One of my favourite books of all time...
    John S.

Walked by this place many times but like scout and Jem with boos backyard I've never come in(Not out of fear but more a lack of time). It even felt like I was entering boos' backyard as I walked towards the entrance minus the tree. As the entrance is kind of hidden, unlike most restaurants where there is a front door they have you enter from a side door, at which point you have to go through a set of drapes, kind of how the kids must've felt when they went into boo's backyard. But not like the book at all the inside is not scary, the service pretty good, and the food spectacular, In this Hipster bar. I wanted to get the Wings which go fast when they are busy, Meaning they were out at the time of my visit the Poutine was pretty was good, familiar taste to other bars I've frequented and it got even better with hot sauce, something that has never been brought to my table with poutine before, Next time I will ask for it, wherever I go. Now because I have a beyond average appetite I got the garlic shrimp which are grilled and really good, I couldn't really decide whether it tasted better with the lemon or without the lemon squeezed on top. all in all the meal with a pitcher of Canadian came to 48.53 with tax and tip. Pretty good night on the town.

Ooo what's gem of a bar in the Junction area! We stumbled across this bar because of the lively patio at 10 pm on a weekday, and Boo Radley's looked like the hangout spot to just chill and have good talks at. We ordered a pitcher of Henderson's Best which came out promptly crisp. I ordered the burger which came out pretty substantial with a side of (in my opinion) the most beautiful thin natural-cut fries I've had in a while. My friend ordered the 10 oz steak that was served with a heaping pile of Caesar salad and fries. We also forgot we ordered a small order of nachos - but they were soo worth the extra 1000 calories.. Atmosphere was nostalgically cozy and familiar- like you're going to your best friend's cool parents place where they had awesome selection of beer and you just felt welcomed. Service was great with a very no-frills-but-all-joy attitude. All in all, great local joint.

I like Boo's, primarily, because it is right next door to my house. Seriously, the attached pic is of the view from my living room picture window - that brick building is Boo's. Boo's is cool though. Mike, the owner is an amazing guy, with lots of stories to tell, real talkative and welcoming. I've gone there for family meals, as well as night caps. Their patio is the gem of the Junction Triangle, lots of seating and a big ol tree growing up through the middle of it. Sports on the screens, a dart board, pool table and a pinball machine or two. This place is a worthy and gracious local, and, being that they're my neighbour, pretty good about lending me a cup of sugar or a bulb of garlic here and there.

The Hubster and I came here for a casual dinner and drinks last night and were quite pleased. For one thing, we both got what we were craving foodwise (he a burger, me prime rib, their Sunday special! $14.95 WHAAAATTT?!) They also had some good choices of craft beer. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was comfortable. The Hubster ate his entire burger and fries in a couple minutes, and I enjoyed my prime rib a little more slowly. Both were great, and I loved the fries. The meals weren't fine dining standard, but they were filling, very tasty and the price was right. They were a bit better than most pub food. When we left, we were formulating the best way to return without a car, so we could properly enjoy the place, particularly during patio season. Note, cash and debit only!

I live in the area and had been meaning to check out this little bar/restaurant. Came here last Monday (during the long weekend) and was surprised it was busier than I would have thought - patio was almost full. We managed to grab a small table on the patio. The menu has typical bar type food. I had the fish & chips and my fiance had the buffalo chicken sandwich - both were really good and came out super fast. Service was also super friendly. This is a great casual place to come with your friends for a bite and some drinks. I'll def be back.

Came here on a quiet saturday at around 10pm and the place had a decent amount of people for being in the middle of nowhere. I got the burger, which was pretty average (ingredients tasted fresh enough, and bun was soft, patty was very well done though and not super juicy). My friend got the chicken and brie sandwhich (he asked for pear jam on the side, but it came on the sandwich...it taste good, and the server asked if we were okay with it a couple of minutes later when she checked up on us and realized the mistake). The best part were the shoestring fries...Freshly fried, salted to perfection with little bits of potato skin still on them so they felt like real potato fries. It's got a very laid back mellow vibe, think dive bar, mixed with local tavern. Our water was super friendly, and apparently the menu is being updated, so I think I'll be heading back to try the new stuff when it's out.

Came here with my coworkers after rock climbing next door. We had a wonderful time with drinks and dinner at their patio. I had the shrimp sandwich (not sure what it was called on the menu). It was lightly fried and very delicious, the bun was a but dense though I might add. The fries were freshly fried and crispy.

Steak salad. The fresh sliced cheese this was really good!!!! Not even sure what kind of cheese it was because our waiter wasn't sure. :/

Best neighbourhood watering hole. Great place to relax over a beer. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend supporting local business.

