It's larger than it looks from the outside (there's even an upstairs with used/old books that would be easy to miss, since the staircase is sort of hidden behind a wall of the shop), and they have a pretty great selection for a small independent bookshop. I just needed one book (I thought I might finish the memoir I'd brought with me on my weekend trip to the area), but I left with...3? I can't even remember. I kept finding more intriguing books! It's charming, has a great inventory, and seems a great shop! With so many independent and even chain bookstores closing, it feels like a lot of towns/neighborhoods don't have a bookshop anymore. Shepherdstown residents are lucky to have a shop as wonderful as Four Seasons - a place big enough that you can browse and find a book you didn't even know about before you wandered in. Really a charming shop. I'd happily return if I make to Shepherdstown again!

I actually ran into the owners and they were so sweet explaining the history of the store and even recommending some of their favorites. Whoever the female cashier was at register #4565. Not a single Hello. She did ask if I had a rewards card, but got frustrated when I tried to search for it. She didn't even do the bare minimum. She didn't offer a bag when it was RAINING HARD and I had purchased more than 3 books . She handed me one after I asked, and then didn't even bag them herself. (You're getting paid to be a cashier, act like one.) Mind you, this is the second time I've experienced a rude cashier with poor, disgruntled attitude.

I like that this B&N has CHAIRS!!! I think the chairs are such an underrated feature of B&Ns, and I appreciate that this one has little reading 'nooks' throughout the store, so you can kind of hang out and enjoy the bookstore ambiance while you read and maybe sip your little drinky drink! This is one of the few Barnes locations in the surrounding areas that actually has chairs and/or book nooks. The employees are very nice and helpful and the store is always in good order and clean. I've had no issues in this store. The only thing that I might consider a potential downside is that this location is quite busy typically, so if you're looking for a quiet, empty Barnes, this isn't the one!

This store is supposed to be one of the smallest in the chain, but doesn't show it. Large selection of books, comics, DVD/Blu-ray's, and toys/collectables. If you don't know about 2nd & Charles, most of the items are used trade-ins from other customers, so you can never be sure what will be in stock. We had several questions about prices of items behind the counter which were quickly answered and the employees were helpful. Had a good selection of Manga but a smaller selection of Anime DVD/Blu-ray's. A large selection of comic longboxes were available, but per other 2nd & Charles their organization was not the best. Overall, store was clean and organized with an on-par selection of items compared to other stores. I would return here again.

You definitely have to search around a little bit and have plenty of time. The shelves are neat but alphabetizing was completely absent in some areas. I didn't like that there wasn't much of a current nonfiction section, or if there was one it was so unremarkable I missed it. Staff was very friendly and pleasant. I like how there are chairs scattered throughout the store. Very inviting. Two problems... 1. it was freaking freezing! It was in the 30s outside yesterday and it was actually a relief once I left and got in my car. They had a couple space heaters and it is a small space, but it was incredibly cold. I would've stayed a lot longer had I not been uncomfortable. 2. Hours aren't great: 10-4 everyday except closed on Sundays. Makes it difficult for people who work Mon-Fri such as myself to get in there. Despite the small issues, I was so happy to find a little bookstore in Martinsburg w/ such a nice selection. I'll definitely be shopping there now.

He was very helpful and pleasant to be around. Much of the books are in the Korean Language, but there are many books that have both English and Korean writing. I saw comic books with Asian spreading the word of God, but doing it in a way kids through adults can understand. Oh, did I mention Hello Kitty too? Hello Kitty watches, dishwasher sets and even a sleeping bag to name a few things. If business doesn't get better for the owner here, I eventually will end up closing the store forever. The owner does sell jewelry too. Especially if you are into holly crosses. There maybe something in here for you. Seek and you shall find...

Now it's a Korean establishment with books exclusively in Korean so if you are not fluent, you will be a fish out of water. This would be a great place to shop for your Korean parents, in-laws, or kids. The owners are extremely kind as well and provide excellent service if you can adequately request it in our native language.

Few dozen boxes of beat-up, low-grade comics priced as though they were mint by someone who obviously knows little about comics. Seriously: there are modern-age, common, coverless comics with 3.99 marked on them. Even their "premium" back issue in the glass cabinets are largely low and mid-grade books priced as though they were mint. Laughable. Go for the used books - avoid the picked over comic section - it is a waste of time and makes me wince just looking at it. Friendly enough staff.
