As an out of state visitor, I referred to Yelp to find a nice restaurant and stumbled upon Rudolfo's. I was a walk in but upon hearing a 30-45 min wait, I decided to order to go online. I got a text roughly 10 mins after placing my order online that it was ready. I then went ahead to the register area but was not helped for at least another 8 minutes. After being helped by a waiter I found out the food was actually not ready. The order online was said to be complete by 7:03 but did not physically receive my food until 7:15 an over 30 min wait from o. In addition, what solidified my 2 stars is the fact that I ordered a pizza with the garlic and parm crust, only to drive back to my hotel and realize it was not a garlic and parm crust I paid extra for. Super disappointed overall!

Great hole in the wall spot! The meatball and bread were probably my favorite part of the meal. The FOCACCIA BREAD is a must!! Perfectly crispy and buttery crust with a fluffy airy interior. It came with the meatball but I just wish the bread came on the side rather than on top so it's not soaked in sauce which was still delicious but I prefer to have the option. The carbonara and short rib pasta were good but the BEES KNEES PIZZA was better. Very crispy with lots of salty and sweet flavor and great freshness to the crust. The server was so nice and attentive. Refilling our hot tea as we sat outside during the colder evening. It was a vibe with complimentary blankets and live music outside at the restaurant right next door. Seems like the busiest place on the street so I assume a local FAVORITE!

3.5 STARS Here for the parm showers. Che Fico (SF) popularized showering freshly grated parm on pizza crusts and I love seeing the trend show up in restos like Rudolfo's. Aside from the visual appeal, they make pizza crusts extra delicious so they don't go to waste. While looking for restos for a recent staycation, Rudolfo's kept popping up on TikTok and the high ratings on yelp seemed promising. They serve Modern Italian cuisine with a California flair: salads, burgers + sandwiches, sourdough pizza, and house-made pastas. On "Heatwaves Sunday", they run a Nashville Hot Chicken pop-up. Beer and wine only. Looking for a sweet treat? There's a small dessert counter where you can stop in for their house gelato. Rezzies are a MUST for dinner. Even on a weekday, I overheard the wait being 1+ hours. Bring a warm coat! There's more seating outside than inside and there's no heat lamps. F O O D * Caesar Salad w/ romaine, caesar dressing, fried capers, breadcrumbs, parmigiano (OTH): https://tinyurl.com/yt3dut3d Our app was taking a long time so they brought this on the house - such a thoughtful gesture! I enjoyed the freshness of the romaine and the contrast of crispy, crunchy textures from the fried capers and breadcrumbs. The dressing was creamy tho quite mild. Personally, I would have preferred a bolder caesar with more garlic and stronger umami punch. * Rudolfo's Fried Chicken w/ pickles, hot sauce (App-$15): https://tinyurl.com/4jb28h8e The fried chicken arrived hot and crunchy, with a nicely craggy batter and tender meat underneath. The menu didn't state it was boneless - while less messy to eat, I felt it sacrificed some of the juiciness and flavor. I liked that the accompanying habanero sauce was fiery hot. * Short Rib Ravioli w/ tomato-garlic compound butter, beef stock reduction ($29) - add burrata (+$4) This looked amazing on TikTok but fell short in reality. The pasta itself was too thick and there was was little short rib filling. Also, the sauce was underwhelming and bland. They allowed us to add burrata which added a rich, creamy flavor. * What Rudy's Having: Tomato sugo, fennel sausage, chilis, stracciatella, basil ($23) + garlic butter parm crust ($2): https://tinyurl.com/4nuz5z8s I read that the owner previously worked at Ciccio (Yountville) and brought over their 30 year old sourdough starter. I love Ciccio's pizza and with an option to add the parm shower?! Say less. My fav part of the pizza was the crust, it had a good balance of crispiness and chew with a nice char and tang. The garlic butter and parm shower took it over the top adding a rich, garlicky, savory umami. Unfortunately, the toppings weren't my jam - the tomato sugo ran too salty and the fennel sausage felt more like ground beef. S E R V I C E Cordial. Food service was very slow with the fried chicken app taking what felt like 40 minutes so I appreciate the salad to tide us over. A M B I A N C E Cozy Italian cafe vibes on the inside and modern casual on the patio. Overall, we thought the food was just ok...obvs in the minority tho. Maybe we ordered the wrong things or it was an off day? But, I love the concept and the contemporary touches that you don't often see in Monterey County. 3.5 rounded up for a small local business.

