The former restaurant, Steve and Rocky's, was a favorite of my friend's, so I accompanied her here more than a few times. Consequently, I have memories of the menu and the restaurant. With these memories in mind, and given that I was shopping in the area, I dropped in for dinner to experience the new restaurant. Early in the evening, the restaurant was filling up with regulars. Servers and guests greeted each other with affection and familiarity. I scanned the menu and noted a few items that I loved from the previous menu. Roast duck. Pork belly. Chef Milos' mushroom soup. However, they now serve a Sunday special, prime rib, a weakness of mine, so I went with that. There's something special about a roast on Sunday, which reminds me of my childhood. To start, I had Caesar salad and Ahi Tuna tartare, cubes of tuna atop a seaweed salad, and wonton crisps. Regrettably, I forgot to ask for anchovies on my salad. However, both were good. The prime rib was slightly over-seasoned and served with creamy mashed potatoes that's even better than mine (okay, Joel Robuchon's mashed potato recipe). Really good overall. Went here for a work event with a fixed menu. The appetizers were awesome, some crab/shrimp cakes and caviar/smoked salmon on crackers/bread. The service was top-notch, very attentive. I had honestly one of the best, most tender filet mignons I've had in my life. I do wish there was something other than whipped potatoes as the side, like a baked potato option, even for the fixed menu. The dark chocolate bon-bon dessert was great too. The ambiance was just OK; it definitely had a weird vibe with some dusty old curtains partitioning off sections of the restaurant and dark lighting/decor. read more

I have been wanting to try this place for a while and scheduled one of Meetup group dinners. Others in the group also wanted to come that we asked to fit 1 more in on our table of 8 and easily could. Our group is use to good food service, food, and conversation when we meet. We only got 1 out of 3 and that was the conversation since we could hear from each end of the table. Service was slow and didn't inform us what the hold up might be. Was too many tables, slow kitchen, or what? It took a long time for rolls, drinks, food, refills, and bills. Floor manager didn't even check on us or any other server. Besides the scallops and salad, the rest of the food that was ordered was a little salty. The burgers were also dry with a hard bun. Even the calamari appetizer wasn't finished or fought over to take home which our group is famous for. I have always said in my reviews that when the adult drinks menu is longer than the food menu that isn't good. They had plenty of parking and a classy dinning room. What a wonderful places for a nice dinner. I have been to this place since it was Steve and Rocky's. I'm glad we decided to come here and have dinner. The setting is wonderful and the decor is very clean and chic. The table bread is nice especially when it's fresh. I love bread and loved their bread. The main dishes were excellent! I really enjoyed every single dish. I think the ravioli might have been my favorite. It was very fresh tasting. The salmon was also very good. The perch was amazing too. The dessert selection was nice too. They bring you them all on a tray to get a visual of what they look like which is very helpful. The prices were very reasonable. For 3 main dishes, a dessert and one adult beverage our bill was under 120$ which I feel is very acceptable. I will definitely be back for their delicious food. read more

I was pretty impressed! I came in on an early afternoon for a drink and a couple of dishes. Everything was plated nicely and tasted just as good as it looked including the crispy pork belly and a beef and mashed potato dish that I think may have been a special. Seems like they have a chef that cares! I think they had some tasty bread as well! I also had a whiskey sour, the cocktails aren't necessarily of the "craft" variety but I did enjoy it. The interior looks similar to its predecessor. Think it was Steve and Rocky's before. Closed less than two years ago. Seated at a booth. Eileen is waiting on us. Ordered a tasting of 3 soups, Brentwood Caesar, house salad, pimento cheese dip, calamari, Brentwood burger with add on truffle fries, jumbo scallops. $102.03 We are hungry, clearly from our order. The apps were out in a flash, maybe too quick? It was out in about 5 minutes or so. The calamari rings are crispy, not bad. Has good kick to it too. It's nice and light. The pimento dip is good, some heat to it as well. Not loving the pimento cheese ball on top of the lettuce leaves, ends up stuck onto the cheese for consumption. Elaine was nice and found us a flat of cream cheese to eat with their herbed bread. Bread is a vehicle for cream cheese, no? The squash soup and the mushroom soups are scalding hot. The mushroom soup is good. The squash soup is quite sweet, too sweet for me. The Italian sausage and kale soup wasn't my jam. The truffle fries are decent. The Caesar dressings tastes off to me. The salad itself looks quite sad and lack luster as far as presentation goes. The bison burger was