I got the second worst haircut of my life here. Imagine being postpartum, with tiny baby hairs growing back, and the stylist cuts your actual hair to match the postpartum regrowth. It's so bad that every morning I look in the mirror and genuinely want to cry. The stylist also gave me bangs -- even though I explicitly did not want bangs. Now, with the real postpartum hair coming in mixed with the trimmed front pieces, I wake up every day looking like Kim Jong-un with these awkward little sections hanging down. It is so bad. The outcome was clearly due to a lack of communication. The stylist could not speak English, which made it impossible to clearly explain what I wanted or didn't want. This isn't about race -- I'm Asian as well -- it's about basic communication. If we can't communicate, the result speaks for itself. I won't name the stylist because I don't want anyone personally targeted, but I will not be returning. I'd rather pay double to work with a stylist I can clearly communicate with. read more

Done my hair for a first time from this hair shop. My parent made an appointment to do some style change. I did Keratin service and some hair cut. I have a mid-way shoulder line length, regular thickness and natural half wavy hair. I had few color highlights left over down the strings from 2 years ago I've done ash brown balayage from CNN. I done my hair with Sena Kim, asked her to cut all the damaged splits. She had cut maybe 1-3 inches for damaged ends, then given me a overall layering cut to make my hair feel lighter. Then we have done a keratin service, which comes along with the pressing as well to make the hair compressed with Keratin input and make the hair silky smooth. The result came out pretty satisfying. I like the hair cut it suits me very nice and my hair feels much lighter and smooth with shinning effect which usually the keratin is for. However, I believe the price is definitely over-priced. I done the same combination service from CNN from the past, it was only for $280, plus tip it was not over $310. It was same length, but much worse condition since I try to color my hair during the pandemic period and bleached my hair 5 times and it did kill my hair. Much bad condition, but it did not cost me over $350 with the same exact service. Due to my hair type, I am required to do either keratin or the magic straight perm to prevent my hair gets insanely tangle (I once broke my wooden thick brush due to my hair was tangled so bad), and give a shiny smooth run effect. So, I am pretty piled with my data on price ranges for it. I am long lived Californian, now became a local Texan, I've been to many hair shops throughout my life with many locations still, the amount I paid from Bono hair was over priced. As the stylist did informed me before we begin, Keratin + hair cut for my hair length and the condition base cost starts from $380. As I seem to be shocked about the price, she said that she'll then only take the base cost (still over priced compare to other places I have been to!). With the tip 15%, it was over $400. Which it is still questionable. I do love my result, the style came out good but was it really worth of $400+ dollars.... Still remain questionable. Because of the over pricing it too rocket high, I probably not wanting to come back here unless Sena Kim would open her own shop with proper pricing ranges. read more

She did magic with my hair and the cut she gave me was so stylish and sexy. I can't recommend her enough since she made me feel the most beautiful I had ever felt. This is the worst haircut l've ever had from the stylist named Hanna Im. I came with a very long hair and showed her a picture of what haircut I like. Then from the moment she was cutting my hair I already knew that something was off until I told her to stop. First she was cutting it already too short, she kept cutting off my hair and don't even know if she knew what she was doing. This is the first time I've ever complain about my haircut and it was very upsetting getting out to a salon with a really messed up hair. Firstly the staffs are nice. I had the stylist Uni Lee this time. She is a very nice person. But when I mentioned I want a bit layer and a bit shorter, it turns out she was multitasking with different customers and cutting my wet hair in less than 10 cuts. And then blow dry immediately without take a look. After that, she styled my straight hair with curly waves without asking me anything. How would a hair stylist know if the outcome is good or bad just based on the wet hair cuts? I can't tell how the hair looks like with all curly waves. She said it's cute so I left. I regretted to say ok and still left 20% service fee because I trusted her. After I wash my hair, the outcome she cut cannot even been called as layer. The haircut is a mess. Let's just be clear- This is an Asian salon inside of a supermarket, that caters to Asian people hair and culture. I took my 9 year old daughter here for a haircut and we both came out of the experience a bit traumatized. My daughter is mixed race, Chinese and white. Her hair color has hints of reddish brown and the texture is very fine- which is very different than that of myself (Asian course hair), and gets tangled easily. We brush it daily , but often ,along with the fact that she's also a CHILD, the hair underneath gets quite tangled despite the care. I booked the appointment at the salon since we were doing some shopping there and her longer hair was starting to tangle more than usual. We arrived at the appointment on time, but waited 15 min to be seen by Leo. This is understandable. However, during the appointment Leo would not let me leave her side (to sit down or otherwise) and held me hostage to say a barrage of comments for the entirety of the appointment- This included but was not limited to his opinion of my bad parenting since her hair was so tangled and I must be really lazy (3x), and that other kids at school are or will likely make fun of my daughter because her hair looks so bad, and perhaps the problem with her hair being damaged is because we colored her hair.....(I mean is this person a hair stylist? Her hair color is due to her mixed race, no we didn't dye my 9 year old's hair. And her shiny hair isn't damaged? Just a bit tangled and nothing a few mins of brushing and detangler spray wouldnt fix) I was so shocked, I just wanted to get out of there. He then proceeded to tell me (10 min into our appointment, and 15 min late because he was behind) that this was taking too much of his time, his other guest is already waiting (nice looking Korean gentleman reading a newspaper), and he should charge me double for all the trouble. Upon being dismissed and as we're attempting to GTFO of there (within our allotted and reasonable time), an older woman (possibly the owner) pointed out to him that my daughters hair was not even, so he cut it real quick while we stood at the checkout. GUYS- One thing is the bad actual hair cut/service. But also, I know this is a thing in other countries (because I was born in Asia) but here in America, we don't treat people this way or make fun of children (in front of them), much less to a paying customer. Unless you're a beautiful Korean woman/ man with already very nice hair. OR unless you love uneven haircuts and being verbally abused on a Sunday, I wouldn't recommend coming here. read more

