Food: Normally, it's very good. However, it's seems the kitchen is a bit rusty in things of food prep. I ordered a Chicken Fried steak. When it arrived. It was slightly over cooked. The breading ate very hard and crunchy. Not like fried chicken crunchy but like small travel crunchy. The onion rings were so over cooked I ate 1. Way to hard. The Garlic Parmesan bread was very dry. Toast usually is but not like the Sahara dry. I ordered a cup of chili for one of my sides. Here is the bright spot of my meal. It had beans in it. I don't care for beans in my chili but overall. The flavor was very good. I was pleasantly surprised. My friend ordered a Rubin Sandwich. It looked very good but alas it was just average. The Sweet Potato fries were decent but to, were over cooked. I've not found in the past that Black Bears food was so off putting it nicely. Service: We arrived and were seated. Menus already on the table. Began to peruse the menu quickly deciding on my meal. Before we saw our wait person approximately 9 or 10 minutes had passed. Finally, she appeared from somewhere. Asked for our drink order and a few minutes later she returned. The restaurant had very few people. After delivering our drink she saw my friend was still looking at the menu. She left and returned about 5 minutes later. Mind you there was only one other couple in her section at the time. I drank my drink and it was 10 minutes later before she returned and brought another drink to me. We ordered and the food arrive in a normal time. I saw immediately, it was over cooked. This brought back memories of other occasions of eating here over the last year. I usually get soup as one of my sides. Not this time. I was tired of eating clam chowder that reminded me of a goey wall paper paste. I opened for the chili. Good choice. I liked it. It's the 4th time we've eaten here in the last 5 months. I think I'll have to say Black Bear has a failing grade. I think this is sad since as a Chef I can tell the owners of gone to great lengths and effort to provide good food. If it were me. On our way back home to Texas, my brother and I decided to grab breakfast at the Black Bear Diner. The outside of the restaurant has carvings of bears and a bench with bears on either side. The inside of the restaurant is very elegant, all the decorations and displays are black bears which fits the persona of the restaurant perfectly. We were promptly greeted by Ms. LaNeisa, who has a very bubbly personality, made us feel welcomed, and very kind smile and lead us to our table. She took our drink orders, 2 cups of coffee, and water. Ms. LaNeisa, took our orders I ordered the Shasta Veggie Scramble which had Avocado, spinach, tomato, onion, bell pepper & jack cheese with wheat toast and crispy hash brown potatoes. My brother had the 2-Egg Classic Combos. All egg breakfasts are served with choice of side and a homemade biscuit, he opted for two chicken sausage, and pancakes. Both our meals were mouth watering and very delicious. After eating we were looking to buy some shirts but didn't have anything we liked. I really liked this place. This place stays fairly busy so I could not wait any longer to try it out. The greeter seemed tired but pleasant. We were seated by the kitchen which was very loud with dishes getting washed and banged around. Our waiter was cordial and gave us plenty of time to decide on our order. Breakfast is served all day and the menu is a large selection. They also serve a large selection of desserts. We opted for the BLT sandwich and Chicken tenders. This was served fairly quickly. Breakfast must be the "go-to" item here as our order was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Thought the prices were a little high and the service was on the low side. Drinks were refilled at the end of the meal. I realize I may have caught a bad day so this will not deter an additional visit. read more

First of all, if you notice all the pictures on this page, they are stock photos from the business owner. There's no place here for a patron to post a photo... Perhaps because their food looks nothing like their stock photos. Burger came out with no sauce or mayonnaise and Patty not even a fourth of an inch thick. For most diner there or not many options but the Black Bear had a few solid options. I had the Shasta omelette and a side order or French Toast and my friend the Sweet cream waffles with bacon and eggs. All items came out at the prefect temperature. Things have changed at this location. Walked in and saw many dirty tables not cleared and then waited several minutes for an emplyee to notice we were there to be seated as they were busy visiting or playing on their phones. I have always enjoyed the food, but have to admit, it was not all that good this evening. My cole slaw was very old and the bacon on my husband's burger should have been discarded many days ago as it did not smell quite right and had a sour taste. My Grandson had breakfast and it was done right and he enjoyed it very much. Very few customers at supper time, but the service and food may be the reason. We both got the hungry man breakfast which included 2 HUGE pancakes, a generous portion of hash browns, 2 eggs our way, 2 pieces of thick bacon, 2 sausage links and a huge piece of ham. Everything about this meal was so so delicious! The sweet cream pancakes were probably the best I have ever had. They taste like cake! The value of this meal is unbelievable! It made 3 meals for me! My family thought the Black Bear Diner in Midwest City was better than this Black Bear Diner. I ordered the Pot Roast Dinner and although the plate looked appetizing, it was dry and blander. The broccoli I had for my side was black on the ends so I was uncertain as to if it was mold or dirt or if they burnt my broccoli trying to roast it. The waitress was friendly. The ambience was alright. Low traffic with other patrons. There was another guest that found a hair in her dish when we were waiting on our food to arrive at the table. read more

I meet with some friends every Saturday morning, right around 6:00, when they open. Most of the time, when we come in, the place is dirty. You can tell the evening shift doesn't clean up before they leave. There have even been times when the coffee warmer was left on overnight, and left splatters all over the wall behind it. The waitress had taken our order first, then immediately took the orders of two other tables and inserted them in the computer all at once. The two tables whose order was taken after ours had gotten their food, eaten and had left before we had gotten our food! The waitress even brought out the kids food 45 minutes before everyone else. We then watched as our burgers sat under the heating lamp for 25 minutes and the waitress and manager had said it just came out. The burgers and fries were cold and the fish ordered was over cooked. After we confronted the waitress about everything, she then went out of her way to avoid us! This is the worst that we have ever had service and food and extremely disappointed. Ate there tonight with my husband. This is one of our go to restaurants. However, tonight was different. I ordered the roasted turkey and boy was I disappointed. First of all the turkey was dry. They did give me plenty of turkey gravy, but it was tasteless. The whole thing was tasteless. The muffin was tiny and not fresh. The onion rings were the worst. They definitely came out of two different batches and the texture of the onion rings were different. It definitely did not belong in the same batch. I didn't say anything to the waitress, but I think by my face she could tell I wasn't extremely happy. I don't ever send food back at any restaurant and you can all imagine why. So even though I've been coming to the restaurant since it opened several years, in fact, maybe more than five, I will not be coming back. I will not be spending my money to get this kind of food and on top of it pay top tips. I'm really sad because it's pretty close to my house and used to be a restaurant we would go to. one observation...I came at the beginning of dinner ... hardly other patrons in the restaurant and that could be a point never go if there's not people there because the couple beside me arrived much later and as I was just sitting there waiting on my husband to finish his food their food was being served. Their muffins really looked good. I think that's when I started getting irritated, and decided to write a review. I came early and received leftovers or food that was old. The death nail in this is after all the waiting, whose food gets messed up... the pregnant lady's. I ordered a rare prime rib. I got a steak with no pink at all. The steak was so well done I couldn't eat it. It was tough as shoe leather. They were out of prime rib so they replaced it with a New York steak then they tried to charge me the extra for the New York steak. I was asked if I wanted a loaded baked potato. They took the ticket back and adjusted the price of the steak back to the price of the prime rib. But then they added 2$ for the loaded baked potato. They didn't tell me it was 2$ extra for the loaded baked potatoe when I ordered it. That refused to take the 2$ off. So all that and they only took off 1$. Honestly it should have been free at that point. They messed up every single plate at our table of 6. None of us got the cornbread muffins that came with the dinner. read more
