When I called their number the message suggested texting (which is my preferred method of communication). They responded within 15 minutes. They we're available as soon as late that afternoon but I scheduled for the next day. My 65 lb Chihuahua mix mutt is nervous in unfamiliar situations.(Yep, I said a 65 lb Chihuahua, it's the most she has of anything in her DNA test at 25%). Al was confident, gentle and caring as he lifted her into the trailer. She came back to me a little high strung but Al was calm and unphased by her energy. That's what I look for in a groomer. I just got off a text chain with this groomer which was to confirm an upcoming first appointment for our two fur babies. We waited two or three weeks for this appointment. We have a special circumstance. My husband is on immune suppression drugs to avoid organ rejection from his transplant. He is in the most vulnerable category for Covid 19 and likely would not survive an infection. This is compounded by his age and other medical conditions. As a result, we have to remain in isolation. In three months it will be two years since we have left our home. We have everything delivered, still sanitize grocery packaging, and per medical team ensure that anyone providing needed services to us is masked and gloved (we can provide these) and is vaccinated to lower risk of contact infection. All of these measures are our only way to protect ourselves and to stay alive and well. We do not judge or impose PPE or being vaccinated on others outside our home. We stay home to do our part to keep ourselves safe without imposing on those in the world around us. The one and only exception to this is regarding those who provide services to us on our property who we pre-screen as best we can. I explained all this to the groomer (who ever does the text scheduling). He or she said they would be masked but "don't use gloves" (even though we can provide). Ok, I rolled with that. But as they will have their hands all over our dogs, their crate, etc. with the Delta variant surge in Maricopa County and virus shedding which is very real we cannot be lax with my husband's safety. The risk ls to him are greatly reduced in those who have been vaccinated. I therefore asked if whoever would be coming and handling our dogs is vaccinated. I was not being nosy and this was not a question to determine if the person can enter a bar or restaurant. This was a question for protecting him as best we can on our own property--not about judging or politicizing anyone's choice. It is the ONLY option we have to protect my husband. The one word answer was "HIPPA" which of course only relates to employers and employees. The groomer then said "We are pro-vacs here" but it concerned me that a straightforward answer was not being given. I could make an assumption from that statement but it was a generalization so i said if he or she was not comfortable answering the question in a straightforward manner, we would need to cancel because of the uncertainty. The answer was "Best wishes." (Meaning go ahead and cancel). I was stunned. This is the first business or person in the 21 months we have been in isolation who did not show compassion for accommodating our special needs. I know it is inconvenient but for us it could be the difference for my husband between staying alive or not. I am glad this happened now because I would not trust my precious dogs to someone so lacking in compassion. Very sad. read more

I give Boom Chicka Groom Groom 0 out of 5 stars in following through on their commitments. They donated four grooming appointments (stated at a $350 value!) to a wonderful local charity. This is great. I will post the gift certificate to the Yelp photos. You can see there are no location restrictions. I reached out to schedule an appointment for multiple dogs and was denied service in my area (East Phoenix) because Boom Chicka Groom Groom says they are "east valley only. Chandler/Gilbert S." Maybe this is what happened to so many of the other people that posted bad reviews here. I understand why a mobile business would set location restrictions but if a business donates a gift certificate to be auctioned off at charity, the business people know someone is going to pay money for the gift certificate with an expectation that the gift certificate is good for the services stated on the certificate. The certificate is very basic but calls out a couple specific conditions. Nothing about location. The text is below. For me, this is a matter of principle. This one is on Boom Chicka Groom Groom. They should honor the gift certificate they created. If they do, I will happily remove this review. Will they do the right thing? Time will tell. Angela and Alfonso were so great! They took both of our dogs to be groomed at the same time and they were so wonderful with getting the dogs to warm up to them. They are very friendly and professional and they were so complimentary of both of the dogs. The dogs came back looking so cute. They washed them, cut their hair and nails and dried and brushed them. Boom chicka groom groom did an amazing job on my Pomeranian. They cut his hair exactly how we asked and it turned out so very cute! From appointment setting, to the actual grooming session, they were very professional and warm. It was also super convenient to have them pull right up to the house for the appointment. The minute I opened the door my Pom was jumping into their arms because they were so friendly and caring towards him and us. I honestly couldn't ask for a better grooming experience. They groomed our dogs for a year or so, about every 4-5 weeks. After two same day cancellations, the last being 30 minutes before they were scheduled to arrive, they just stopped returning my messages. I know I am not the only one this has happened to. Started off great until a year into grooming. I guess once you're established, they don't care as much. No replies and miscommunication on appointment dates and times. A few times she barely even got groomed bc of a conversation we had had about intermittent grooming (bc she gets matted easily) and rarely gets her nails clipped. Angie came today to do my Shoodle (Shitzu / Toy Poodle). I didn't know what I wanted just needed her ears taken up for sure. My pup is only a year old and has only been to Pet smart and petco and I've never loved how they cut her hair because they've made her always look hunchback and I thought it was because maybe she was hunchback, lol! Well I expected her back to look funny again but her back looks straight, she is bright white and smells fantastic. She's actually SUPER duper happy after her grooming session which is funny! She's running around like crazy playing and loves us calling her a pretty girl :) I love that they come to us and charge about the same as the big store chains and they don't keep her all day. It's about an hour and they really listen and genuinely ask what you want and what you like. I have had them groom my babies twice now and I could not be happier. Not only are they super responsive and make it easy to schedule with them, they treat my boys like princes. My dogs are my babies, but I also know they are a bit neurotic.
