Visited this cafe twice while on a family vacation. Fantastic spot! They have great seating and atmosphere, and the baristas are very friendly. Back when I lived in the area, this was truly a Bookstore. That's how I remember it, two full rooms and shelving through out=r. It was a few decades ago, maybe they had a coffee counter but I don't remember it as such. Certainly not the many coffee shop food offerings with only one room of books in the back. a lot of it is novelly stuff too, tows and cards, gifts and mugs etc. Very nice assortments, but just not predominantly books. The collection for children is still very nice. That is mostly what I remember buying. This was before the internet, Amazon, Target and the like. Barnes and Noble was a NY Bookstore, not a chain. Dates me, I know. Today, we just browsed though, saw friendly staff serving coffee drinks and food, lots of comfortable seating and a fair number of customers sitting and enjoying. There was no staff in the book department, but a nice feel all around. It's right in the heart of Pacific Grove. read more

Convivial atmosphere, with outdoor seating option, for doggy patrons. Splendid adjunct bookstore with superb assortment of local themed books and great gift book assortment. We stayed in Pacific Grove in Oct 2023. This became my go-to coffee place in the morning. It is located in the PG Downtown area. There is plenty of parking if you decide to drive. It's also a few blocks from Lover's Point. So you can get your coffee to-go and take a walk down by the water. There was a variety of coffees, lattes, teas, etc. Order without whipped cream so you get the artistic foam on your latte. Coffee was very good - not bitter at all. Muffins, scones, and cookies all looked delicious. Baristas are friendly and called several customers by name. If there is a line, don't let it deter you. It moves quickly. There's comfortable seating inside (small wood tables and chairs and a couple of nice couches). During the week there seemed to always be a person or two on laptops working away. Outdoor tables and chairs are also available. The bookstore part of the business doesn't open until 9:30-ish. Recommend that you time your coffee-run if you plan on checking out the books also. read more

This is a great little bookstore and coffee shop in downtown Pacific Grove. The two are connected but you can't take your refreshments into the bookstore. They have a lovely selection of best sellers and books on many topics for a small space. They have a large children's book area, too. The coffee shop is cozy with lots of eclectic seating and a nice menu of seasonal beverages. I had the lavender honey latte and it was perfect. My only complaint was that there was a chilly draft as the afternoon waned and the door was left open. Otherwise, a very comfortable spot to browse books and enjoy a warm drink. read more

Everything was delicious, the line went quickly, there was enough seating for us on a Saturday morning at 1100. There are so many cool books and stuff for kids, my three year old went a little crazy. If I'm back in town I'll come again. read more

This is a cute little locally owned coffee shop, right on Lighthouse Drive with plentiful street parking and lots of indoor seating. There are a few tables outside along the side walk. The lattes are very good but the customer service is spotty. The girl who wears glasses that was working yesterday also helped us last Saturday and it might be better to have someone else interfacing directly with customers. She does the bare minimum and had a very surly attitude. This honestly made me think "next time I will go somewhere else". I prefer service with a smile. They do have Wi-fi but they change the password every day so just ask for the password. read more

Cute place, very good selection of books for a full range of readers - by that I mean they've also got a good kids section...not sure what a bookstore for poor readers looks like, but I like the idea... I digress, there's also a very good selection of gifts and we were able to get a very nice one for our granddaughter that we'll finally get to see soon. I go to Bookworks every Monday before going to the Pacific Grove Farmer's Market. It's a great little bookstore with a coffee house in front. I always get an oat milk latte and a cookie. The coffee is fine. The people working there are always changing, but they've always been reasonably pleasant to me. The cookies are good, not too soft, not too crunchy, and not too sweet. It's always crowded and many of the people there are reading books which is nice to see. The bookstore itself has a decent selection, not always everything I'm looking for, but I like to support local bookstores. They're an important part of the community. read more

A cute bookshop and coffee shop in one. The service was great, the cashier was really friendly as I was kind of asking a bunch of questions about their menu. I opted for an iced vanilla latte to be safe and it was decent. Nothing great nor horrible. My partner got the honey lavender latte and wasn't impressed either. SUCH a lovely coffe and book store. We came on a foggy day and spent a good bit of time sitting inside and reading as well as browsing the books for sale in the back. The inside is very comfortable with ample seating and space to move around. The Ginger Lime Rooibos tea is amazing and the employees were all so nice and enthusiastic about customizing orders. What an amazing place. I found it unexpectedly as I was looking for a bookstore during our stay in Monterey. Of course a coffee shop attached to a bookstore is a dream come true! My husband and I loved our cofffees and pastries (cheese danish and a croissant). I then got lost in all the wonderful books next door. I bought 7 books, and some cute bookmarks. There was plenty of outdoor seating, but we were in a hurry and couldn't stop. I will definitely come back here when in the area again, and can't wait go enjoy their delicious coffee and dive into a good book, or in writing my own book. read more

Bookworks has been a family favorite of ours for a couple of decades. We've visited many times through its metamorphosis. My husband and I frequented when we'd stay for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. Especially favored when we'd amble down from one of a couple B&B's we used to stay. Then we added our daughter to the family and she's enjoyed perusing all of the picture books, then middle reader books and now YA books. We stopped in last weekend as we came out for the day to celebrate our 21st anniversary. My hubby needed some go-go juice so we stopped in and ordered a slow-drip coffee for him, an amaretto latte for myself and a hot cocoa for our daughter and enjoyed them on the patio with our Doodle Darwin. Our drinks were fantastic and served in lovely reusable mugs. I love that I didn't have to ask for a "for here" mug. After we enjoyed our drinks my daughter and I visited the bookstore. Much like the tent in Goblet of Fire or the T.A.R.D.I.S it's bigger on the inside. It is a smallish bookstore, but is surprisingly chock full of great titles. We immediately found two books to purchase and would have purchased a fair few more, but are on a tiny book diet right now. :) My point is... if you were on a book bender, you could certainly fall off the wagon here. The only fault with Bookworks is that we don't have one here in Livermore. Also, if they started carrying a bit of yarn I'd probably never leave... it would be the trifecta of vices for me... coffee/tea, books and yarn. This is my favorite latte - anywhere. So creamy and delicious. I prefer to get it in a mug to enjoy on one of the comfy couches while I read the Weekly or people watch. I went here to get a scone and some coffee. I went here with a friend and after walking around the town. The coffee warmed us up and the cozy atmosphere was kept us there for over an hour. Our coffee went perfectly with our scone. Seating was comfortable and the windows are great for people watching. I could totally sit inside for a long time. Stopped by this little shop on a whim after golf. Friendly staff with interesting coffee and tea options. The pumpkin bread was excellent. My sister said the lemon cake was bomb .
