We wanted to have seafood for lunch today so we decided to give BFG a try. The restaurant looked very posh and nice on the inside. However, I felt like the tables were positioned at little bit too close to one another, making me feel a little bit uncomfortable and not safe given the current Covid climate that we're in. But thankfully, today the restaurant was not that packed during lunchtime so they were not too many other customers. Our waitress was very friendly and very accommodating, so that was a huge plus. For example, when we were ordering the bang bang shrimp and inquiring about the spiciness level of the appetizer, our waitress was kindly offering if we wanted to have the sauce to be on the side just to be safe. I thought that was very thoughtful and considerate, and I liked that. The bang bang shrimp was really good. The shrimps were fried to perfection, and they went really well with their signature spicy creamy sauce. And the entire thing was brightened up with the addition of chopped green onions sprinkled over the dish. I would 100% order this again. For the entrée, I decided to try one of their daily specials: Baja scallop and shrimp scampi over linguine noodles. I liked the portion of this dish. I thought the portion was generous; the scallops and shrimps were plentiful. However, flavor-wise I felt like this dish was lacking something. To me the flavor was borderline bland, and also the sauce was a little too thin/watery. The issue that I had with the sauce was it was not thick/creamy enough for it to be able to cling onto the noodles; instead, the sauce would just drip off the noodles. We also ordered the Parmesan crusted rainbow trout and the Mahi Mahi, and I tried both. I thought the trout was pretty tasty. But of all the things that we ordered, I liked the Mahi Mahi the best. I thought the Mahi Mahi was perfectly grilled and charred, creating this flavor profile dad reminded me almost of steak. I would order that next time. read more

