As a vegetarian, mostly vegan, I can say there are options though a bit limited. I just had some fried okra and a piece of cornbread. The cashier and manager insisted I try the cornbread and I'm glad I did. It was the best I've had in a long time. The rest of our dinner party got a variety of things from hash and rice to the brisket platter, ribs and chicken. They all cleaned their plates and enjoyed every morsel. I loved the sauces at the tables as well. This place has a family friendly environment , great for groups or solo meals. I recommend visiting if you're in the mood for bbq. read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time last week. The brisket is amazing. So much flavor. The service was great. It was easy to order. We got take out so didn't eat inside the restaurant but the vibe inside is great. It's a calm yet family friendly environment. Will be going back! read more

Pulled up and there were friends of workers blasting music in the parking lot with megaphones but I do not blame the restaurant for that but it did make the whole experience a little more frustrating. when we waked in we weren't greeted and after our order we payed over $30 for two meals and the food wasn't even that good. Was still hungry afterward and I have never finished a meal anywhere else. I regret coming here for this price especially knowing there are much better restaurants in the area for the same price or less. Extremely disappointed read more

Called to get an order for pick up on a Thursday at 1630 and was on hold for 15-20 mins. No one came back and I hung up, called back and went straight to voice mail. Ok they are busy. I went to the store to order my food. NO customers in the place, 3 employees with two play fighting behind the counter. I ordered my first meal and was told they don't have tater and gravy. I showed the employee the menu and she said they still don't have it. I ordered a sausage dog, and they didn't have any sausage. I tried to order brisket, and they said it wasn't ready yet. Finally, I asked for the boss and told him everything and all he could say was It looks like we are having a day, and we will try to do better. Terrible customer service. Everyone including the manager needs to be fired. read more

Not a good experience. We arrived at 7:25pm, Thursday, 8-21, well before closing time. The semi-snarly cashier said hello and asked if we were eating in or carrying out (eating in...at first). Two things to know for ordering: SC charges a fee for credit card payment; withhold providing a tip until AFTER your meal. The meals arrived quickly, but with the sides mixed up. No big deal, but the server didn't notice. Staff started clean-up at 7:40 which wasn't too surprising since we were the only two customers. The Good: entrees, sides, and cornbread all tasted very good. But wait.... The Bad #1: meat entrees (ribs, brisket, pulled pork) were very, VERY dry. Collards tasted good, but were dry--at first I was pleased they weren't soupy. Baked beans were ok, and could've been out of a can of high quality. The Bad #2: Salt and pepper shakers had BBQ sauce residue on them, and the BBQ squirt containers were slippery and one leaked (the vinegar one...great stuff to have all over the table and one's arm). The Ugly #1: no one checked to see if our meals were ok, even though the order taker passed by our table twice while cleaning up. Aren't they supposed to check? Or, do servers get tips only for not dropping the food while they serve it? Just asking. The UGLY #2: The place is small, and the man and woman in the back carried on like two sailors: yelling at each other, calling each other queer, etc., and then we heard the woman discuss results of her PAP smear or to explain to the man just what a PAP smear was....great sounds for dinner ambience (NOT). Come to think of it, if the cashier had to listen to the two in the back for an entire shift, no surprise she was snarly. After the PAP smear discussion, we decided to get boxes for our food and leave. For the Bad and Ugly noted above, we recommend against this place. There are several better BBQ experiences in Fayetteville. read more

Thanks to Yelp, this place was recommended!! Yes this is as good as everyone is saying! The place is clean and plenty of seating. The menu has a lot of choices both meats and sides. The prices are reasonable and well worth it! It is kinda hard to decide on what you want. The only thing I didn't' see on the menu was the option to pick a combo of meats. I decided on the ribs, macaroni and cheese and collards. You also have an option of cornbread or rolls which was nice. I took a bite of each and already gave them 5 stars! The meat fell of the bone, so tender and tasty! You have 3 options of sauces too! The macaroni and cheese was delicious! The greens were chopped real fine. I like mine a bit more seasoned but they still were very good. They also sell fresh pork skins that were wonderful!! I wish I would've gotten some banana pudding but that will be next time!! read more

What happened to this place?! This used to be one of our go to places in Fayetteville. $15.86 for a tiny bowl of Brunswick stew that tasted like it was from a month ago probably reheated several times. 2 tiny dinner rolls with some dry hard brisket, a tiny cup of dry Mac and cheese that was definitely not fresh and had been reheated several times and a side of fries. The fries were good.. So sad how restaurants in this town get Fayettevilized, you would think that the owners would take more pride in the quality of their food. read more

Currently, this establishment is opened with dine-in and take-out services. Decided to try out this place since I was in the mood for good ol' bbq. I ended up getting their feature of the day which was the Pulled Chicken Plate with two sides. It also came with either cornbread or a roll and I chose the cornbread. The sides I ended up getting were the macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. These were classic and as expected. The coleslaw was refreshing without being too sweet with a little tang and the mac n' cheese was nice and creamy. The cornbread was delicious too. Overall, it was just what I wanted! This place also does catering with bulk pricing for any occasion such as weddings or birthdays. Worth considering if you have an event coming up. I ordered it delivered. The pulled chicken was really good - moist and tender. The pork was very dry and bland. They didn't even put bbq sauce in the bag. Green beans and potato salad were nothing special. The cornbread was moist and had a nice flavor. It was just a mediocre experience, not sure I'd get back. read more

