You won't find a better location on the Island, but the food is terrific. This was our last day in Victoria, and we took a nice walk to the B&B. We initially just sat at the cafe for coffee, but when we saw the food coming out, we decided to make a reservation for lunch. This place feels upscale and is nicely decorated. Our lunch was delicious, and we tried the spicy Chicken Sandwich and a seasonal cocktail. The Sandy might have been one of the sandwiches, cooked to perfection and served on, and it was a nice brioche bun. And the view! Wow! What a great way to end our wonderful trip.

it's a modern glass structure overlooking the harbor. some patio seating. It's connected to piers, so bring your boat. Came here at c the recommendation of a local, Hayden, service advisor at the mini cooper recommended this place. Sat in the bar, at a high top. Had a delightful experience with Mia serving drinks and food. The food was quite tasty, and Mia was engaging. This is my new favorite place in Victoria.

Overall good experience, the service and staff were top notch and very friendly! We sat on the patio and watching the sunset over the marina was beautiful. Very quiet and peaceful. The food was very good, and the mocktails were great as well. My only negative is really the value, I just think overall the pricing is a little high for what you get. I'd revisit under certain circumstances but would likely go elsewhere in Victoria at the same price point.

We came on a Friday for happy hour. We ordered the mai Tai and it was okay. A little too sweet and didn't have enough pineapple in it. The smoky pepperoni pizza and Margherita pizza were disappointing. The pizza wasn't chewy enough and not crispy enough on the outside. The pepperoni had lots of pepperoni on it. Wouldn't order these again The prawn + pesto pizette was much better. It felt like the dough was almost fried. The flavour was much better The tuna tataki was disappointing. The tuna didn't taste like much but I did like the alfalfa sprouts The burger was really disappointing. The beef patty was dry. The bread was boring and the condiments were a bit lacking. The dessert Mystic forest was the highlight of happy hour. There wasn't enough matcha flavour but I liked the blueberry mousse with the blueberry confit. The chocolate crumb added that saltiness to it. Overall the service and ambiance was great. It reminded me of a cactus club or milestones but with a great view. The food was pretty boring but the view makes up for it. The dessert was pretty good though. Tip; I saw a lot of people order the meatballs. Maybe try that or the fried chicken or the fries from the happy hour menu instead of the items I got (oh but do get the prawn + pesto pizette)

Stopped by mid week for Happy Hour. Boom + Batten sits on piers over the water with amazing views across the inner harbour. The interior is very modern with plenty of natural light...loved the room and the ambiance. The Happy Hour menu has plenty of options for food and drink. I opted for a glass of the Mission Hill Cab/Merlot, the tuna tataki and the prawn/pesto pizza. The presentation of the tataki and pizza were both great as was the taste. But there were only 3 very small pieces of tuna on the tataki plate and the pizza was quite small given the price. There was no issue with the service and it was a positive food experience.

Went for lunch on a work trip! Views of the water were awesome! Ordered a mimosa and a prosciutto and arugula pizza! Wow! Delicious the crust was cooked to perfection! Server was very attentive and gave good recommendations for other night time places since i was visiting! Very kind. Pricing was in line with others but with a more luxury/ lax feel!

Nestled by the majestic ocean, Boom+Batten restaurant is a true gem that combines breathtaking views with a delightful culinary experience. The first thing that captures your attention is the stunning panorama of the ocean that stretches out before you. But it's not just the captivating ambiance that makes this restaurant special; the food is equally impressive. From the fresh seafood delicacies to the expertly grilled meats and vibrant vegetarian options, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We ordered the Margherita Pizza, broccolini and the spicy frites with togarashi mayo. They were all phenomenal. The shaft was the best I've ever had. Moreover, the service is exceptional, with a friendly and attentive staff that ensures your dining experience is nothing short of perfection. They are knowledgeable about the menu, offering recommendations and catering to any dietary requirements or preferences. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a romantic evening, or simply looking to indulge your senses, this restaurant offers an experience that is sure to create cherished memories. So, treat yourself to a visit and savor the exquisite flavors while surrounded by the beauty of the ocean--it's an experience that will leave you wanting to return time and time again.

low quality beef with a ridiculous amount of French fries.

We were disappointed in this place. We chose it for my birthday celebration (which was not even acknowledged) while we were in Victoria for the weekend. The ambience is very nice. The food was not good. I ordered my steak rare. It was served to me well done on a massive plate of French fries. As I cut into it, the fries spilled off the plate because it was a ridiculously heaping portion. My fiancé ordered the salmon which was overcooked and dry and ate alone as I waited for my new steak. It still came back around medium. At this point I had lost my appetite. The quality of the beef was extremely cheap. We also started with the tuna tartare which was disgusting. You couldn't see or taste any fish because it was all aioli. It was not edible. Our waitress could care less that we didn't care for our food. We spent quite a bit of money here too as we also ordered champagne and a bottle of red wine. It would have been nice to have my entry comped for the inconvenience of having to eat separately or at least a complimentary dessert but absolutely nothing was done. We quite enjoyed Finn's and Little Jumbo this weekend and would suggest you try these establishments . I would not return to Boom & Batten

We took a chance on coming here without a reservation for an early lunch, and we got the loveliest table by the window, overlooking the harbor. Fabulous location, and the interior of the restaurant is stunningly beautiful. It is laidback but also sumptuous. (Also, THE most beautiful and clean bathrooms). Our server, Johanna, was just the sweetest and made excellent recommendations for eats and drinks. The experience was so chill and beautiful. We would have happily stayed all day if we hadn't had stuff to do.