They gave us the table directly in front of the counter where the cashier stays, so I requested a different table which we then had to wait another 10 to 15 minutes for. This is not at all a complaint as it was requested. The service was good but most of the servers didn't really speak English, which I guess is to be expected in Chinatown. I don't have any complaints about that. The food took about 10-15 minutes once ordered. We ordered the Grilled Squid, Grilled Oysters, Beef Ribs, Chicken Thigh Skewers, Bean Curd Rolls w/ Cilantro, Grilled Eggplant and Cauliflower. Pretty much everything was over flavoured and lots of MSG. The beef ribs were quite good. Not the best I've had but good. The chicken skewers were fine. The oysters tasted pretty decent but I only had a couple bites of one because I'm not a huge fan of oysters. The bean curd rolls were fine but they could have been better if they took the time to put just cilantro leaves in there not the whole stems, which made them take forever to chew. The grilled eggplant was good only because I love eggplant, there was waaay too much seasoning for the thin piece of eggplant. The cauliflower was my favourite but again, the seasoning should be toned down. The Grilled Squid we both took one bite of and could immediately tell it was either not fresh or not good quality so we didn't eat it. They removed it from the bill as requested which we appreciated. They had free self serve slushies which was a cute touch. Overall the staff and service was good but the food was below average, which was disappointing given the restaurant's rating.

There's no reservation system but they do have a waitlist on Yelp which gets you in line (highly recommended). First to know is you can't pay with credit card here--there's an ATM in the front of the restaurant. As far as the restaurant goes, it was fantastic from start to finish. Our table of 4 was seated and serviced by 1 main staff member, Lydia, who talked us through the whole menu and ordering system, recommended some great starts and then kept us frequently updated all throughout dinner. She checked up on us along with her assistants who were also bringing items and servicing the table. The food quality was excellent with juicy and flavorful cuts of beef along with the shrimp, pork, veggies, side dishes/ponchon, and rice--it kept coming consistently. Grill changes were frequent as well. The atmosphere is lively and there are a lot of servers so you aren't trying get someone's attention all the time. But it doesn't feel too cramped at the same time. As it is AYCE, everyone in our group left full of course and enjoyed each course. I liked the almond tofu at the end! ----TL;DR---- Pros: great selection of meats, quality was top notch, huge portions of course as it is AYCE, service was prompt and all staff were really friendly. Cons: no reservations so need to be on a waitlist. The no credit card system is a bit of an inconvenience. Bottom Line: we loved it--definitely would go back again and enjoy more of their selections! You have to try them if you like meat and AYCE!

We walked into a lively, casual space that works especially well for groups, celebrations, or any meal where you want to take your time and enjoy the experience. The energy in the room is high, with the sound of grilling and conversation filling the space, and the table setup encourages a longer, more relaxed pace than a typical restaurant meal. The biggest highlight is the meat selection. The quality is consistently strong, with different cuts and marinades that give each plate its own flavor. The miso steak is one of the standout items, with a really good balance of savory, slightly sweet, and rich flavors. The marinated meats are where Gyubee really shines, coming seasoned well and developing a great char from grilling at the table. We worked through a range of options including kalbi, hanger steak, and sausage, mixing and matching as we went. The fun part is being able to control the cooking yourself, whether you prefer a lighter sear or a deeper grilled flavor, and the grill setup makes it easy to cook at your own pace. The sides and extras are also better than what we usually expect from an all you can eat BBQ spot. The sushi was surprisingly enjoyable, with smaller portions that made it easy to try different rolls without filling up too quickly. The bibimbap is another good addition, especially when paired with the grilled meats. Takoyaki and other sides helped break up the meal and added variety beyond just ordering meat after meat. The spread is broad enough that you can build a well rounded meal without feeling like you are stuck in a single category. Service was a strong part of the experience. Even with the restaurant being busy, the staff were attentive and checked in regularly to make sure we had what we needed. They kept the table moving, helped with ordering, and made the process feel smooth despite the constant flow of guests. The wait can be the biggest challenge, especially during dinner hours, but the service once seated helped make up for it. The staff also handled the high turnover of tables well, keeping the pace steady without making us feel rushed. Gyubee is one of those places where the experience is just as important as the food. The combination of grilling at the table, quality meats, good sides, and a fun group atmosphere makes it a great choice for a longer meal with friends or family. It is worth planning ahead for the wait because the meal itself delivers the kind of relaxed, interactive dining experience that makes you want to come back. The format encourages you to slow down, cook at your own pace, and enjoy the meal as a shared activity rather than just a quick dinner.

Really disappointing experience…read more I placed a $200+ Uber Eats order for myself and guests on a Friday night, expecting a reliable dinner from a BBQ restaurant. Instead, I waited over an hour with no update. When I finally called the restaurant to check on the order, I was casually told that it had been cancelled because they ran out of food. The problem is that no one bothered to notify me. No message in the app, no call -- nothing. I was simply left waiting for over an hour for an order they apparently already knew they couldn't fulfill. What made it worse was the attitude on the phone. The person I spoke with was rude and dismissive, with no apology or attempt to make the situation right. Now I'm told the refund could take up to 10 business days to return to my credit card. Running out of food happens. Ignoring a $200+ order for over an hour on a Friday night and then being rude to the customer is unacceptable. Plenty of better BBQ options in the city -- I won't be ordering from here again.
