After shopping and walking around the streets, grabbing a bite to eat for lunch here was much needed. We had wanted to sit on the rooftop to enjoy the views but it wasn't opening until 4PM so we didn't get to experience that. The clam chowder was on special so I ordered that to start with some peel and eat shrimp, cold- you can get them hot or cold and they were perfectly done and the cocktail sauce wasn't so strong that it overpowered the shrimp which was appreciated. My husband and I shared the trout basket and they were very lightly breaded, not greasy at all and well seasoned. My son ordered a cheeseburger and raved about it so much that he told our waitress on the way out that it was 5-star worthy. Note: he orders burgers everywhere we go so I trust his judgement . It was cooked how he asked- medium rare- and was thick and juicy to top it off. If you're looking for a spot with friendly service and delicious food- it's a must try in Sutton's Bay. read more

The food was very good. My husband had a Shrimp Basket and I had a French Dip. Boone's sauces were different from most restaurants. Better. Three service was a not slow, but there appeared to be one server. We wanted to sit in the upstairs patio, but we were told it was closed. We were so bummed. The tables were too cramped in the indoor dining room. I don't think a wheelchair could navigate inside. I had to squeeze between tables/chairs to exit the restaurant. While there are several eating establishments in northern Michigan with "Boone's" in the name, this is our favorite. All have a woodsy theme going on, but the food here is the best. A very busy place, we were lucky we didn't have to wait long for a table. We wanted to sit on the roof patio, which is very popular, since there are views of the lake and the bustling street below. But be aware, there is no elevator, just lots of stairs. Worth it if you can manage it. Tables were clean and service was friendly and fairly prompt. I ordered the namesake "Boone's Burger," with chips, the default side. Hubby ordered the whitefish sandwich with a side of fries. Our son, knowing I don't usually finish my food, ordered soup, intending to finish my order, which he did, as well as his dad's, lol. Smart kid. He ordered the clam chowder, which he liked. I loved my burger, though it only came with one small leaf of romaine lettuce and one small slice of tomato, and three nice pickle slices. No mayo, so I used some of my hubby's tartar sauce, since it tasted like mayo and relish. But we did ask for more tomatoes, which our server brought quickly. The chips were a decent kettle chip, so I was happy. My medium burger was excellent! Quarter pound and cooked perfectly. I loved it. Hubby, on the other hand, wasn't really happy with his sandwich. Although the whitefish was freshly caught, he said it was dry. It was fried, so not sure how that even happened. He wasn't unhappy enough to complain, but he didn't finish it, and he usually finishes a sandwich. I'm sure they would have replaced it if he had said something, it is that kind of place. If you can get a table it is a fun place to grab a bite, especially if you can get a seat on the roof. Parking is a bit of a challenge, so drop off your party first. We stopped in for lunch on a Thursday - we were seated promptly and the waitstaff was super nice. I love a Bloody Mary and they have a famous one on their menu I was anxious to try. The great - the atmosphere was great and the booth we sat on surprisingly comfy. Two had the chicken tender basket 4/5 for one and 5/5 for the other. The perch basket ranked high as well. One had the meatloaf 'sandwich' which arrived more like an open faced hot sandwich. It looked great and got a good review from the friend who had it. The chili was flat out outstanding! Flavorful and just the right amount of spice. Our great server had me taste it right away to make sure the temperature was hot enough. There was a nice variety of draft beer as well. The disappointing - the Bloody Mary. It was a visual masterpiece as you can tell by the attached pictures. The good - both sliders and the fries pickles. The rim was salted with what I describe as fresh everything bagel seasoning and it was really flavorful. The not so good- The onion rings needed more time in the frier as the breading was not very crispy. The bad - the Bloody Mary. Lots of vodka and spice but there wasn't much tomato flavor. I have to say I've never left a Bloody Mary unconsumed until today but I maybe had three sips and it was just bad. Hind site I perhaps should have asked for more tomato juice to add to the drink. As it was I enjoyed the company of friends, great atmosphere and my sliders. We would return again. read more

