Today I ordered the smoked wing basket which came with 6 wings and 1 side. I ordered my wings tossed in buffalo sauce but there are other sauces available and you can get the sauce on the side if that's what you want. Let me tell you that these were some of the best wings I've had in a while. The smoky taste of the wings combined with the buffalo sauce makes for a premier bite. The wings themselves were meaty. The food here is absolutely atrocious. There is absolutely no seasoning and all of the meat was way overcooked. Do you wanna call this mac & cheese? More like macaroni and nothing flavored sauce. Is it too much to ask for a little bit of salt on the meat at least? My Nana said the greens are crunchy like saltine crackers coming from a southern woman who knows how to make a good collard greens. How do you overcook an undercooked a rib at the same time that's what's blowing my mind. This place is a rip off. I have ordered 3 meat hog portion salads to go from here on several occasions and recently I have not been getting what I've paid for. I suspected I was not getting what I paid for ( hog portion of meat which cost xtra) so today I ordered my meat on the side so I could see how much I was getting. Upon getting my order my alleged "Hog" portion of meat would barely fill the bottom part of a sandwich container. it didn't even look like I got the normal portion of meat much less the hog portion. If I could give a 1 star, I would. The waitress brought me out burnt ribs. I asked her if all the ribs were like that, so the waitress brought me 2 uncooked ribes and took the 3 burnt ribs back to the kitchen. The chicken was uncooked as well. I ordered sweet potato fries but I received regular fries. The waitress brought out a order of sweet potato fries with no flavor that appeared to have been sitting for a while and warmed up in the microwave. The waitress knew I wasn't happy with my meal and never went to go get a manager or ask me how could she make up for my bad experience. This was my first time ordering pulled pork in Fleming Island. I picked Bono's as they were very close and I was hoping to turn this into my go-to bbq place. I was surprisingly disappointed. As far as the delivery through Door Dash- very fast! But, I believe I know why it was so fast. I opened the bag and immediately saw that the sauce I ordered was not in the bag. I was hoping for some spicy sauce to give it extra zing, but I assume Bono's figured I didn't really want it or couldn't be bothered to include it. I opened the container. Keep in mind less than 15 minutes passed between the order and delivery. It was cold. Not warm, cold. On top of that, it was nothing but crumbly pulled pork that looked like it had been scraped out of the bottom of a pan which had been sitting for some time. The finale to this glorious disaster was the pork was not only cold, but dry and flavorless. I'm wondering if I just caught them on a bad night, or they simply don't care because I find it hard to believe anyone would crave bbq from there. Perhaps it's different if you dine in, but as far as for me ordering delivery ever again, I will have to go with someone else. This was just not good in any way and I think it was a complete lack of effort to provide good food. As a disabled veteran that frequently orders delivery due to my inability to always get out to dine, I do not trust Bono's to deliver a quality product. read more

Just had lunch at Bobo's Bar-B-Q @ 2pm and it certainly was busy. Our first time there and I must say Everything was EXCELLENT! We were seated immediately and both the Hostess and Waitress were Outstanding. I ordered Brisket & Pulled Pork my husband had Brisket & Ribs. I haven't been to a bbq place in a really long long time. I am always smelling that good smoked bbq while working in this area and so I had to go ahead and finally get a plate. I ordered a large rib plate with 2 sides. You get 6 ribs in the large. The ribs tasted just as good as it smelled! I love that smokey flavor and they were very tender. My two sides were collard greens and coleslaw. The collard greens had a different flavor than what I'm used to but, they were sooo good! I loved the flavor! The coleslaw, not so much. It was really sour. Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be or if it had gone bad but, I like sweet coleslaw and that wasn't it. I got my food pretty fast, within 10 minutes. The place is clean, the employees were nice. Would have gave 5 star if it wasn't for the slaw. I will definitely come back though! Looking forward to trying the smoked wings next! read more

This local Fleming Island has been here about 15 years or more. We come here about once s month or so. The inside is never full but the drive through does a healthy business. The waitstaff is always helpful and the food is consistently delicious. This is a come as you are barbecue chain but the consistency and great food has kept them here. Come on down !! read more

Living in SoCal for the past 4 years, I really missed good southern barbecue. Once I landed in Jacksonville, the first thing I thought was bbq. Well, let me retract, the first thing I thought was grits at Waffle House, then I thought about bbq. Anyway, this joint is walking distance from my hotel and I thought *SCORE*. Yeah, more like *PSYCH*! My cousin had the pulled pork sandwich on "bbq toast". She asked me what's bbq toast and I said garlic bread. Almost. It was garlic bread with out the butter or the garlic. She said the pulled pork tasted really good. She had it with a baked sweet potato and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made with powdered cheese. I had the bbq turkey sandwich. The turkey was cut way to thick and made me think of that Boars Head commercial where they show all the imitation turkey makers pumping balloons with ground up turkey and other fillers. That's what it tasted like. The sauce was weird, I had to mix two together to get a decent mix of sweet and tangy. Even though the sauce was called sweet and tangy. I had the fried corn and baked sweet potato. It's kinda hard to mess up a sweet potato, and the fried corn was just gratuitous grease. They may as well have dropped it in some hot water, then my meal might have been healthy. And of course, being in the south, was excited to be able to order sweet tea with my meal. It was ok, but my sweet tea is better. I wanted to order the banana pudding, but based on the rest of the meal, I doubt it would live up to my own recipe either. read more

Not a place I would go for Ribs. The ribs had the membrane which made it difficult to separate the meat. Meat was tough, and needed more seasoning. The best part I guess is that the ribs had the smoke smell. Chicken was not memorable. Again, the smoke smell was the best part. Beans were good and would recommend to anyone. I used to love going here for BBQ because of the drive thru and we get military discounts. Tonight I was disappointed because they got my drive thru order wrong and I told the woman I'm military. Not only did I get ribs instead of my brisket but also no discount. It was too late to go back after I got home and found the mistake but I tried to eat the ribs and it was too tough to even get off the bone and mostly fat. I threw 2 of the 3 out. I'm grateful for the discount when any business offers it, but a little unhappy that she just took my card without acknowledging that I even said it and didn't doublecheck my order. First time visitor. I ordered the pork platter that came with two sides. The sweet tea was good - not too sweet. The pork was good. The platter comes in a small and large size. The small is 5 oz. of pork, the large 8 oz. The two sides I selected were the baked beans and green beans. There are no descriptions on the menu of what's "in" the sides. I had wanted the green beans as something that tasted difference from all of the bbq flavor. No such luck. The green beans had fatty beef or pork with other things in with them. Very rich flavor and overly salty. The baked beans were so sweet, I couldn't finish them. Sugar and bbq flavor was overwhelming. Service was good. I've been going to Bono's BBQ throughout Jax for over 20 years and this is the worst location. The food is average for a Bono's but their prices have exceeded their quality. The latest kicker was when I asked for my drink in a large to go cup, I was told that would be an extra .50 on top of the $2.19 drink charge. It is pretty obvious that this is a franchise location, ruled with an iron fist as the waitress run pretty scared. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and head across the street (literally) to Mojo's BBQ. Much more kid friendly and will always take care of you. read more

Came here before and the food was mediocre. Tried it again about a year later and what can I say, this place sucks and I agree with the previous reviews. The brisket is served cold, over cooked, rubbery and lacks flavor. While I was eating, there were other patrons sending their food back claiming the same thing. I was a frequent visitor and very happy each time I went. However, they must have changed hands and the new ownership is not the same. They don't cut out the poorer quality outsides or fat from the pork plate (my favorite) so it leaves more on my plate when I am done. Probably won't go back soon.