towering and packed full, had to remove the lettuce and tomato to eat it up. My husband enjoyed it, bison is too gamey for me. The house salad was so-so, dressing was too sweet to me. The jumbo scallops are sized from a quarter to silver dollar size. Overcooked for sure, tastes a bit rubbery. The raisin compote wasn't my thing. Mushroom and cauliflower were both good, the main feature and the rest was disappointing. This was our first time back since the transition from Steve & Rocky's. The ambience seemed about the same but it was not nearly as crowded as it used to be; there were probably less than a dozen diners and it was a Friday night. The menu seems about as interesting as ever and the wine list remains impressive. My wife had the Roast Acorn Squash and she enjoyed it. I opted for the Roasted Duckling: the first bite was great; crispy skin and good flavor. But my first bite was the only crispy part. The rest of the skin was quite rubbery. It remained flavorful but it's not something I would order again. If I recall correctly, the service at the old Steve & Rocky's was a bit more attentive and professional. read more

We had dinner here to celebrate my FIL's 94th- party of 10, promptly seated and waited on. 8 out of 10 ordered a fish dish - salmon, perch, walleye- all were delicious and enjoyed! Hubs had the duck which he couldn't stop raving about. Calamari was good but portion was small. Dinner portions were a good size and the sides were delicious. I grew up enjoying "Happy Hour" with my Grandparents. I guess, I never put 2 and 2 together until, last Thursday. I met Betsy for a girls night. We rolled into Brentwood, and shared the happy hour appetizers. Grilled artichokes and prosciutto, red pepper, and some pickled? I have never seen but loved. We had the steak tips and mushrooms over mashed potatoes with gravy. OMG! Our server Denise, who was AWESOME!! Almost, lost her arm when she went to take the plate away and there was still some left. The pork belly with a sweet jalapeño corn relish and pickled onions was off the chart delicious. I had a few concerns about the pimento cheese and homemade chips. I think pimento cheese should be in a tea sandwich (no crusts), on celery or with crackers. Our server Denise, was 100% on point. Funny, unobtrusive, aware and really let us enjoy being there. We had a reservation for 2 and we went there on a very snowy day on a weekend. The restaurant was very busy. It took a while to be seated . The drinks took a while to get to us but when we ordered our food, we didn't have to wait long to enjoy our scrumptious meal. We also split a dessert. The food and atmosphere is always great! The internal layout has a separate bar from the main formal dining area. I would definitely consider dining in next time. I placed on order online for takeout. Buyer beware. Food was good. Server was vague. My husband had the "scallops", which he believed came with pasta. Apparently, there are two scallop dishes, which the server didn't tell us, and he was given the more expensive entree which didn't include pasta. My husband was offered "soup or salad". He picked the soup. I ordered the walleye, which was excellent but didn't arrive with sauce "on the side", as I had ordered. I asked if the soup or salad was included, to which our server awkwardly looked at me, so I ordered a "house" salad so as to avoid an up charge. The salad was a tiny side salad (not a meal) but unbeknownst to us, we were charged $12 for the salad and $9 for a tiny soup cup. Like I said, the food was good, but the vagueness and awkwardness and expensiveness of what we thought was a $30 meal that turned into a $50 meal, wasn't worth it. We felt cheated by the server. This restaurant hits the trifecta! With it being increasingly more difficult to afford a nice dinner out, I recommend you spend your money here for a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the menu is beautifully done with unique, but familiar choices. Eileen, our waitress added a professional and fun touch with her wit and recommendations. I'm glad the menu hadn't changed here, there's the dishes that we've always gotten when it was name, Steve & Rocky. I know that most the people were the same and really just the name changed, but I ordered my usual dish which is the scallops and pasta. Unfortunately, it was incredibly salty, I've ordered this dish for a number of years and never had problems with it but this time it was very challenging to consume. I didn't end up sending it back, but also couldn't finish it either. I hope it was just a fluke and everything else in the future ends up to be good. I will say I'm not crazy about the name, when you add something like grill after a restaurant, it just makes it sound more casual than they are trying to seem like on the inside the name distantly doesn't match the ambience. The appetizers were good. The wine list is acceptable. It goes way down hill from there. Service is mediocre at best, there really is no concern for the customer, just going through the motions. In my case I ordered the Duck, I specifically told them to make sure it was not overcooked. I was brought a Duck that was as