Burgers were fantastic. Carmelization of the meat made the meal. My favorite burger place near Pittsboro.

Great cheeseburger and fries. Definitely my go-to when I'm in the area. Service is beautifully southern and friendly.

The place is a large wooden building that resembles something that would have been built in the 1870's. There are a few bench's and chairs on the front porch to relax in after eating or if you need to wait for a table. They have a general store with some interesting items as well. Schuler's is a buffet style barbecue and all you can eat. Their pulled pork is their best meat. I wasn't really impressed with their ribs though. Don't get me wrong, the were pretty good but I certainly wasn't blown away. Their fried chicken is good but again not much different from most buffets in South Carolina. Their collards are nice and they do offer hash. If you're thinking corn beef hash, it's not that. It's a BBQ or liver hash and it's definitely an acquired taste. I usually put it over rice if I get it. Hash was highly popular in South Carolina for many years. It can't hurt to try it as Schuler's is actually pretty good. Not my favorite barbecue in the area but it's cool place with great people.

The staff was very friendly, the service was good...I had takeout but the restaurant is a buffet inside. It clearly is a place the locals enjoy and it is an easy stop if you are on the way to the beach. All in all, my favorite was actually the hot dog. The chili was excellent and the slaw had just a touch of sweetness. The BBQ was well prepared, just not my favorite style or taste profile...a bit too much twang. I would recommend Shuler's if you are in the area and look forward to trying other items the next time I return.

Neither of us had been to Stanton's, but we were aware of its reputation. We both had to drive 90 minutes to have lunch at Stanton's and I'm glad I made the drive. Since this was a long drive, I ate more than if the restaurant had been a quick drive. I tried their chopped BBQ and fried shrimp plate with slaw and baked beans as sides. Hush puppies were served with the plate. Topped off with a BBQ sandwich. For a beverage, I ordered a 1/2 and 1/2 tea. The tea was fantastic! For me, the regular sweet tea would have been a little too sweet. The BBQ was really, really good! They barbecue butts, as opposed to whole hog. The sides were solid, but not exceptional. The best side I tasted was the slaw and it was above average, while the beans were very average. The BBQ sandwich (a true test marker) with slaw - excellent. There were three people at our table and our total bill was only $52. The servers were excellent and about as nice as you could encounter. Just good southern hospitality. Lastly, the building/business is a South Carolina Certified Heritage Site. It's been around a long time and you feel you have stepped back in time. Stanton's has served a lot of people over the years. The restaurant looked to be built onto the home on the property. There is plenty of parking, and an airstrip across the street. People fly in almost every day to have lunch and we were fortunate to see an arrival by air while we were there. The next time I'm in the area, I will stop in for some BBQ!

This restaurant is very clean with a very welcoming atmosphere (seating inside and out) and clean restrooms. The waitstaff are always very attentive and just all around good people. If you have not checked out their Christmas events with Santa flying in on a plane, you need to check it out. No matter how old you are, you will enjoy it. The elves will parachute from the plane while they put on a show, and Santa will fly in to greet the kids. This place is all around awesome!! You have the option to sit outside right by the runway. There are a couple of old planes to you to look at and several things of interest outside. We had five young children with us and they had a blast. The service was very good as well. The white staff is very friendly and seemed unbothered by any request. I ordered the smoked chicken and my wife got the brisket nacho plate. The chicken was good, although the breast was a little dry. You have a choice of a standard barbecue sauce as well as a spicy. Being in North Carolina, they are vinegar based but pretty good. I had baked beans and potato salad for my sides. Potato salad was good and the baked beans were baked beans. We did have fried pickles as an appetizer and they were well done and came out piping hot. The brisket nachos were good and I tried a bit of their pulled pork and it was very solid as well. All in all the whole experience was marvelous. It made eating with little kids a lot more fun. (Although maybe I was just a big kid.)

However there wasn't so we were able to walk right on in. There were some folks inside as well, and tables for us to sit. It's similar to most BBQ places where you order your meats by the pound. We had brisket, ribs and pulled pork. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone. Literally just pulled the bone out. The flavors were outstanding. There was bbq sauce but truly wasn't needed, more just to enhance the flavors. The brisket was moist and tender. Seasoned to perfection. It as well needed nothing more. The pork was really good. Tender and juicy. We had a few sides but the most amazing one was the watermelon salad. With the mint, lime, cojita cheese, cucumbers, and red onions it was mind blowing. The way everything in the salad blended so well together was perfection. The Mac and cheese were just as top tier. The way the cheese pulled, the kick it had you could tell this was recipe that has been used for years. There was a bite to it and it was perfect. We also had the Mexican street corn that burst with so many flavors. And lastly we tried the hash brown casserole. It was definitely different but equally as delicious. The service was quick. The ladies that assisted us with our sides were the most friendliest. They encouraged us on the selection of sides, and shared their favorites with us. Overall one of the best BBQ I've had, definitely the best BBQ in NC.

We arrived at 9:45 on a chilly, drizzly day and there were probably 50 people in line ahead of us. There was a friendly staff member monitoring and organizing the line and she told us we were there on a 'slow' day because of the weather. After the restaurant opened at 11, we waited in line for probably another 45 minutes until we got inside to order. The brisket was great, but the best things we had were the kolaches (stuffed breakfast rolls available before they open), Cheerwine hot link sausage, and fruit crisp. The Cheerwine sausage was the biggest surprise. It had a great flavor and wasn't sweet - I've never had anything like it before. When we get a chance to go back, we'll probably skip the pulled pork and mac & cheese. They were fine but there's a lot to try and these weren't anything special.