Had to make an unexpected trip up to Monterey/Pacific Grove to drop off a vehicle for our daughter. Before arriving, she mentioned that there was a place she wanted to try based on excellent reviews from her friend. So she made reservations and off we went to Rodolfo's. The place gives off an Italian bistro vibe with a neighborhood atmosphere. That's a good thing because most of the people here were locals. We were seated and our waiter was there to take our drink and appetizer orders. I had a beer and we shared the Cheesy Garlic Bread with a side of marinara. Delicious!!! For dinner, Kylee ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Alla Vodka entrée & Caesar Salad while I had the Brisket Sando with a side of fries. Fantastic!!! We finished off the meal with the Oreo Cookie Cheesecake. This is one of those local "finds" that exceed expectations. Great food, service and ambience. Will definitely return when I visit PG.

My son and I came here after a day at the aquarium. Little hole in the wall place. My son said "mom you have to rate them at least 4.5 stars". He really enjoyed it. So did I. We ordered meatballs, tomato soup and the braised short rib dish (I think). It was VERY good! We devoured our food and had some to take home. If I remember correctly, they make the noodles in house... it was perfectly cooked. Perfect layered flavors.. no complaints and you can't beat the price or view. Service was excellent.

    Margarita Pizza and The Works
    Devin M.

8.5/10 Ordered the Margherita Pizza and The Works Burger, both had their highlights and a few drawbacks. Starting with the Margherita Pizza, a classic pie topped with fresh mozzarella and basil on a sourdough crust. The crust was easily the standout feature, crispy on the outside, airy inside, and packed with great texture. Unfortunately, the rest of the pizza fell a bit flat. The toppings were light on flavor, making it feel more like a basic chain restaurant pizza than a memorable artisan pie. 7.5/10 The Works Burger was the true star of the meal and an absolute must order. Made with wagyu beef, cheddar, caramelized onions, onion rings, pickles, and French aioli, every bite was rich, juicy, and full of flavor. The beef was well seasoned, the bun was incredibly soft, and the generous sauce tied everything together perfectly. My only complaint was that the onion ring could have been crispier to add more texture. I also appreciated being able to substitute the fries for a salad. 9.4/10 Service was fast, attentive, and welcoming despite how busy the restaurant was. We were seated outside, and they even brought us a blanket, which was a thoughtful touch that elevated the experience.

    Grapefruit and sage Paloma
    Jennifer W.

Found this lovely little place thanks to Yelp. It has a charming outdoor area, and the weather made it perfect. One caveat: their menu changes so don't get your heart set on a particular pizza. I ended up getting What Rudy's Having with a Caesar salad and a very tasty Paloma. I would definitely love to go back and try more on the menu.

    Table setting
    Elizabeth M.

Absolutely incredible! Best pasta I've had in a LONG time. The ambiance felt sophisticated yet welcoming. We even had a candle on our table --so cute! They asked if we had a reservation when we walked in, which says a lot about how popular this place is. We were quoted an hour wait but got seated in 25 minutes, and the service was still great despite how packed it was.

    Fig pie
    Kayla B.

I think this is such a solid spot, I have no complaints on the food and the FIG PIE was phenomenal. I think all the pastas are solid but the pizza was more spectacular to me. The pastas were all slightly too saucy and overcooked (slightly) for me. The espresso martini was also very very good. I think its absolutely worth a reservation here!

    Onion rings, so good!
    carissa p.

Best onion rings ever! Not much to say other than you need to try them. Pizza with hot honey was good, crust was delicious. Portion was perfect for lunch and made a great midnight snack. Brisket sandwich wasn't my favorite, the meat was shredded so finely, it felt like there was more slaw than protein. Was a bit messy and tricky to eat, the fries were my favorite part. I wouldn't order it again, but everything around me looked so good I'm excited to come back and try more. If you can sit outside, opt for an outdoor table, it's a bit warm and stuffy inside. Staff were super friendly, responsive, and everything there was loving it. Will definitely be back again.

    bee's knees pizza
    Lauren M.

Came here on a Saturday night for dinner and loved everything we ordered. The spicy rigatoni alla vodka with burrata and the Bee's Knees pizza were both excellent, and the sourdough crust on the pizza was a standout. This place gets busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation. Indoor seating is limited, but we were seated right away with our reservation while walk-ins were facing an hour wait.

Sunday service special! Berry matcha with marshmallow foam and Tiramisu Latte
    Araceli P.

The food was super yummy! You can tell a lot of time, effort, and love go into these dishes. Not only are the staff attentive to guests, but so is the owner. The hospitality only added to this places' charm. The drinks were also really good! I recommend the espresso martinis and the matcha. (Matcha served on Sundays only tho) I'll definitely be back to try more.