We got the bang bang shrimp with the new fries and a house salad. It was delicious! Our service was really good and fast. Our server NYLA was amazing!!!! Her personality was so beautiful. She smiled and was just so sweet and made us want to come back. The only thing I would say that should change is at dinner time the lights should be dimmed a little more. Full transparency, I've been vegetarian for about 6 years so hitting up a fish joint probably isn't ideal...but...I'm usually able to find something filling and flavorful off the menu at any restaurant. Not the case here :( I was definitely disappointed with the salad! The overall portions were smaller than I anticipated too...However the flavor of the garlic whipped mashed potatoes, great mule, and amazing key lime cake made up for it. My friend ordered their famous bang-bang shrimp and she loved it! We sat at the bar and busy as the bartenders were, they managed to keep things moving and grooving Love the low lighting and laid back type of feel here. It was my wife's birthday. Her wish was to be chauffeured around all day. She became very ravenous after going to every resale boutique in a 50 miles radius. I suggested restaurant after restaurant, although she denied every suggestion. I said to her, "How about Seafood." She said, "Yes !" This is how we arrived at the Bonefish Grill. The restaurant offered both outside and inside seating. My crew wanted A/C. We were seated quickly, and the waitress took our drink orders. Drinks seemed to appear immediately. The atmosphere in the restaurant is modern. The lighting is too dim. With the lights dimmed as they were, it was hard to read the menu. We scoured the menu and finally decided on : Appetizers : - Maryland-style crab cakes There is a debate on crab cakes. Some people like their crab cakes with as little filling as possible. Why not just have a couple of dollops of unseasoned lump crab? On the other side, some people like the filling to enhance the taste with a delicate crust. I fall into this side of the debate. The crab cakes they served had virtually no filling with no crust at all. - Calamari Crispy and very good in flavor. - Flash-fried green beans. I enjoyed the way they were cooked. This is a light flash-fried tempura green bean. Entrees : - Fish and Chips The chips were good, although the fish was greasy. - Parmesan cheese-encrusted Rainbow trout; garlic mashed potatoes and Kung Pao Brussels sprouts. I have never had encrusted trout before. It was excellent. The garlic mashed potatoes had a delicious flavor, although too dense in texture. A little more half-and-half or cream can take care of that. - The Kung Pao Brussels sprouts in portion were huge. Unfortunately, most of them were burned. I'd like to give them another chance. - Sirloin, Shrimp, Mac and Cheese The Sirloin was excellent. The Mac and Cheese was solid. The Shrimp, in my opinion, was frozen, "peel and eat." A restaurant of this caliber should at least serve frozen, shell-on. - Blackened Baja Fish Tacos Three huge tacos came out with this order. Unfortunately, the tacos lacked flavor. For the Birthday celebrant, this restaurant offered a complimentary dessert. My wife selected Key Lime cheesecake. I am not a cake fan. There was something different about this cake. To my kid's dismay, I had most of my wife's cake. Will I come back to this restaurant even with my commentary ? I would like to. With a few recipe tweaks, the food will be outstanding. It had been a while since my last visit to Bonefish so a meal from here during stay-home orders was appealing. I did not realize that there were two different menus online though, the regular one and the one posted on Door Dash where items were a few dollars more expensive. Darn, I should have been more vigilant, especially since I was picking up the meal. I was able to schedule the order through DoorDash and pay online, so at least I didn't have to call. Before the scheduled pick-up time, I received an email alerting me that my order was ready. Yay! The beef dumplings were pan-fried, served on a confetti of colorful slaw and crispies, with a delicate ginger dipping sauce. It was good although I think I still prefer the Bang Bang shrimp as a starter. The side salad was, as always, fantastic. I enjoyed the hearts of palm, black olives, crunchy sunflower seeds, and herb vinaigrette. It was a refreshing course between the dumplings and the Cod Imperial. As for the latter, a large portion of cod was topped with a mix of seafood (scallops, shrimp, and crabmeat) and cheese. Yum! I was able to select 2 sides with the meal; I had the healthy steamed broccoli and the decadent bacon mac and cheese (available for an upcharge). Service was fine. I always have a nice time coming here. They have great service and I like that they have a kids menu. Seasonal specials are quite nice too. I used to come for happy hour and sit at the bar. The bartenders are attentive and nice . My favorite meal is the salmon as well as the mussels Josephine appetizer. This was my first time visiting although it's been on my list for some time now. I had heard of the famous bang bang shrimp so we definitely had to try some. I also enjoyed the warm bread and olive oil. It happened to be the Christmas holiday event so there was a Santa who was taking pictures with the guests and the waitresses were all dressed in festive attire. It was really nice and in the holiday spirit. I opted for the egg white omelette with crab and asparagus, green beans and wheat toast. My eating companion had the fish and chips. The bang bang shrimp was easily my favorite dish of the night. My omelette was just okay. It wasn't particularly memorable but I did really enjoy the atmosphere. All were good, calamari was below expectation, bang bang shrimp was great and the ahi tuna poke was solid. For main course had the chimmichurri filer with a side of broccoli and the king pao Brussels sprouts. The steak was cooked perfectly with an ok chimmichurri. The sprouts stole the show. Need this recipe! Our server made sure all of our needs were met. Enjoyable meal. Above average for a chain restaurant. Will probably not be the last time I visit, the Brussels sprouts alone are worth a trip. read more

Went 2 weeks ago had a bad experience with food so i notified Bonefish telling the management what I had experienced, as I would want to know if I ran the place. Quick response from management team email from Ray and a phone call from Amanda listened to my concerns and made it right by making the same dish 10 times better and more attention to detail. I came here with my mom and ordered their special $49 dinner for two. It comes with bang bang shrimp, salads, 3 pieces of fish, shrimp/scallops, and 3 sides - the fish and sides are all predetermined. The whole meal was a disappointment. While the bang bang shrimp used to be piled high (see my picture from an earlier visit), it was flat and had more lettuce on the bottom than I've ever seen. It was more like a shrimp salad than a shrimp appetizer. The 3 fish and shrimp/scallops sounded like it would be a ton of food, but it's really not - they are very small portions that basically give enough for each person to have a taste. It came with Atlantic salmon, cobia with chimichurri sauce, swordfish with mango salsa, and grilled shrimp/scallops. I don't like salmon, so my mom ate that and I can't speak to that. The cobia was flavorless, as was the swordfish. Moreover, the swordfish was dry and mushy, which makes me wonder if it was previously frozen. The shrimp and scallops were wet which was a bit of a turnoff, although flavor was okay. The sides (jasmine rice, au gratin potatoes, and green beans) were better, but the green beans were undercooked. I'd say they gave us a 1.5 sized portion of each side to share, so not too generous. Everything together was enough food for dinner though. The service was also not great. When we got our entrees and sides, our waitress said she would be right back with water refills for us. We finished our whole meal before a different waitress came by and asked if everything was ok and then I told her that we were thirsty and haven't gotten a water refill the whole meal. She apologized and sent someone to refill our waters. Then our main waitress brought our check later and didn't even mention the waters and acted as if everything was great. Another thing to mention is that they've really stripped down their sides selection. They used to have broccoli, green beans, and a seasonal vegetable as options, whereas now it's just seasonal vegetable that alternates between broccoli and green beans. Based on this experience, it appears this place has gone downhill and it really puts into doubt whether we will be back. read more

