Total was over $30 for this

Pulled up and there were friends of workers blasting music in the parking lot with megaphones but I do not blame the restaurant for that but it did make the whole experience a little more frustrating. when we waked in we weren't greeted and after our order we payed over $30 for two meals and the food wasn't even that good. Was still hungry afterward and I have never finished a meal anywhere else. I regret coming here for this price especially knowing there are much better restaurants in the area for the same price or less. Extremely disappointed

Thanks to Yelp, this place was recommended!! Yes this is as good as everyone is saying! The place is clean and plenty of seating. The menu has a lot of choices both meats and sides. The prices are reasonable and well worth it! It is kinda hard to decide on what you want. The only thing I didn't' see on the menu was the option to pick a combo of meats. I decided on the ribs, macaroni and cheese and collards. You also have an option of cornbread or rolls which was nice. I took a bite of each and already gave them 5 stars! The meat fell of the bone, so tender and tasty! You have 3 options of sauces too! The macaroni and cheese was delicious! The greens were chopped real fine. I like mine a bit more seasoned but they still were very good. They also sell fresh pork skins that were wonderful!! I wish I would've gotten some banana pudding but that will be next time!!

What happened to this place?! This used to be one of our go to places in Fayetteville. $15.86 for a tiny bowl of Brunswick stew that tasted like it was from a month ago probably reheated several times. 2 tiny dinner rolls with some dry hard brisket, a tiny cup of dry Mac and cheese that was definitely not fresh and had been reheated several times and a side of fries. The fries were good.. So sad how restaurants in this town get Fayettevilized, you would think that the owners would take more pride in the quality of their food.

Currently, this establishment is opened with dine-in and take-out services. Decided to try out this place since I was in the mood for good ol' bbq. I ended up getting their feature of the day which was the Pulled Chicken Plate with two sides. It also came with either cornbread or a roll and I chose the cornbread. The sides I ended up getting were the macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. These were classic and as expected. The coleslaw was refreshing without being too sweet with a little tang and the mac n' cheese was nice and creamy. The cornbread was delicious too. Overall, it was just what I wanted! This place also does catering with bulk pricing for any occasion such as weddings or birthdays. Worth considering if you have an event coming up. Also, be sure to check out the dessert shop next door! Burney's Sweets and More is a great way to grab something sweet after having your meal here!

I have to give Southern Coals 5-Stars ++++. The place was immaculate from the front to the back of the restaurant. A 99 Health Grade only makes me wonder how they did get a 100 +. It has to be the cleanest restaurant I have visited in the Fayetteville area. Now for the food. The wife and I were not quite feeling Bar-b-que today but wanted to try their chicken salad. We had heard good things and we were not disappointed. I did get a sausage dog just so we could try the flavor of the sausage and sample some sauces. The sausage was good but we really enjoyed the sauces. We had a split decision at our table. My wife enjoyed the Red Neck Yum Yum (sweet) and I enjoyed the Big Daddy Hump Sauce (more like an NC BBQ sauce). We did not try the Superman Sauce. We also had an order of fried okra that was really good. I highly recommend this place.

THEN Brooklyn came over and said that although her section was on the other side of the restaurant, she was happy to help, and to not hesitate to get her attention if we needed anything, or any refills. However, we never had to because she was on it!!! She has such a great personality, and works efficiently, yet without ever feeling rushed. She also gives her honest opinion about menu items, without ever criticizing anything in particular, but definitely won't steer you wrong or sound fake about it. She was able to take what had started out as a bad experience and turn the situation around. We had an absolute blast and the food was delicious. While I dinged the overall review, Brooklyn is awesome and she gets a full 5 stars!

There was a large selection of draft beer. I had the brisket basket with a sweet tea, caesar salad and mac&cheese as my sides. Most of the waitresses had nose rings or colored hair, which really isn't my thing but good on them. My waitress was very nice, but forgot I was there while taking to friends at the bar. Also their wifi went down while I was there so I had to pay cash. Again, this is exactly what I expected and I might return for the Monday night football game!

Normally I go straight for brisket or ribs, but they told me they're known for their burnt ends, so I decided to try the burnt ends plate. After I paid and sat down for a bit, they came back and told me they had run out of burnt ends. They offered to substitute another meat and refund the difference. I switched to brisket and told them not to worry about the refund. To their credit, they gave me whatever burnt ends they had left along with the brisket, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the meat itself was disappointing. At first glance, the brisket did not look promising. The slices were very lean with almost no visible fat, no smoke ring, no pink, just gray-brown throughout. The bark was minimal and patchy. It looked dry before I even took a bite, and it ate exactly how it looked. The meat was firm, tight-grained, and lacked moisture. I ended up having to drink water between bites and could only finish about half before taking the rest home. The burnt ends weren't much better. They were dark and sauced on the outside, but they also leaned dry instead of tender and juicy. Not the rich, sticky, melt-in-your-mouth burnt ends I was hoping for. I got baked beans and potato salad for sides. I'm not sure if they make them in-house or if they're premade, but they were decent. Not amazing, not bad. They just didn't make up for the meat. I really wanted to like this place, especially after they recommended the burnt ends so confidently. I appreciate that they tried to make it right when they ran out, and that was good customer service. But at the end of the day, barbecue lives and dies by the meat, and this just didn't deliver.

I have some amazing benchmarks for what I consider an amazing dog/chili cheese dog. This one here just is not it. 1. Overpriced. Paid $20 for 2 chili cheese dogs, tots, and a fountain drink. 2. Once received, the 2 chili cheese dogs I expected to fill me up, looked very underwhelming. Basic grocery store bought buns - the extremely short ones you can find at cookouts. The chili- basic and grossly underserved. The cheddar cheese - again - basic store brought cheese, and sparsely spread. Asked for some chopped onions - sparsely spread. The tots - they were obviously frozen and oven baked. Not fried. If I'm wrong, then I'm mistaken. But I know what tots taste like from the oven vs deep fried. This is not a place for hot dog lovers.