Margherita pizza with burrata and spicy chili honey
    Bella S.

Delicious pizza!! Great indoor and outdoor seating. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed visiting with people and their pups. (The only downside is our table was lopsided and glasses kept sliding) Servers and hostess were kind and efficient. I already want another pizza! The crust was amazing! Perfectly crisp and chewy at the same time. We ordered a Margherita with burrata and spicy chili honey drizzled on top. So good!! Our Caesar salad was also good but the pizza was definitely the star!!

The staff quickly noticed we had our 1 year old and brought us a high chair and helped us make ourselves comfortable. My son was able to eat in his chair and be loud and not stand out as there were many other children and families and the spot was loud. I appreciated this! The lasagna was a huge portion but lacked in flavor and the pizza by husband got was just ok. The breadsticks were cold and dry unfortunately, but very inexpensive. The food fell short for me but as a family friendly spot, it was perfect.

There were no tables available that would fit our party. We walked around the restaurant a few times until we saw the back section that had a few large tables. There was a reserved sign for this section but nobody seated there. We asked if they had it reserved for a party or another large group but the employee curtly replied "just go sit there." There were some racks and trays spread out throughout the tables that we ended up rearranging ourselves while the others in our group placed our order at the counter. The staff at the register definitely weren't the friendliest which was a little disappointing. I hope their curtness was due to it being busy. I wasn't necessarily thrilled with the food either. The pizzas tasted good but were super impractical. They were not sliced all the way through and the toppings were the consistency of soup. As soon as we would rip off a slice, all of the toppings would slide right off. The only thing that was left was the dough with some sauce. We had to literally scoop all the toppings up with forks because everything was so soupy and soggy. Their soda machine had really good, crisp soda though! I loved the interior of this restaurant. The decor feels very nostalgic, with the checkboard table clothes and sky-painted ceilings. There is a small bar with TVs and ice cream sold at the entrance. I'd like to give Gianni's another shot!

This is an update/reply to owner on 4/1:…read more I think your reply to me here is making matters worse. You're refusing to take accountability for the fact that you hired an individual who is extremely obnoxious, mouthy, and disrespectful to a customer who is having a problem due to a combination of factors - one being that you closed early on a weekend night, and the other being that a third-party service is failing to do a good job. A third-party service I might add who you have chosen to do business with. As a small business owner myself, as you pointed out, I can assure you, I will never hire a person and allow them to work at my front desk who has the audacity to treat customers as rudely as your employee did. The largest offense here was the behavior of your employee and that is the one thing you have failed to address. There are solutions to the problems you were having - one is as simple as writing a note on your door, letting your customers know that you've chosen to close early that day. Another is refusing to do business with a third-party who is making matters worse rather than better for your business. But the most important thing here is having the care And attention that is required to not hire people capable of being so rude to your customers. Your employee did not make that offer of a pizza until we pointed out that he could have done something better to address the situation rather than giving mouth. But the point here is, we did not want pizza at that time. We wanted the night before when we were in a jam, and by that point, our trust in the food at your store was completely shattered. Because if a person makes a decision to hire someone that is so rude to customers, they may also make the decision to hire a cook who spits in your food. And anyone who fails to understand or address the unacceptable behavior of their employees when it is necessary is indeed a one star establishment. This is an update: A person from Pizza My Way called me a day after I posted my original 1-star review. She was friendly and helpful, and ultimately refunded the $40. I appreciated that. So I brought my review up to 3 stars. However, the situation was seriously unacceptable. Businesses have a responsibility to hire people who are going to treat customers with respect and who are capable of responding to problems created by decisions of the restaurant and their policies. This was a stressful experience and my wife and I walked away feeling very disrespected and initially $40 poorer with no pizza and no solution. The young person working for them has no business treating customers who pay a whopping $40 for a pizza that way- and his behavior being tolerated makes it impossible for me to give the restaurant another chance - so I cannot give an honest review of their food only their service. Maybe if someday I get a call that they have let said employee go they can regain my trust and I'll give them a try because their right up the street, and perhaps I can become a regular customer since I'm so close and they can get a higher rating from me. Originally posted 5/15: Worst pizza experience on the Monterey Peninsula by far. The place just randomly closes on a Saturday night well before their posted closing time. I order for pick up, spend over $40 for one large pizza which is absolutely crazy. I mean other people might think that's normal but I think that's crazy. That doesn't matter. I was in a jam and I had to get my kids some food and was not able to get back home and cook because of an emergency at work. In any case, I pay for the pizza online and then I called to confirm and there's no answer. I call multiple times. I show up to the store in person at around 8:35, 25 minutes before they are supposed to take their last order, and the whole place is dark. The next day, I am assured by the person I speak to on the phone that I will be refunded. Later on that day, I double checked to make sure that's true and it looks like they withdrawn the money from my bank account. So I called back and the person I speak to on the phone refuses to give me their name, they take absolutely no accountability for the situation, and offer absolutely no solution. So I spent $40 on pizza I never received, I was completely unable to get the attention of the manager, and my wife, and I both had to endure rudeness, extreme rudeness from their staff. When I walked in to restate my reasonable request to no avail, the person on staff was recording me on his phone. I don't get it. I'm the customer and I've already spent money and I still haven't received any product from them. It's nothing personal. When you're closing well before you posted hours on a weekend night, when you've got some cockamamie ordering system that you've built into your website, when you can't be accountable to your customers that spend money or even polite, you deserve the bad reputation that follows.

