Very thrilled with Wag Dog Salon! Have taken my sweet boy here twice now! We love Darren, he does a fantastic job with our dog. He is very personable and takes great pride in his work. Although both appointments have been on Saturdays and normally from appointment time to pick up varies anywhere from 3-5hours of our dog being there, we still would recommend this place. I had already had serious issues with two other salons, so I was hesitant, but it took one appointment with Bella to sell me and I've gone back to her every month ever since. Bella listens to what I'm wanting for my fur baby, scheduling is ridiculously easy, the staff is always kind and most importantly right now; they are doing everything possible to keep their customers and groomers SAFE. Brought our big guy there and when we brought him home he refused to open his eyes. We called and all they suggested was a saline wash and asked us to send photos which they never responded to. It's the next day and his Eyes were completely glued shut with gunk this morning and is still refusing to open them, when we wash them out they are both completely blood shot; they either cut his eyes or got just ridiculous amount of hair in them that we can't efficiently clear out. Today was a tough day in my house- one of the hottest days of the year, excessive heat warning- and my ac went out. My first concern was getting my pup away from the heat. In my desperation to find her a safe spot I contacted this salon where she has been groomed before and let them know what was going on. I asked if they could squeeze her in for a bath today so she could be in a cool place for a few hours while I sorted things out. They not only did her groom but they gave her a safe space and let her hang out with them until I found us a place to wait out our ac fix. I am very upset by my experience here. 1. The way the groomer approached my dog was fast and not gentle, it put me and my dog on edge and I was very reluctant to let it continue but I did. 2. While I was waiting I heard a groomer scolding a dog firmly, and a dog crying. I don't know if it was my baby but I really hope not 3. When the groomer was bringing my baby out I was looking down the hall already because of the unsettling things I was hearing. She was yanking his leash and wasn't paying attention to him hit his head on the wall. My dog had a ton of anxiety after leaving that place. I should have followed my gut feeling and left :( Side note which I think is important: They advertise as "green" but they use heavily scented fragrance in the building that smells awful and triggered a headache for me. Our girl has been groomed at home since day one so she's well behaved as we've raised her that way. Only concern was all the dogs having to WAIT (even though we had a strict time reservation) being caged next to eachother. But it all turned out well!! The owners were truly amazing. You can tell they really love what they do. I've seen some not so great reviews but it's like if you drop a naughty kid off at the babysitter, cant expect them to behave perfectly. I do not recommend this place. We took our 2 puppies in for an appointment at 11 and it took them 6 hours to do a terrible job. One of our schnauzers now looks like a Chihuahua (they cut her hair so short in the face). We have been using them since they opening and never had an issue, til this last visit. They did something to my dog and he is in oak. And not right. Not able to get an appt with vet til 10/7. He's in pain and traumatized. They blamed it on matted hair and hematomas. He's bleeding from her ear. Update- it's been over a week since his grooming appt and $700 and 3 vet visit later, he isn't back to normal. We have daily vet appt to help apply medication, til Saturday. Totally unacceptable. Won't be back. Took 5 1/2 hours to get my dog back after being told 3-4 hours (sometime between 4:00pm and 5:00pm). They were short staffed a washer and I understand that, but that was known and factored into the original 3-4 hours. My issue isn't with the wash or cut but absolutely terrible business and customer management. After 3 hours, I called and was told it would be more like 5:30 vs. initial 4:00 to 5:00. Then I called around 5:40 and was told it would be more like 6:00. Then I called a little after 6:00 and was told ready in a few minutes. Finally ready about 6:30. Notice that it was ME calling to get significant delay updates. Then when I picked up was told "Thanks for the understanding, sorry" and checkout machine shoved in front of me. Ummmm...there was no understanding on my my part. I was extremely disgruntled. You failed at managing customer expectations and communicating changing expectations to your customer. And where was any attempt to salvage customer experience (maybe a discount)????? I gave 2 stars and a 20% tip because wash was good and haircut was OK, otherwise would have given 1 star. read more

Jessica & Chris take such good care of our doodle! I highly recommend them for any dogs but they are fantastic with doodles!!

I brought my goldendoodle in earlier today and she literally came home without any fur at all. The groomer was very friendly initially and told me she would have to go shorter because the fur was pretty matted but I had no idea my dog would only have her skin left. Normally short means at least a quarter of an inch. She also came home with a cut on her paw and with both ears bleeding they cut big chunks on both of her ears. When I picked her up the groomer said there was a red spot on her paw and maybe she was bit by an insect but when I got home and I looked at it closely I realized it was definitely another cut. They cut her whiskers completely so I called the Vet and she said a groomer should never cut the whiskers unless recommended by a Vet and that's why Maddy has been disoriented and bumping into the walls and furniture. I was told by Jessica at the wag salon that they cut every dos's whiskers so I sent her some information on it and hopefully they will stop doing that to dogs. This is truly the worst experience I have ever had with a groomer. My 5 year old cried and said I had brought the wrong dog back home. I even left a $12 tip because I paid before seeing Maddy. There is no way I would have left a dollar if saw what they did to my dog. I am so disappointed since I had only read great reviews. I look at the before and after photos of Maddy and I can't believe what they did to her. I would definitely want a full refund, especially the tip portion but Jessica told me too bad but no refunds so I am disputing the charges with my bank :-( read more

I first tried The Wag about 1.5 years ago ??? I think, soon after they first opened. i used to take my pups to Prestige Pet Salon in Chandler. prestige was awesome and I had been a client of theirs for 10+ years, but they were a ways from me. so when I saw The Wag, which is just a few blocks from me, I decided to give them a chance since it would be more convenient for me and less car time for the pups. First, I loved that you could make your appointments online, but I guess they have done away with that. I get my pups groomed on the regular, so I always make my next appointment ahead when picking the babies up. We have mainly used Jessica, but there have been others as well. Jessica is so good at grooming and just a joy to deal with. everybody else is super nice and friendly there as well. my pups are Pekingese. I prefer them to look natural, but I do have their tummies, feet, and sanitary areas trimmed, as well as rounding their butts a little. The Wag does a beautiful job! My pups look and smell lovely after their salon visit. Also, my pups are downright excited to be there and clamber to get through the door to the back of the salon where all the magic happens. I am over the moon thrilled right now. I've been trying to trim my dogs nails for 8 months straight...and I took him to the Wag Dog Salon after his nails got too long for him to walk. I was in and out in five minutes and his nails are perfect. I would've paid $100 for this experience (I've spent well over that trying to find the "perfect" nail trimming device), and it only cost me $15. I had our girls bathed and groomed once before at Wag and had a very positive experience. They were great at handling our dogs and the quality of work was good. However, I had an experience today related to a missed / late appointment where I was not treated respectfully. When I found out my husband was 20 min late for one of the two appts. and would it have to be cancelled or could he still come. I also apologized that he was late. Instead of receiving a simple response that this would not be possible I got an extensive response back about how this would affect the business, that included the time of our appt (10 am), the late policy of 15 mins and the time it was now (10:21). I did not appreciate being treated as though I was so unintelligent I needed to be told the current time when all I did was ask to confirm for sure that he couldn't come and that the appts would need to be cancelled. I understand how frustrating it is when a client is late and I did apologize on his behalf. However things do happen and it is not necessary or helpful to treat someone as if they are stupid in response to this. We will go elsewhere from now on but I hope communication for clients could improve based on this feedback so others aren't treated that way because this is a great place otherwise! read more