I went to this place because of all the good reviews. The aesthetic is so super cute. The employee at the front was very attentive and greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. Now on to the food.... This pulled pork was DRYYYYY and definitely not Carolina pork. Make sure you get some sauce because you're going to need it. The collards were pulverized collards and yes, these taste like canned green beans and the potatoes need some more love too. I don't know that we will be back. read more

You can smell the smoky goodness when you step out of your vehicle. The menu is awesome. Not overly complicated. Food: is exceptional. I ordered collards , fried okra to share . I have to give Southern Coals 5-Stars ++++. The place was immaculate from the front to the back of the restaurant. A 99 Health Grade only makes me wonder how they did get a 100 +. It has to be the cleanest restaurant I have visited in the Fayetteville area. Now for the food. The wife and I were not quite feeling Bar-b-que today but wanted to try their chicken salad. We had heard good things and we were not disappointed. I did get a sausage dog just so we could try the flavor of the sausage and sample some sauces. The sausage was good but we really enjoyed the sauces. We had a split decision at our table. My wife enjoyed the Red Neck Yum Yum (sweet) and I enjoyed the Big Daddy Hump Sauce (more like an NC BBQ sauce). We did not try the Superman Sauce. We also had an order of fried okra that was really good. I highly recommend this place. read more

Nice solid BBQ. My husband has been wanting to try brisket since moving to NC. Most places serve just pork and chicken. I ordered the 2 piece smoked sausage meal with fried okra and potato salad,and he ordered the brisket with Mac n cheese and fries. The Mac n cheese was a bit dry but tasty. They offer 3 different sauces, just wished they labeled them. But nice solid place and we will probably return. read more

Not impressed. My chicken breast was ok, but hubby's rack of ribs was dry and lacked flavor. Boiled potatoes watery. Mac and cheese meh. Corn bread nothing special. But they were busy. Lots of takeout. So guess it was maybe just us. read more

Great BBQ! Delicious ribs, perfectly moist and seasoned, made even better with the BBQ sauce. Fantastic pulled chicken and pulled pork (I liked the chicken best), with a very large portion that I couldn't finish. Meals come with 2 sides and cornbread ( a bit on the small size) or dinner roll. Great selection of sides. I had corn on the cob and collard greens, hubby had broccoli salad and onion rings. All were excellent. The onion rings were perfect, piping hot, slightly crisp with tender sweet onion inside. Counter service and they bring the food out to you. Service was fast and efficient. I was happy to have a roll of paper towels at the table to clean up after those perfect ribs. Prices are reasonable and if you pay cash there's a 3.5% discount. read more

Five of us came here and we were all happy with what we got. My bbq plate was great -- added all three bbq sauces and mixed it together, like the dude there suggested. Solid 10/10. Most okra at restaurants has that over-floured frozen garbage they drop in a fryer, but the okra here was top tier and tasted homemade. Plenty of seating room, and we were all impressed with how clean the restaurant was. Coming from five people who work in the food industry, that's saying a good bit! read more

Cons: the staff. I've seen more lively people at a funeral. Acted like they hated to be there and you were a thorn in their side just for asking for the cornbread they forgot to give you. No greeting or see ya later. The chicken salad is extremely sad and quite possibly the worst I have ever tasted. Cornbread would have been good if it wasn't stale Pros: the okra was great. read more

The owner of this place is as awesome as his food and selection of beer. If you want to rage all night and be crazy, this isn't the place for you. If you want to have quality food and beer over a solid conversation, then this is your spot. My girlfriend and I stopped by based on pictures of the food on Yelp and were very much surprised that this place WAY exceeded our expectations. We are actually pretty sad that we are stopping by on a long road trip up I-95 or else we would make this our local spot! I would post pictures of the food, but it was so good that the two of us ate portions big enough for 4 grown men. Try everything and get some desserts to go! read more

Ok, it's a few hours later and I've cleaned the bones! Had to put the fork and knife down that smoked chicken was so good . This is the absolute best barbecue spot around. Absolute 5 stars all the way around. You can call ahead for orders and also grab desert in house or next door from the related bakery. The ribs, brisket, and barbecue just melt in your mouth and fall right off the bone. Got to try the sampler plate! Plenty of choices for sides, I prefer the Mac and cheese with the fried okra. read more

Very good southern cooking. Meats are well smoked and there are different sauces you can choose from. The sides are very good. The Brunswick stew is one of the best I have had. My wife enjoys the collards. The people and quality of food is why we continue to go there. read more

Southern coals has BBQ so good you dont need sauce. But the redneck yum yum will never let you down. The restraunt is a little pricey but thats barely a comaint for the best BBQ in Fayetteville. Please open bar and ooen hours are a little weird. Love this place keep up the good work read more
