I deal with neuropathy and a number of other health issues that affect me physically, but also take a toll mentally and emotionally. When you deal with these things long enough, you get used to your body always telling you that something is wrong. You almost forget what it feels like to simply be still and feel well. That is what made yesterday different. During the session, I could actually feel myself letting go. There was a sense of calm that went beyond simply being relaxed. My body felt different. My mind became quieter. And emotionally, I felt more centered and at peace than I had in quite some time. What Dr. Carlacio does is very difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. She has an incredible ability to make you feel comfortable, safe and completely present in the moment. There was nothing clinical or mechanical about the experience. It was simply one person genuinely focused on the well-being of another. I am not suggesting Reiki replaces traditional medicine. It doesn't. I still have neuropathy and I still have the medical issues I walked into the room with. But wellness is more than treating a diagnosis. It is also about how you feel inside your own body, where your mind is, and sometimes where your spirit is. Yesterday, Reiki gave me something in all three of those areas. I walked into the session carrying a lot, physically and mentally. I walked out calmer, lighter and with a sense of balance that I had not felt in a long time. For me, that makes what Dr. Carlacio does something very special. I will absolutely be back.

She also asked me if there were any current issues bothering me, either of mind or body. I told her of a continuous, but random, pain behind my left knee. Once she started the session there was complete silence and I opted to close my eyes and feel her energy cover me as she transferred that energy to me. I felt a very light, but noticeable undulation of a warm feeling going through my body. She would slightly touch me in places that was hardly noticeable, concentrating a little longer on my knee. When she finished I felt a calming sensation like I had just meditated, but more relaxed. By the way, I haven't had that pain behind my knee even once since! She is truly gifted, not only as a Reiki Master but as a gentle counselor and true healer. I was actually turned on to Anita by way of the monthly Sound Healing she offers in a small group setting. I was definitely a skeptic, so was EXtra-pleasantly surprised to find such good medicine in this meditative ritual. She plays an amazing collection of Tibetan and quartz singing bowls, and her place is impeccably clean and beautifully set up. And turns out it was Extra-good that I attended the group first (prior to going for private sessions)... because, for whatever reason, I don't necessarily like going to someone's home for a private service. This place, however, is definitely an exception - now I can't imagine going anywhere else. Yes there is a sense of being welcomed in a warm, hospitable, "homey" way, but you don't feel like you're walking into someone's living space - it's definitely a Healing space. The sunporch which is set up for the private sessions is very clearly a dedicated, sacred space with soooo much healing energy. Enter a dedicated, true Reiki Master and well..... I can't put the actual Magic that happens into words but, whether going for private Reiki sessions (I am especially amazed by a treatment she incorporates called "13th Octave Lahochi"), or for her Sound Healing/Mediation nights, she is definitely the real deal.