The elk carpaccio ($17) is a lighter choice with paper thin slices of lean meat (don't worry, it's not gamey) that's topped with black garlic aioli, puffed rice, and what seems like a lot of mustard seed but works. Eat the carpaccio on its own or on top of the lavash crackers, both create a great snack. The meatballs ($16) and spicy clams ($16) both incorporated a lovely sauce that had us reaching for the grilled sourdough to sop up. While the pork and beef meatballs were large, they broke apart easily and were wonderfully tender and delicate. I thoroughly enjoyed the smoked tomato butter and romesco sauce that covered the spicy clams but found that they could up the chili peppers as its heat just began to tickle the tongue. It wouldn't be a B.C. resto bar without pizza; Boom & Batten showcases their pizza oven prominently at the front of the restaurant where we watched the chef prepare pie after pie as we waited for our reserved table. The show enticed me to try the prosciutto pizza ($23), which oddly uses a cream sauce as its base yet, when combined with roasted pear and truffle honey creates a sweet and sticky element against the cured ham and peppery arugula. This pizza is made for sharing as it's also fairly heavy. Of course, trendy restaurants also need to feature local ingredients and the wild sockeye salmon ($36) was a good dish. While the fish appeared to be overdone upon arrival, it was nonetheless moist and flaky. The dish could have done without the rye crisps as it already included blocks of crispy potatoes that could rival McDonald's hash browns any day. Instead, it would have been nice if the main had another vegetable, other than just roasted beets, to balance out the meal better. This is a long review, visit Gastroworld for the rest.

Service is top notch Food is very good Location is right on the water and the faculties are well kept. Prices are on the high side but not unreasonable. Overall really great except for the relatively higher prices but in line with the overall ambiance.

I've been to Boom many times and today it was for my birthday! I enjoy going there for special occasions and also for morning coffee - it always seems special and the views of the inner harbour are amazing. Our server was lovely and didn't push us to finish quickly - we had a lot to talk about! We each had a glass of the Mission Hill Chardonnay - very ripe red apple with lime zest. My sister and I each opted for a different salad with prawns which were grilled beautifully - super fresh. The salads were also fresh and not over dressed. If there's anything to criticize about Boom, the prices have really skyrocketed over the past couple of years. This is not completely their fault, but it is a little much to spend $32 on Mussels and a piece of toast - especially when ordering Mussels is always a crap shoot anyhow. The wine list is one of the better ones in the city, but it's crazy pricey too. I didn't have a cocktail, but they make some wonderful ones with local spirits in particular. So do consider that list. Also, consider going during happy hour - the deals are quite good and it will bring down your bill. Overall, nice ambiance and the food was great. We enjoyed ourselves. It was $100 plus tip though so be prepared to be separated from your wallet (2 salads with prawns and 2 glasses of the cheapest wine).

Love the European Wine Bar/French Bistro vibes they have going and it's located in the cute Fernwood neighbourhood. Love their approach on French-inspired foods and showcasing seasonal local fresh veggies and plating it differently. The food is fresh and light, which is always nice for a French restaurant. We got the local crudités served with the eggplant roasted dip and it was a delight. The tomatoes were fresh and I appreciated the various textures, depth and flavours. The dishes are great for sharing. Love the pomme frites. The BBQ shishitos were a treat! The bread and butter were phenomenal. I believe that it is freshly baked. The service was amazing! They have a great ever-changing wine list from Europe as well as different parts of Canada. In addition, they have amazing cocktails. Unfortunately, Stage fell a little short for us. We had sent an email in advance mentioning that we are pescatarians and do not eat meat. We were very excited to try their fish offerings (Halibut and Rockfish) off the menu that night but our waitress informed us that the kitchen wouldn't be able to make any changes to the dishes and that some meat products were used in both fish options. We were very disappointed, especially since the food is so good. I recommend and advise that if you have two fish offerings, at least leave one completely pescatarian and free of meat products. We also didn't want to opt for the warm potato salad with mackerel since we had already had the pomme frites. As a result, we did not have a suitable protein option that night. This was the only thing that ticked us off, considering the level of care and pride they take with the food in their restaurant.

Really nice wine bar. Great wine and atmosphere. A bit pricy but very nice wine selection.read more