It gets especially crowded when they have live music playing inside (which also gets very loud in the small space). The sfatt have been friendly for the most part. You can literally watch them making the pasta right there in the front window. It's all in the details here. Thank you for the wonderful staff for treating my beautiful niece and I to a wonderful evening. You have made a customers for life. Honestly I'm mad I haven't found this place earlier. I will definitely definitely be back

We were given good advice to spend our money on another pasta dish than on an appetizer, given we were a family of four hungry people. The homemade pasta made such a difference! Each of us had our favorite, though we liked everything. I enjoyed the carbonara, the consistency of the noodles was something I'd never really had, it was marvelous. My younger son selected the cacio e pepe, enjoying the tasty mushroom and sausage dish. The older boy selected the orecchiette, besides a good pasta the chicken had a grilled flavor that stood out. My wife favored the rigatoni, which featured a really good rago sauce. Keeping in mind it's all homemade fare, the price is justified. The portions don't look overwhelmingly huge, yet none of us complained about being hungry when we were done. I definitely will try one of their seafood dishes on our return visit.

Paula, the hostess (and possibly an owner according to all the other reviews here), was dismissive and treated our group with obvious disrespect while warmly interacting with other tables around us. We were the largest group in the restaurant and the only Asian American group. Everyone in our party was Asian except for one white guest, who was the only person Paula spoke happily to and even joked with when he asked where the restroom was. The contrast in how our group was treated was hard to ignore and left us feeling singled out. Our server was nice, but the poor hospitality overshadowed what should have been a special celebration. I left feeling unwelcome and I hope no one else has a similar experience.

We had a reservation and called ahead to ask if we could arrive earlier since we finished at the aquarium sooner than expected. We completely understood if the answer was no, but we were already in the area and if the answer was no, we could've totally kept busy until our actual reservation time, no big deal. The hostess, Paula, responded rudely, saying, "I can't do this right now," before handing the phone to another staff member, who kindly told us it would be fine. When we arrived, Paula simply pointed at our table and said, "There's your table," then looked down and ignored us. I wasn't even sure if we were supposed to seat ourselves until another staff member noticed and kindly escorted us to our table. The restaurant was empty when we arrived as well. At one point, we walked past Paula to get to the restroom and she slightly scoffed, looking at us with contempt. At first, I thought maybe I was overthinking it, however, throughout the evening, we noticed Paula and another staff member enthusiastically greeting and checking on every nearby table except ours. We were the largest party in the restaurant, celebrating a bride-to-be who was even wearing a veil, yet no one acknowledged the occasion. We felt so un-welcomed and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Our server was wonderful, unfortunately, the food was mediocre, nothing special, especially for the price. Overall, the poor hospitality overshadowed the entire experience. I hope management takes the recurring 1- and 2-star reviews seriously and works to improve the atmosphere because this was a very disappointing experience.

This was good but a bit underwhelming as I felt there wasn't enough cheese nor garlic. Mostly bread. We got a small size Half Heirloom Half Heritage deep dish pizza. I love they you can do half flavors here! This deep dish was soooo saucy and cheesy with a light yet crispy crust that was easy to bite through. Each bite had a crazy cheese pull. My favorite was the Heirloom because I enjoyed the veggies in the pizza, but my boyfriend liked the heritage more (tons of meat). Keep in mind that if you don't like tomatoes, this pizza is probably not for you because the tomato sauce is much thicker than a thin crust pizza. We got here at around 7PM on a Saturday. Beware that the deep dish takes a minimum of about 30 minutes to come out. Ours took 40 minutes. I wish the server told us this to warn us, as I overheard this from nearby customers who were complaining about the wait. The place is quite casual with both indoor and outdoor seating. Overall: 4.4/5
