I have to warn the public of my personal experience with this shop. This Shop flat out ripped me off as I in good faith trusted them .I was ripped off by dealerships for my Landrover over the years and found myself at Bonnets to Boots. After two years of trusting the shop and owner Bill, I discovered that they had not done the repairs they billed me for and grossly overcharged me every time.My car was never truly fixed. They stating the new problems I experienced after picking up my vehicle and paying were said (unrelated new problems)They said this without ever actually taking the car back in to see why it was still not functioning. Unrelated-scam..After thousands of dollars I gave the owner Bill & a chance to make it right. He shouted and cursed and refused to speak to me.I filed a complaint. After investigating,I was told violations had been found in billing and records & business practices. The BAR rep asked me if I would agree to settle or to court. I wanted it behind me so I allowed the owner half of the $1200.00 billed.I was acting in good faith that some repairs were done. Now months later I find I made a mistake in letting him off the hook. The $300.00 I was charged for a window motor repair failed.BAR asked me to contact the shop and ask Bill be given the chance to make good to fix it properly. He ignored me.So back to court. The shops own mechanic who worked on my car admitted to the the owners lack of diligence and his practice of over billing warning me away after the fact. Most of the repairs I was told that were done were either not done at all or done incorrectly.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SHOP, nor Landrover..I had towed the vehicle through AAA to this shop.I was never given a written estimate nor authorizing what he did. Still the shop owner charged me $360.00 to diagnose the car not starting with a burned out starter motor visible. And $195.00 for a off market starter. Again I was not consulted. I also requested at that time the owner repair the headlights as he had previously charged me for and did not do a repair but promised to do so when less busy.He then charged me again another $60.00 to again diagnose but not repair the headlights. He instead reversed the wiring low beam for high beam he said later temporary until he was less busy.He did so without authorization.I had also requested at the time that he repair my power window which was not functioning & he charged $216.00 to diagnose it not working! The owner did not do his paperwork properly according to B of A R and State of CA standards I was told that by the owner that he had ( replaced my faulty spark plugs and a wiring coil 4 free,It was a lie.The owner stated the State of CA was ripping him off for fees and taxes so he was altering charges, putting them on his other DBA to save himself and me $?Confused, I reluctantly paid the invoice though I was grossly overcharged asking he reduce the bill. He didn't. I drove off & within minutes my car stalled & would not start.I called the owner, he said it was unrelated to the work he had done he was going home. I was to tow it over the following Monday 3 days later!I was near a dealership & asked them to check my car. They informed me the repairs I was told were done were visibly not done. And that I should go back to the shop to confront the owner. When I returned to the shop the owner was not in but I spoke to his mechanic who confirmed what the dealership told me about how certain repairs had not been done. The mechanic contradicted the owner on the work the owner stated was done.It was not done according to the mechanic who worked on the car. I was upset. He told me to speak to the owner and get him to repair the car and reduce the bill. When the owner came in I told him I knew he did not do the work he billed me for and my car was still in disrepair $1,200.00+ dollars later. I asked him to properly repair and reduce my bill. He then began to scream at me telling me to get out! He then cursed at me.I realized I had been ripped off.I disputed the bill & filed a formal BAR complaint. BAR investigated &confirmed the facts of multiple violations &recommended I be refunded all$.The owner refused.I thought I was being fair that some repairs had been done,so I elected to settle.Allowing half the charges. Now my car stalling at times as it had done when I first brought it in.& my power window has failed does not work after paying a total of $303.50 for the repair.I contacted the BAR & told to contact the owner of the shop and give him the chance to make it right. I did so,he ignored me.So filing a complaint again now asking the car be fixed by a reputable repair shop. And that the owner to pay.I made the mistake of trusting this guy,I gave him a chance to do the right thing twice & obvious failings repairs & to warrantying work in good faith.