It should have been room temperature so I'm not sure what was up with that. Our waiter was sort of personable but not over the top friendly with us, though he was timely and professional and got it orders just right. However one gal stopped by to make conversation and we enjoyed speaking with her for a moment. The filet which I ordered was amazing. The grilled shrimp were great too! The bread. I have never been to Bonefish, but this past Monday my boyfriend wanted to get some nice seafood and check out a dessert he fondly remembers from nearly 20 years ago... lol. The restaurant is nice inside, but nothing overly special. Our server Jeff was fantastic - super friendly and helpful. We got a couple cocktails which were delicious and my boyfriend's was served in really unique glassware that we loved! We got the "Seacuterie" board to start and everything on it was great, but I wish it was served with pita chips or some other kind of small bread instead of regular tortilla chips. It was still great though! Our entrees were great too, if a bit pricey for what they were. The brownie dessert my boyfriend wanted was also delicious. We have visited other locations of this chain but had never visited the one located in Novi. After the golf show today, four of us stopped by for dinner. Service received by Steve was excellent. He assisted us nicely by replying to all of our questions as well as exceeding our expectations. The other couple with us today had never experienced a Bonefish and were happy with our restaurant selection .. We tried many different items including both cod and beef sliders for our first round.. These mini sandwiches were excellent. My wife and I shared the Chilean Sea Bass served with au gratin potatoes and brocolli. All our items were excellent! The only thing preventing this visit from a perfect review was that the steak that our guests had ordered was a bit over cooked. We will return another time to experience a different selection in the very near future. read more

Food is decent here. Pricing a bit high for what you're getting. Service is always lacking and very slow everytime I come in. They work with my food allergies so that is helpful and one of the reasons I come in. On my most recent visit, today, the bathrooms were a mess (toilet handle broken) etc and walking by the kitchen I noticed it looked pretty messy. Water on the floor as well as paper. I waited over 15 minutes to try a sample of wine. Ended up having to go to the bar myself to order it. Then another 10 just to get the glass of wine I ordered. It wasn't even busy so I'm not sure what the delay was. The calamari appetizer was decent but a bit overcooked . The burger we ordered was overcooked. Although he didn't ask how we wanted it prepared. My steak was cooked nicely medium rare and everyone else's food was good as well. read more

An update to my review from September 20, 2023. Contacted the customer service website THREE times and never received as little as a "we are sorry email". Contacted the proprietor/manager via private messenger on FB....no response. Sent a message to the person from Bloomin' Brands who answered my Yelp review......no response. Called the restaurant the next day and spoke to the "assistant manager" who was the same person I spoke to the night before. R.J. gave no resolution to the issue, not even an apology. He just kept saying they were busy and our waiter has been there 5 years and is a fine employee. A fine employee who doesn't bring back the change from a bill and assumes it's his tip? 5 year employee at Bone Fish and doesn't enter my Dine Rewards (even after I wrote him a note stating my phone number and to please use my $20 on account). I'd hate to encounter a bad employee. From what I gather, Bloomin' Brands is looking to stroke their ego with positive reviews and ignore bad service. If this company can not even send out a "we're sorry" email, they do not deserve my business. I am not looking for anything from this company except for an apology and a "we can do better" comment. read more
