Attention/ Make sure you go to THIS ONE - NOT the one on Constitution. This one on Porter is good. They have always been great. The following was our experience at the other one on Constitution and since they are not listed on Yelp for me to review, here is what I sent to corporate: Manager / Owner RE:  Our "attempt at dining" experience tonight What a disaster of an idea to go to your establishment tonight for a burger. We waited forever for someone to notice us after we sat down. Finally a young man came over. We said we were ready to order but he said he was only going to get our drinks. We ordered water in to-go cups and it's a good thing we got them to-go. It was busy so we patiently waited... and waited... and waited.  After about 39 minutes or so a young lady rushed over, apologized, took our order and rushed off to the kitchen. We thought, "Good. Finally!"  I mean, how long does it take to grill a burger, right? Well, we sat there another 30 minutes or more as we watched people come in, be served, pay and leave. Finally, the first young man comes back and informs us that the girl LOST OUR ORDER! How the heck does that even happen? She went  directly to the kitchen when she took it. So he tells us he can resubmit our order and discount our food. We were considering doing that until my husband asked if our food order would take priority and be rushed. He said no, that it would go to the BACK OF THE LINE. Really! He said that.  So we chose to leave (and eat no dinner). When I got home I waited until near closing time, called and asked for the manager (who I figured would be there to pick up the money and close). A young man said he would take a note for him because he was "busy."  So I relayed our experience and guess what? He said that was their company policy or their normal practice to put us at the back of the line. He said all businesses do that.  I'm shocked at the response and lack of customer concern.  Wild way to run a business.  I do know the other Boomarang has never treated us that way in all the years (since 1985) that we have eaten there). read more

The Boomarang Diner is pretty close to us so it's a convenient place to go. Everyone here has always been very friendly. The music is great playing early rock and roll from the 50's and 60's and not to loud, so still great place for conversation. The food is like most diners and serving breakfast all day. I always get a burger, fries (or onion rings) with a frosted root beer (served in a frosted mug just like A & W). I have had the JJ burger and the Duke. Both are really good. This diner has not been here that long but it's a great addition to Norman's restaurants. We will definitely continue to come back and do recommend Boomerangs. read more

Well let me tell you, not all Boomarangs are created equally. We usually order from and eat at the location on Constitution right by our house. I ordered from the Porter location because I was taking food to a family member in the hospital. I ordered a bowl of chili and a kids meal of pancake, bacon and scrambled egg. NO SYRUP (uhhhh, who eats pancakes without syrup? Especially a child?!) and no crackers for the chili. Luckily I pulled over in their parking lot and saw there was no syrup, but I didn't see the missing crackers. Also, what kind of an egg is that?? Pretty gross. Pancake is over cooked also. We've eaten here a couple of times and both times the food was very good! Last night we decided to try delivery with door dash and it was super fast and everything we ordered was exact! The fried pickles, fried mushrooms and tots were all still super crispy and hot. I HIGHLY recommend the fried mushrooms, so delicious!! Ok, I finally found a good rueben in Norman and was not expecting it from this place! It is DELICIOUS! The sauerkraut wasn't overpowering and just all in all tasty. They serve breakfast all day which is a huge plus for me. The biscuits and gravy were great. If you have a hangover, the burgers are A GO TO. I got the spicy one with grilled jalapenos and it was so good. We tried the fried mushrooms and they were great too. Not too breaded, and their homemade ranch is really good, I know how Oklahomans go crazy for ranch so this is your place. Basically, I'm a fan. I brought my kids and grandkids here last night before a softball game. The place gave me American Graffiti type vibes. My grandkids loved the decor and the staff was very friendly. My wife and daughter ordered the all-you-can-eat catfish, the grandkids ordered pancakes and sausage, and I got the chicken tender dinner. Everything looked and tasted good and the portions were rightly sized. We enjoyed our dinner and decided we would return for breakfast today. We sat at the counter and enjoyed our breakfast while interacting with the staff. This place is definitely worth a visit. The food is good and very inexpensive. We will return. read more

