I love me some COLBY (and I am not talking about Jack Cheese ). Colby was my waiter at The Toasted Yolk, and he was very knowledgeable about the menu, professional, and best of all very personable. He made my dining experience even better. I went to have brunch with a friend and absolutely enjoyed the large well lit dining area with a quiet ambiance due to the time of our arrival. I ordered the salmon salad with a side of fries. The salmon was cooked and seasoned to perfection. No need to add salt nor pepper to the meal. The fries were just the right temperature to enjoy them as soon as the plate hit the table. Once set up, Colby stayed not too close and not too far to serve use if we needed something else. He was attentive but not aggressive with waiting for our order. I ordered a Purple Pulse drink and it was fixed to perfection. The taste was absolutely quenching but not over powering. I will definitely return. I love that they have a military discount.

Visiting from New Jersey for the week, we decided to try a local spot instead of another franchise chain. This place has a fresh, stand-alone vibe and really stands out. When you walk in, it's bright, lively, and decorated in green tones. They have a full breakfast menu and even a bar for those who want a boozy brunch. There are plenty of options soups, salads, and sandwiches you can mix and match into a combo. We started with the churro donuts, which were absolutely delicious hot, fresh, and paired with a homemade sauce that took them to the next level. The drinks were flavorful (maybe a little heavy on the tequila, but honestly, no complaints there!). Overall, if you're in the area and looking for a breakfast or lunch spot, this is the perfect place for brunch with friends or family.

Nicholas, our server was AMAZING!!!! When asked what he recommended, he was able to identify several items on the menu and explain why they were good. I had the brisket scrambled egg tacos, which I will say were out of this world! Rich with flavor they were very filling and hit the spot. Good job Nicholas recommending that! My friend had the eggs Benedict, which looked great but what impressed me the most were the grits. Though I did not have them they were nice and thick (should have had those so need to come back for BOTH Nicholas & the food). I have to say it was worth the drive over the Buckley Bridge to get here, the restaurant is bright, airy, clean, and I very much enjoyed the colorful way they say welcome to Fleming Island on the wall. Overall, this was a great experience and worth the drive across the pond. Management should acknowledge Nicholas for outstanding customer-centered skills!!!

Always a fan favorite in the morning, service is good. Food is good, the inside is nice and clean. Nothing that blows you away but definitely a solid place!

The wait staff was extremely friendly, but I wasn't blown away by the food. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The grits were good but the gravy was thin and watery and didn't have a lot of flavor. The shrimp had a hint of an almost vinegary taste to it. The portion sizes were very large and their bacon was thick cut and cooked perfectly. I'll definitely give them another try, I will just steer clear of the shrimp and grits next time.

Food and service was excellent! I ordered the Cali Fresh Omelette with Hashbrown Casserole, sourdough toast and I had to try the pancake which was huge and I throughly enjoyed. The omelette was a generous four-egg omelette stuffed with spinach, sautéed mushrooms, broccoli, tomatoes and feta. It was very good! Will definitely be back!

We tried again after last time not being so great but quite a while ago. We walked in and were immediately sat at a high top and told the name of our server. We waited 15 minutes and never saw her. We only saw someone drop food to a nearby table. We considered going to the bar or asking the hostess stand to get someone, but when I looked, no one was at the hostess stand and at that point it seemed that they were too busy for it to turn out good and we left without anyone noticing.

This place? HANDS. DOWN. The best brunch spot around -- no debate. We got smart and hopped on the waitlist early (pro tip: DO THIS if you don't wanna wait forever drooling at other people's food). The portions? Massive. The service? Zoom-fast. The coffee? Hotter than your group chat tea. I went all-in with the 4-yolk scrambled + brisket plate (because why settle for 2 yolks?) and a side of hash browns. And y'all... if you're a cheese fanatic? BUCKLE UP. They do not hold back. It's basically a cheese lover's dream come true. My husband? He tackled the French toast -- and they don't mess around. Thick, glorious slices of bread that looked like they came straight from a bakery in heaven. One word: DIVINE. We're already plotting our return, so brunch crew -- get ready. We're coming back hungry.

We visited this new breakfast/lunch spot in Fleming Island and think it's going to be great. All new restaurants have their growing pains, but The toasted Yolk staff was kind and communicative and we were happy to be patient. My parents both got egg breakfasts and my mom had some of the best cheese grits I'd had. My teen got a HUGE chicken sandwich with fries and he was super happy with it. I got the BLT which was loaded with extra crispy bacon and fresh lettuce and tomato. The sweet potato fries on the side were also yummy and perfectly seasoned. I liked that the bread wasn't too thick and was toasted just right. We want to come back for a true brunch experience with drinks from their full bar; but we WILL be back!

