Food 20/10 Ambiance: Perfectly unique Service: Fantastic!! My boyfriend and I went to Bongo Burrito on a Saturday night at around 7, we didn't make a reservation. We sat at the bar and got a drink while we waited. The bartender was friendly and one of the owners, Joe greeted as soon as we walked in. He knew my boyfriend from high school. Soon enough, we were sat at a cool picnic style table which could probably fit 6-8 people! I forgot our server's name but she was very sweet! The sweet plantains were tasteful in their own right although I did not care for the queso sauce to complement. I liked Bongo but thought it could be a little better from our experience, it was just average. We sat at a high-top a little after 4pm on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. My friend and I came to celebrate her birthday. We ordered drinks, a quesadilla to split, and shared the chips and salsa given upon arrival. My friend ordered a Pina colada which she said was fine, nothing to write home about. I ordered the sotally tober. It was mid. No real heat even though there were plenty of pepper seeds throughout and very weak I didn't taste a single drop of alcohol. The Mexican street shrimp quesadilla was good. My friend and I were so excited to try this new spot for lunch. Firstly, the place is absolutely beautiful with such great decor inside. It reminds me of the rainforest cafe on vacation. We were greeted by almost the entire staff - they were all so friendly and welcoming. The menu seems so interesting and promising but the food we actually got was somewhat bland with undercooked rice (like, still hard). The chips and salsa were good. The drinks were good. The mac and cheese was good although the "cheese" of choice is clearly Velveeta (very familiar with the taste). Corn tortillas also not cooked well. Wouldn't return except maybe for drinks. Came here today with my husband for lunch. 5 stars for ambiance! However, restaurant is very small- 4 tables and 3 high tops. There is outdoor dinning, only usable in warm weather. We ordered the fried avocado appetizer, the something to taco bout and the Caribbean tacos. We asked the waitress to bring the appetizer first. Everything came out at the same time. Short wait for a two-top on a rainy Saturday night. The decor and atmosphere is energetic, and maybe a lil too much, because I couldn't hear anything my wife was saying. Banana pepper appetizer was good. Wife's lobster tacos were amazing, highly recommended. My "Crunchwrap" was filled with overly salty and greasy beef.