Had breakfast at Boom-a-rang Diner on a Friday at around 8:15. There were about 4 tables seated, and 4 more came in while I was eating. So, they certainly weren't crowded, but were doing a good business. I was approached immediately for my drink order. The server was very friendly, but while I was eating, my drink remained empty for more than a few minutes. Finally, only when I was nearly ready to leave, did I get offered a refill. So, while she was friendly, that was annoying to go that long with no drink. The breakfast menu is sparse: there are a few omelets, your traditional breakfasts, sides, and pancakes. I asked if I could get a chicken fried steak for breakfast, as I've heard good things. Turns out you can, even though it's not on the menu. For $9.99 you get a chicken fried steak, hash browns, 2 eggs, and your choice of toast or biscuit with gravy. Be advised if you select sausage gravy (as I did) you will be upcharged. The meal came out after less than 10 minutes, which is impressive because I could tell the steak was made fresh. It was easily the star of the meal, the gravy was put on the bottom, which allowed the top to stay nice and crunchy. It's a large steak, and fork tender in most spots. It's clearly handmade, this is not a frozen steak that was dropped in a deep fryer. The breading is nice and crisp but could use more seasoning. Also, didn't adhere well to the meat. This is the best chicken fried steak I've had in Norman, but it doesn't touch the steaks at Kendall's in Noble or Cheever's in OKC. That said, I would order it again, it's a 4 star chicken fried steak. The eggs were terrible, easily the worst part of the meal. I have no idea how they prepared them, I'm actually curious. But, they didn't look like scrambled eggs, and certainly didn't taste like them. The hash browns were typical, no seasoning, just smashed on the griddle. I always ask for them extra crispy, and these had some crispy, but nowhere near "extra" in my estimation. The gravy was underseasoned but a nice consistency. However, it appears as though they just spoon some sausage into the already prepared gravy, rather than actually make sausage gravy. This results in a ring of grease which got bigger throughout the meal around the edge of the bowl of gravy. It wasn't appealing. I would think if you're not actually going to make the gravy with sausage properly, you wouldn't want it on the menu. I would get biscuits and gravy again, but not the "sausage gravy." Overall, Boom-a-Rang eeks out 3 stars, but barely. For the good (the steak) there was a lot of areas that need work. That being said, I'd eat here again, and I will try it for lunch or dinner so I can get a burger. read more

Came with my awesome hubby and had the Elvins breakfast and coffee. They give you 3 any style eggs, 3 bacon, 2 sausage, hashbrowns and your choice of toast or biscuit and gravy. A little bigger than the big breakfast. It was all really good and came out very fast especially with how busy it was in there. The waitress was attentive and friendly. Let me say the food we had from Boomarang was very good. Great chicken tenders, fries, good (not awesome, but we are catfish snobs. lol) catfish, etc. My review would have been 4 stars, except for the mix-up that happened after I arrived to pick up an online order. Was told 'pull up front it will be a few minutes' but it seems they lost by order and never started it. Within about 10 minutes they came out to the car and apologized, explaining they were busy and messed up. This little diner deserves to be on Yelp. It's deliciously fantastic! I've been going here since I was small up in Bethany. I've never had a bad experience coming here with friends or family. Their salads are my favorite thing to eat with a basket of pickle-o's to share! The basket is $2.99 and so worth it because you have enough for two people and possibly even leftovers! I highly recommend this small place. Not only is the food good, but there's 50's style pictures everywhere along with their own radio station. The Boomarang Diner in Norman is one of my favorite places for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You gotta love the '50s inspired diner feel, Boomarang even has its own radio station! The Big Breakfast is an awesome choice if you want a little bit of everything (eggs cooked how you want, sausage or bacon, hash browns, toast or biscuits and gravy). Their Burger Basket for lunch is a great deal as well at only $5.69. The service at Boomarang is always great and the food typically comes out super fast. I like that you can call ahead and pick up your to-go order in the drive thru. They also have specials everyday, this is a Norman classic! read more