So excited about having another brunch place in the area. This place offers a large variety on their menu, from great breakfast choices to soup, salads and sandwiches. Lots of choices in Mimosas flavors. I had a grapefruit mimosa, and it was fabulous. The service was great. The food came in quick. The interior is very Florida. They were very friendly and had everything in order. The chicken salad I ordered was fabulous. I just can't wait to go back and try some others items on their menu very soon!

Finally! A breakfast/lunch go-to in Fleming Island!!! Could not be more excited. The Toasted Yolk opened last week and, though there are still a few kinks to be worked out, I can tell it's going to be a fantastic addition to our local dining options. The atmosphere is open and clean. There's background music but it doesn't drown out conversation. There was a waiting list to be seated but the 15 minute wait was reasonable. Every table was full. Our server, "B as in bumble bee " was friendly, efficient, and 5 stars. Will definitely be back.

We were in the area and saw this place on Yelp. Mixed reviews but we decided to take our chances. Short wait to be seated but the host did a great job keeping the waiting parties organized and seated as soon as tables were cleared. Heather was our server and she did a great job. It was very busy but not excessively noisy. Our daughter just wanted the blueberry cake donuts and said they were really good. I had the Yolkwich with side of cheesy grits which was all just okay. Nothing over the top but solid meal. My husband got the brisket tacos. Although it looked a little commercial when it came out, he said the tacos were really good. Everything was hot and fresh. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but it's a great breakfast/brunch option if you're local.

The little salad had a very nice dressing and the eggs had a very tasty seasoning. Overall what a nice way to break your fast. Service--9.5/10. The only complaint I have is service was a little slow and it was a very cold morning one of our frozen days here in Northeast Florida. The combination of that meant because the young lady at the counter was taking another order that my food sat for a couple of moments before it was brought to me, and I was starting to get quite cool. Other than that, the food was fantastic, and she was clearly hustling to the best of her ability. Atmosphere--10/10. A very charming little shop. The exterior and interior are both so cute and quaint. It makes you feel very welcome. It could be a little warmer inside, but usually down here in Florida. We're dealing with the opposite end of the thermometer and trying to keep things cool so these few frosty days that we had this month definitely were more than most of us are prepared for.

This place has apparently only been open for a week when we sat down, so there is probably a few 'new place' exceptions/errors that should improve over time. To be completely honest, I know next to nothing about Cuban food, having experienced maybe 2-3 Cubano sandwiches in my entire life in different parts of the world. My buddy and i decided to tread lightly and get some initial impressions of the appetizers. He ordred the Tostones, while I got the 'Cuban Cigars'. The tostones were a solid 7/10, and came as 3 pretty pieces. The "Cuban Cigars" were described as 'Cuban sandwich-flavored crispy shells', and came served in a Cohiba ashtray (top marks for presentation). They tasted ok, probably a 6.5/10, and the best way I can describe it is they tasted like Hispanic flavored Chinese eggrolls. We also ordered the Pina colada frozen drinks, which were a bit too sweet for my taste buds. In all fairness, I can't give a confident review of the entire place based on these 3 orders, and will likely come back for some of the steak entrees. They have a live music on weekends, so if you're not fully sleep on a Sunday evening, I suggest popping in here for a snack and a nightcap, listen to some oldies, before heading home.

A new Cuban gem in Fleming Island! Tried Habana Mariel Cuban Restaurant (Mindy's Cuban Kitchen for…read moreshort) after seeing a movie at the AMC theaters in Fleming Island. What a delight! The food and atmosphere were outstanding. Their menu is filled with a wide selection of Cuban favorites making it difficult to choose. My wife had the stuffed Mahi Mahi that was a large fish portion, breaded, perfectly fried and stuffed with ham and cheese. She had wonderfully spiced black beans and sweet plantains to round out the meal. I had one of their specialties, Rice with Shrimp. It was a huge mound of delightful and perfectly spiced Sazon rice stuffed with approximately a dozen or so small shrimp that was to die for and came with 4 large sweet plantains. Both dishes were large enough that we had leftovers for lunch the next day. The restaurant is nicely decorated in Cuban chic and there is authentic Cuban/latin music playing in the background to help give the restaurant a Cuban vibe. We didn't have room for dessert so we'll have to try that the next time we visit. The only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star review was the fact that the restaurant only had one server and though she was very nice, helpful in making selections and tried to be prompt, as the restaurant filled up, it was difficult to handle all the duties effectively. However, this should not deter anyone from going to Habana Mariels for lunch or dinner as I'm sure that the owners (who also own Palermo's in Orange Park--see my reviews for that wonderful Puerto Rican restaurant--will rectify this situation soon. Please give "Mindy's" the short name for Habana Mariels a try. You won't regret it.