so overcooked that it was inedible. They never even offered to prepare me a duck correctly, I am going to presume that all of their ducks were pre cooked and none would be acceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Our server Lilian came by with water and I let her know about my food intolerances. She was incredible! I don't recall ever having a server actually take notes as to what i cannot eat. She left to go ask the chef what he would recommend. She came back very apologetic and said that the chef said I should just order a salad with grilled chicken. What a lazy suggestion! Can't salmon be grilled and served without the sauce? Can't whitefish be sautéed with broth? What about a burger in a lettuce wrap? What kind of chef cannot pivot on the fly when it's not busy? Hell, I could have come up with better ideas than "just order a salad" and I am not even in food service! I made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday, and the staff made it an awesome experience. When the host took our name, he mentioned that they made us a personalized Happy Birthday menu (it was the cutest) and set us up at a cute little table where we could have some privacy. The ONLY drawback was that we were sat specifically so we could have a little privacy and quiet, but then, about a half hour in, the loudest group of seniors sat at a 12 top next to us. Within the first two minutes, they had managed to spill three drinks and knock over two chairs. They also brought in their own food, which I felt was disrespectful, but the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was amazing, and the bill was much less than I expected. If you like cream of mushroom soup you won't find any better. It's outstanding. I tried the perch taco that was good. It had a fillet that was fried along with a slightly spicy mayo sauce with shredded lettuce and pickled cabbage. The menu has some interesting entrees/ options that I'd like to try next time around. The Scallops and Whitefish were absolutely delicious! I'd definitely recommend Brentwood Grille. It has a cozy ambiance and you can actually have a conversation without having to strain your voice. Our server, Sam, was friendly and served our food piping hot. The Maitre D, Kate, was great coming around to our table occasionally and making our dining experience fun. There is an amazing well suited beautiful bar area which offers a selection of house crafted cocktails , wines and beers with comfy looking seats you may want to just stay and dine in? The corner round booths are so fun and I would love to come here with a larger party and sit there. There is some really cool metal work throughout with a cool vibe and tables are dressed with white tablecloths. The Pork Belly is Appetizer sized for two and delicious( This was my meal choice:)). It was lean and served with an amazing Zucchini Chutney, all of which about melted in my mouth. The whole table enjoyed my offerings to taste! The 1/2 slab Ribs were a good portion size that appear a slightly not heavily smoked rib and are not that mushy boiled type texture. They are tender yet you slightly bite to get them off the bone. Almost that Smokers/BBQ champion type texture that should appeal to every taste, so juicy and meaty with an amazing house made BBQ Sauce. Ask for extra sauce or on the side it is that yummy! They were so good you would have thought they were freshly made to order start to finish. Not a heated up pre cooked experience. A good sized order of fries came along which were crunchy with just the perfect amount of salt!! Let's talk Boneless Short Ribs: A very good size serving of 4 perfectly seasoned beef pieces that were so tender you could use your fork.The amount of awesome gravy was plenty for the dish. The roasted mini golden potatoes were tasty. The carrots yummy,perfectly pealed, shaped and served al dente. I do like mine on the over cooked side LOL. Per my son,"Mom, these are the best Short Ribs I have had out. They are like yours and I can never find them like you make them. I enjoy them as well and now I can dine not having to prepare them myself! A rare find for sure:) They have a desert display to choose from. For the quality of food, the prices and portions this establishment is priced spot on. Honestly, the Short Ribs were nicely priced for the quality and generous portion served. Seems to be 'dining out' on the older folks crowd who remember better days when the restaurant was under other ownership. These days, it seems like everyone, including the front and back of house, are just waiting for it to close down. No one welcomes you. No one is in charge and no one cares. The food is not good and it's an all around disappointing, sad experience. Why doesn't Novi have any good restaurants with great cuisine, good service and CLEAN, fresh dining rooms? We had one of the worst meals: waitress was slow, food took over an hour, burger was so overcooked it was not eaten, and the steak was such a bad cut (full of grissle) and overcooked only 2 bites were eaten. I suggested the meals be sent back, however our guests were being polite and didn't want to wait another hour to get their plates back.
