite. I thought it was way too salty. I also ordered the new item on the menu: mapo Korean corn dog coated in sugar and cinnamon, this was my absolutely least favorite out of everything. It was way too breading & the mapo seasons just tasted weird to me. I would not get this ever again. I love how the chicken was doubled fried & had the perf crispiness!

FOOD We ordered a mix of wings and drumsticks of the KBBQ and spicy types. The KBBQ option was a little on the sweeter side but still delicious. The spicy one wasn't too spicy, but if you have sauces at home, they can augment the flavor multi-fold. At over a two dollars per wing/drumstick, the place is on the expensive side, but it's a definitely nice treat ever so often. SERVICE We didn't dine in, and the takeout service is also streamlined and easy to get in and out. They provide chopsticks, utensils, and napkins with the bag, and the side dishes are packaged neatly to avoid spillage. I would recommend opening the chicken containers on the drive fro to keep them crispy. The staff are friendly and efficient. AMBIANCE The inside is very clean and modern with many seating arrangements available. It's a great place for a nice get-together with friends/colleagues or to dine-in solo. PARKING The restaurant shares a large parking lot with neighboring stores, making it easy to find a spot.

Walked in on a Tuesday evening for a late evening snack! Ordered a medium half-half combo(Drums & flats): Soy-garlic chicken 8/10: Juicy, crispy, but a little too salty Spicy chicken 7.5 /10: not very spicy and a little too salty The server was nice and refilled my partner's water 9/10 There were not many people as it was a Tuesday night, but it was clean, music playing, and a good place to sit and grab a snack or drink! Overall decent place to hangout, but not the best Korean fried chicken in the area.

One of the highlights of the night was meeting the owner, Jason. We bonded over our shared Cantonese backgrounds and even got to meet his aunt, who was visiting from California and happened to be sitting next to us. It made the whole experience feel incredibly welcoming and personal. We ordered the Dynamite Roll, which was a solid choice with 8 generous pieces, and the Szechuan spicy wontons, which were juicy with just the right amount of heat. If you visit, definitely grab a seat at the bar. The bartenders are friendly, engaging, and really add to the experience. We were treated to a complimentary shot of Jäger with Jason and even got to sample their Lychee Pearl cocktail because the bartender had made an extra. The cocktails really stood out. Instead of masking everything with sugary juices, they use extracts and creative techniques to build balanced drinks that complement the flavors beautifully. Jason also mentioned that their cocktail specials change every month, so we already told him we'll be back regularly to see what new creations he comes up with.

Decided on this little spot in Fairfax town center after having a quick weekend day trip to DC. Really pleasantly surprised with the whole atmosphere of the place. It's a true fusion of asian bites but still a legitimate dive bar. The space is small, patrons are merry, and the whole place is an absolute vibe. I ordered some pilsner and some other lager on tap from local breweeies. Delicious. Ordered popcorn chicken, pork belly, and some 'real food' - a quick rice bowl with chicken. The fried bites were wonderfully crispy. They have good oil management and felt quite light especially with a swig of a cold lager. The rice bowl was tasty too. Construction was indeed very Taiwanese, and yet... I still felt like I'm in a dive bar complete with all its grunge. So cool They sell 4/6 packs of craft brews here too. They've got stuff all the way up from some Vermont and Maine (true craft beer land IMO)

Our group of five sampled a great variety from the menu, including the Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin, Crab Roe Soup Dumplings, Cucumber Salad, Lettuce Wraps, Cumin Fish, Stir-Fried Beef Tenderloin, Crispy Pork Ribs with Scallion Crisps and Mixed Grain & Purple Rice, Stir-Fried Beef with Chilies, and Kung Pao Chicken with white rice. The standout for me was the cumin fish. It was fried perfectly--crispy without being greasy--and the cumin added great flavor without overpowering the dish. The crispy pork ribs lived up to their name and had a nice kick of spice. The cucumber salad packed a serious garlic punch, which I really enjoyed. The Hot & Numbing Tofu Skin was something completely different from what I expected. It's sliced into long ribbons that resemble noodles or pasta. The flavor was excellent, although the texture took some getting used to. The only dish that fell a little short was the stir-fried beef tenderloin, which could have used a bit more seasoning. Everything else was delicious. The portions are enormous. At first the prices seemed a little high, but once the food arrived it made perfect sense. Every entrée was easily enough for two meals. One thing to keep in mind is that rice is ordered separately and isn't included with the entrées. Service was excellent throughout our meal. We arrived for lunch and didn't realize they close between lunch and dinner (lunch is served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). We ended up staying until about 2:45, and the staff never made us feel rushed even though they had technically closed. They greeted us promptly, took our drink orders, and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu without hovering. The restaurant is tucked away on the ground floor of an office building, so it's easy to drive right past if you aren't looking for it. Parking was plentiful, and the oversized booths comfortably fit all five of us without feeling cramped. If you're dining with a group and want to sample a variety of authentic dishes, Mama Chang is definitely worth the visit.
