Decided to give this place a try during our first trip to Victoria and we weren't disappointed! Great service, amazing staff and the food was delicious!

Sushi was very good, one of the best places I've tried in Victoria! The Japa roll and the Eeelinois were our favourites! Service was a little bit slow but they were friendly. Restaurant is nice and clean inside as well! Definitely give it a try!

Nubo Japanese Tapas (Douglas & Blanshard Location) 739 Pandora Avenue, Victoria,BC we had a short trip in Victoria and my cousin sent me a message asking us to try Japanese Tapas restaurant and the name is called Nubo Japanese Tapas. As a matter of curiosity, we would like to know what is the Tapas in a Japanese offered? It ended up having a good meal although it was raining so heavy, we still went there! Tapas is similar to Izakaya are the go-to choice for after-work dinner parties. Similar to an Irish pub or a tapas bar, they are informal, inexpensive and a lot of fun. The typical izakaya serves ice-cold beer and a variety of other spirits and soft drinks. They do have a good pub and they are just serving a typical Japanese restaurant does. That's ok as long as the food is fresh and delicious. I don't need to know what is exactly the Tapas in a Japanese restaurant. I can see a lot of customers who come in to the restaurant on their own , I can find only one table which looks like they are talking about business! Due to the rain was so heavy , we decided to leave earlier to prepare the check out by tomorrow morning

So disappointing... ordered this vegan sushi roll with fried yam on top to go. It looked totally unappetizing and tasted weird. They also put this green smashed avocado topping on top which I think is a big mistake for to-go. It turns brown and they should've put it in a to-go sauce container on the side. It was a huge disappointment. Can't review on the other stuff but I actually wish I got my money back. If the owner sees this review, I'm willing to do another review and delete this one if I get a refund. Such a disappointment because their lunch special is actually amazing. But def not this. It was a hit and miss. For $13 this should be scrapped from the menu for sure.

amazing service and food all around!!! we finished all our sushi rolls and ordered another set and finished that sushi set too!! that's how good the sushi rolls were!! my favs were the lucky strike and oppor tuna ty rolls!! a notable mention is the victoria's secret roll which was a interesting taste with the pesto sauce incorporated with the tuna we love our server too!! she was so sweet and accommodating!! making sure we have everything we need!!

Understated excellence! We visited from the U.S., wanted a nice light meal, and walked from Hotel Rialto. I can't say enough about the quality and freshness of the Sushi. We tried a flaming role (yes, they fired it on the table side) and miso soup. I know this sounds boring, but when you've been eating rich food, this is just what we need. The staff was outstanding, and the meal was one of our favorites. Try the house hot tea because this is the first time we've had something like it.

Everything here was so incredible! The staff and chefs are all so friendly and helpful! All the dishes tasted amazing & so fresh. All the sushi rolls were some of the best I've ever had. The curry udon was probably the best curry udon I've ever eaten. The drinks were so pretty and yummy. I absolutely loved it here and cannot wait to visit whenever I'm in Victoria again :)

First time in Victoria and this was our first place for dinner, it was delicious! It's a smaller spot but very cozy and good vibes overall. The servers were really nice and efficient. We got the takoyaki to start which was delicious. I got the sukiyaki nabe (beef udon) and the broth was so well flavored and the noodles were perfect. My partner got the lucky strike roll, he said it was the best sushi he's ever had outside of NYC. Would definitely recommend this spot! Happy we came

So yummy and unique! My dad of all people found this spot for a late weekend dinner. He was very motivated (hungry) while we walked all around the touristy areas by the waterfront. I don't usually count on my pops to find restaurants for us, but in the case of this one, it was a win! We ordered several items to share and each was more delectable than the previous item. Of course I had to order the monkey brains. No question! Service was good and the food was prepared quickly. Everything was plated nicely and we had a great meal. I will definitely return on my next visit. Parking after 8pm on the weekend was easy - though it is confusing on the map where it shows 3 Nubo restaurants.

We only had 24 hours in Victoria and this place came highly recommended by a friend who was there the month prior. We love Japanese food so that was all we needed to give it a shot. Hands down the best meal of our trip. Unique and interesting menu items. Everything was prepared to perfection and full of amazing flavor. Staff was kind, attentive and knowledgeable. Wish we could have gone back a second time!

Based on other yelp reviews we tried this great sushi place. A bit of a hike from the ferry stop but well worth it. We had 3 lunch specials. Amazing sashimi very fresh and generous cuts. My husband had the most incredible seafood udon. He kept pulling out more and more goodies. We arrived at 11:30 when they opened ,and were able to secure the only table not reserved for lunch. Great prompt service. Would go again for sure!

Love the wide variety of options! Including vegan mayo. The service was great. We went around 2pm so we were the only ones. My fav was the body & soul roll. There was 20% gratuity for 5+ ppl.

    Sashimi and sushi TEISHOKU

We found this listing on yelp and we weren't disappointed. We got the TEISHOKU, which is the lunch special. I had mine with karaage don, fried chicken karaage with Japanese butter mayo on rice and my husband had his with sashimi and sushi. Great variety in the meal and the service was wonderful.

