The picnic table area is directly right next to the playground, which is so ideal! The bathrooms & parking are a bit far of a walk from the playground and unfortunately no swings, but absolutely love this park!! (Also if planning a bigger event like an invite list birthday party I highly recommend calling vista parks and recreation to make a proper reservation for the covered picnic table area!The ranger comes out very early in the morning and mark it off as officially reserved signs! Brought me great peace of mind!)

This park has a little bit of everything--playground, soccer field, basketball courts, baseball…read morefield, clean bathrooms, a walking/jogging path around the park, and even the San Luis Trail that leads straight to Oceanside Beach. It's tucked away in a residential area, which gives it a more private feel, even though it's actually pretty large. The parking lot is easy to access, and there are plenty of benches and tables for picnics or parties. The only thing I wish it had is a designated dog park area, since sometimes dog owners do not pick up after their pets. Other than that, I really enjoy this park and highly recommend it.

This is not a typical California park- it's perfect. The bathrooms were all gender, new, stocked up on supplies and insanely clean! I'm so impressed with this park that it has us considering to get a second place in Fallbrook. We've pinned it when we pass through next time.

I could just see my kids getting bored...and then saying..."Are we going home? I'm bored!". Well, Rancho Del Oro solved that problem...how?! Let me tell you! They have a nice area cornered off for kids! No really, it's true! It's right by the tennis courts. So, parents, take note...get there early, and set up right before the ground slopes downward. Kids can play and be within sight at all times. A group of hula hoop dancers brought out tons of hula hoops after their performance for the kids to play with. There were gymnastic mats too. I really couldn't believe how content my kids were. Two opening acts, and the the main act came out. The Mar Dels were the big performers tonight. I've wanted to see them forever...and they didn't disappoint. Tons of cover songs from the 1950-1970's, and a nice sized danced floor right infront of the stage. People were thoroughly enjoying their Friday night....and was this girl! My kids played while my friend and I ate pizza, brownies, and drank beer. Family friendly, dog friendly, great venue...I'll be back!

Once you pull in though everything opens up into this lush wilderness. It has a huge parking lot. Once you get on the trail it is well maintained and plenty of space for dogs joggers strollers etc. Bird watchers this is your heaven! There were so many different species in here. The funnest part of this trail is there is choose your own adventure. Along the way you choose left or right over and over. You can't go wrong because it is a beautiful view no matter which way you turn. The best part of all is if you are the type to get lost like me it will spit you out into the parking lot because it's a huge loop. A huge loop with different trails what a great place! The only reason I gave it a four-star instead of a five is unfortunately it's built right on the side of mission Ave which is the main avenue going into fallbrook so there is a lot of traffic noise. That is only part of the trail though not the whole thing. I will be back here on my days off because it's an easy going 1 mile so I feel like I barely had to do anything, got into nature and got my steps in.

Some parts of the trail were flooded, but we were still able to find a one-mile loop around the affected areas. The scenery was beautiful with all the trees and fallen leaves glistening in the rain. I definitely want to come back when it's not raining and the trails aren't flooded.

Park is in nice shape and was very quiet on a Monday on a holiday. The weather was gray and started raining a little so that could have something to do with it. It was nice to see dog owners walking their dogs and letting them roam around taking full advantage of what the park has to offer. It is very close to a gate to enter Camp Pendleton. There is plenty of geocaching nearby too.

Short hike, roughly 1.6 miles round trip. The initial start of the hike is very scenic with shade…read more It's all uphill essentially during the paved portion of the trail for a about a half mile. There is lots of scenery as you look to your left, views of mountains, etc. Once the paved path ends, don't stop, continue through the first path. I think people felt this trail was only a mile because they stopped where the pavement ended. You continue on passing some residential house/fencing along the dirt path. When you see the fork, go left (going up is residential housing). You continue until it's too overgrown to pass (see photos). We roughly did 1.8 miles from the car in and back in about 45 mins. Super easy, super nice views! We stopped to take a lot of pictures so we probably could have done the trail in about half an hour.

This is an awesome place if you could just not have ticks there. I don't recommend going at least…read morenot when I went which was the middle of April. We were covered in text. Most definitely do not explore anything off trail and check yourself head to toe.