The worst decision I've made this year so far is coming to this salon. I was quite excited based on previous reviews, but I am abhorred by my results and literally do not want to see anyone until my hair grows back out. I had a very clear idea of what I wanted, which was a 1.5inch trim and add a few layers. I also let my hair stylist, Caroline (?) know that my hair is pretty damaged, and I am aware but only want 1.5 inches cut. What I ended up getting was a 6+ inch hack, with choppy layers and no blend. I confronted her and asked why she cut so much off and she said it was because my hair was damaged. Dumbfounded, I reminded her again that I specifically asked her to only cut 1.5 inches, knowing my hair was damaged, but she said this looks better and is better for my hair. I was visibly upset and the salon offered me a card for my next visit but I will never return here again. I don't care what you think is best for me, it's what I want for myself. read more

I'm so happy to have found my new favorite hair salon in Austin! I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and modern the hair salon looked, considering it was located inside H Mart. I went back in April, which was still early on during the pandemic, so they had recently opened back up again. They took my temperature as I walked in and everyone wore masks the entire time. I am extremely picky with how my hair is cut and styled. I was so impressed that Uni knew exactly what I wanted and provided recommendations for my frizzy, slightly uncontrollable hair. I'm giving a 2 stars because I got my hair straight perm here about a month ago. They cut my hair and did the straight perm. Satisfied with the perm but definitely unhappy about the cut. When I pulled my hair up 1/2 way, the left side is a lot shorter than the right side. When all hair are in the front, you can also see that it's uneven and short hair as shown in photo. Ay so here I am, walking into a hair salon for the first time in over a year, knees trembling and palms sweating because the last two times I got a hair cut I got screwed over (partially my fault for going to very cheap places). I walk in like 10 minutes late bc of traffic and heavy rain and had to wait another 10-15 while my stylist Chris Lee was working on his previous client. That's all fine with me because I knew he was going to take his time with me as well. I asked for a simple cut and style to trim off my fraying permed ends from the last time and to recut my curtain bangs that my friend gave me. He was very knowledgeable about how specifically to go about it (I wanted to connect my bangs to the rest of my hair but he said it would look frizzy with some of my hair still retaining the perm and it was a good call) and was also super respectful of my comfort levels when I told him I had a bad experience with the hairstylist thinning out my hair too thin in the past. He gave me long layers and straightened my hair and took his time with it. Very good, would come back to have my hair permed at this place next time too! read more

My sister who has previous experience and knowledge when it comes to bleaching and dyeing her hair left this place today with half her hair melted away. The first round was not enough so they decided on the second round which is not uncommon so we understand. The hair styler, an older women, however left my sister to assist another customer and ended up neglecting her while her hair was burning away. Once they tried to take it off, half of my sister's hair came off. She did not get the color she wanted, HALF her hair melted away, and they made her pay. The older lady put the blame on my sister's hair and tried to do additional stuff to it which at that point was useless. I remembered That I had an Bono Hair and Spa business card and dialed the number they were able to get me in at 4:30 scheduled even get me earlier than what I was scheduled into. Mikki Who was the wonderful guy that did everything to my hair was fabulous. He literally is the sweetest person you'll ever meet and find the perfect color to compliment your skin tone hair and style. He was very considerate about what I wanted how I wanted it and never doubted it or thought that it would come out crazy looking. He was very confident in his skills. It's hard for me to trust somebody to do my hair due to previous bad experiences but he really took the whole fucking cake I will be a loyal customer to him and everybody should definitely take a look at him and show him some love he's wonderful. Now I'm not going to lie but the first time I had walked in they had told me it was going to be 150 but I did have a lot of work done to my hair which cost me 320 I kindly paid for that service because he gave me that top notch dollar kind of service would I have enjoyed it for it to be less of course but when you're looking for a quality you have to always pay the quantity and he did that for me today.