The vibe in the restaurant was nice. Felt like we were teleported away for a few hours. Everyone was chatting away eating. It was an open space, but not hard to have a conversation. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. She made great recommendations on wine and food. We ended up taking advantage of their special shared tapas menu for two at $59.50 CAD. I ordered some wine by the glass to go with some of the dishes. We didn't have any preference in the order, so our waitress brought things out as we finished. The spread included bacon wrapped stuffed dates, chorizo puffs, salad, veggies, croquettas, patatas bravas, prawns, beef short ribs, and a chocolate mousse-like dessert. Everything was so tasty! It starts off so well with the bacon wrapped stuff dates and you think there will be a dip in taste at some point. I believe the only dish we didn't finish were the veggies, done ratatouille style, we were pretty full so we chose not to finish this one and make sure we could eat dessert. She did figure out I was american when I tried to give her my credit card. I always forget they bring those credit card devices to your table outside the US. I would definitely go back to try some of the other menu options.

There was an interesting smell at the entrance when we first walked in, but luckily we were seated in the back room. As recommended, we ordered family style to try a variety of dishes. Endive salad - can't really go wrong with the classic combination of apple walnut and goat cheese, however many larger pieces of endive were quite bitter. tater tots - nice presentation with the cubes. The tots were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Paired well with the jalapeño ranch, and the lumpfish caviar was a fun addition. Beef tartare- the beef was fresh and flavor was good overall. However the toast was only cut in half, made it hard to eat or cut into. Middle of the toast also got a little too soft from the juice. Fried chicken - solid fried chicken, the meat is tender and well seasoned, crispy on the outside. The semolina cube didn't add much for me, but the 3 hot sauce added a nice balance of heat and acidity. Ling cod - The fish was tender and cooked well. Surprisingly, the cabbage really stood out. Service was a bit slow, we had to flag down our server for refills. Overall we enjoyed our meal, every dish was well prepared, but nothing truly stood out as memorable. We did appreciate it being farm-to-table, and the commitment to source ingredients locally.

We made a reservation ahead of time and they were still quite busy until about 9:45pm. We ordered a variety of dishes family style, which is the right move. Service for our table was honestly a bit slow; we had to flag down someone for a refill multiple times. The interior smelled a bit funny near the entrance but luckily we got sat down into the back room. The interior was a very dark, date night vibe. Endive 3/5. Not the biggest fan of the salad; they also picked some larger leaves of endive which made it bitter. It was a very light dish with the goat cheese, walnut, and apple. Tater tots 4/5. Fried potato hash brown cubes paired with a ranch sauce with lumpfish caviar. Decent dish, we enjoyed it but it could've used some acidity. Beef tartare 3.5/5. Solid tartare but the bread needed to be cut into more bite sized pieces and this style of bread also ended up soaking up a lot of the raw meat juices. Ling cod 4.5/5. The fish was tender and cooked well. The best item on this dish was the cabbage, which was very well seasoned. Fried chicken 4/5. Solid fried chicken paired with semolina cubes. Overall we enjoyed the meal. Not every dish was a hit but the farm to table concept is much appreciated for being in Victoria BC and sourcing meats and produce from nearby or in Abbotsford.

Love the European Wine Bar/French Bistro vibes they have going and it's located in the cute Fernwood neighbourhood. Love their approach on French-inspired foods and showcasing seasonal local fresh veggies and plating it differently. The food is fresh and light, which is always nice for a French restaurant. We got the local crudités served with the eggplant roasted dip and it was a delight. The tomatoes were fresh and I appreciated the various textures, depth and flavours. The dishes are great for sharing. Love the pomme frites. The BBQ shishitos were a treat! The bread and butter were phenomenal. I believe that it is freshly baked. The service was amazing! They have a great ever-changing wine list from Europe as well as different parts of Canada. In addition, they have amazing cocktails. Unfortunately, Stage fell a little short for us. We had sent an email in advance mentioning that we are pescatarians and do not eat meat. We were very excited to try their fish offerings (Halibut and Rockfish) off the menu that night but our waitress informed us that the kitchen wouldn't be able to make any changes to the dishes and that some meat products were used in both fish options. We were very disappointed, especially since the food is so good. I recommend and advise that if you have two fish offerings, at least leave one completely pescatarian and free of meat products. We also didn't want to opt for the warm potato salad with mackerel since we had already had the pomme frites. As a result, we did not have a suitable protein option that night. This was the only thing that ticked us off, considering the level of care and pride they take with the food in their restaurant.

We stopped here from brunch after walking the WestBay walkway on Canada Day. We got a seat easy on the patio and had a great view of all the fancy yachts and harbour traffic. Our waitress was lovely and complimented us on our Canadian inspired outfits. We ordered two cesars - non alcoholic and gin. The garnish 2 olives and 2 beans were awesome but my Cesar lacked ice which you can't skimp on, you want that clam juice cold! Their Cesar also is on the sweeter side almost like a ketchup flavour whereas I like a spicy savoury Cesar leaning heavier on horseradish. For brunch we had the smoked salmon mousse bagel with fresh greens and the beet and ricotta Benny with hashbrowns. Both dishes were excellent and beautifully presented. The salmon mousse was rich and decadent - not sure I could have had both sides as it was quite rich but my husband and I were sharing dishes so it worked well! The beet and ricotta benny was really nice - light and creamy. The only thing lacking was seasoning to the hashbrown patties - they look better than they taste. I ordered it for my son as a safe option and yes, he liked it very much. 2. Chicken Liver Parfait - very good! Must try!! To be honest, I am not a fan of chicken liver in general. I have had it a few times in other places and have never been able to go beyond the first bite but my spouse really likes it. We checked with our server before ordering this and she was very encouraging to give it is a go and I am so glad we did!