Do not have waiter Jack as your server. He seems personable - but does not know how to mange his tables. A table of 3 sat down and ordered 15 minutes after I ordered and were served their food before mine. No sight of my perch basket. I reported to the staff. They stated he was new. NO excuse. Will never sit in his section ever again. I left after sitting for one hour. read more

We sat upstairs for dinner. The view was nice. The burgers were good. Many reviews I had raved about them. We had the mushroom burger, there were a good amount of mushrooms but it really needed a sauce on it. The western burger was the best by far! The burger meat was juicy and cooked properly. We also had the Reuben. It was delicious. it was loaded with meat, kraut sauce on marble bread. The cherry chicken salad was also good and fresh! read more

This is a favorite place to dine! We have lived here since 1986 and Boone's has been consistently great. The burgers, steaks, sandwiches, fish, and everything else is wonderful! We dropped into Boone's Pub for lunch on a beautiful Fall Saturday. If you've never been here, the first thing you notice is a large, open bar typically packed with a nice mix of locals and visitors. The vibe is fresh, the TVs are on (happened to be college football for us) and the staff is beyond friendly and helpful. My wife and I started with the Arizona Eggrolls. Let me forewarn you......NOT ordering these would be a massive mistake! Definitely homemade, flaky crust with savory stuffings (we ate all but one before I took the pic, apologies). They had a whitefish special which my wife ordered as a sandwich and I as an entree. Mine came with a side salad which was crisp, plenty of tomatos and shredded cheese. We both ordered sweet potato fries with our meals (I asked for "crispy") and they came out perfect, highly recommend them. The whitefish, provided by a local vendor (Carlsons of Leland) was over fried and came out a bit dry. However, we plan on visiting again in the near future. read more

If you are in Sutton Bay and looking for dinner, I recommend stopping in and giving this place a try. This is a nice quaint place to eat! There is also a rooftop dining area along with a bar area. The drinks are good and our food was delicious! I had the lake perch and it was cooked well and tasted great! We had onion rings for an appetizer and they were great and they have great ranch! Our service was very good. We didn't have to wait long, which was surprising since we were a party of 6. I would come back here again and recommend you giving them a try. Twenty four years ago, I bartended at this restaurant. It was very popular and busy at that time, as it was on my visit tonight. Imagine my pleasure and surprise when greeted by our waitress, Sheila who worked with me back in the day. We are greeted immediately at the door and sat in a nice booth in the lower alcove. There is outdoor seating that was added on after my departure that looked amazing. Since we spent most of the day at Sleeping Bear Dunes I think we were all ok with being inside! Sheila greeted us and told us the specials, which my husband took advantage of-whitefish platter. He was duly impressed. My son's girlfriend and I split the Hawaiian chicken and my memory served me correctly, it was too much for one of us! Refreshing to see the portions were just as large as 24 years ago! My daughter and son had chicken tenders and buffalo wing respectively which were great, and neither could finish. Boones was as I remembered, a great trek down memory lane. Boones is a gem of an establishment in the Sutton's Bay/Traverse City area. Comfy, casual, hometown feel with fabulous food! Always fresh and delicious! Goes beyond standard pub food. Burgers, fish and other entrees, soups, sides, salads...you can't go wrong! Always busy. A little noisy, but again, that's part of the home-y atmosphere. First time eating here and we will definitely be back whenever we're in the area! We got seated immediately and the food came quickly.We ordered the Arizona egg rolls to start which were excellent. I loved the tang of the bbq sauce in them and the crispy wrapper shell and the ranch dressing. My husband and I ordered the chicken tenders and the Western burger so we could share them. The burger was THE BEST burger I've ever had! It was cooked perfectly and was full of flavor. The chicken tenders are homemade and you can tell. The chicken is thick and juicy and the coating is crispy but not heavy. This was the first place my husband and I went out to eat after COVID restrictions were eased a few years ago. The staff did not hesitate when I asked to sit outside, even though it meant coming out for only one table. They were very attentive and pleasant, in spite of putting up with abusive behavior by one entitled couple who apparently did not appreciate all the reasonable options they were given for being served. Very friendly staff. We were here on a Friday afternoon and the place was full but we got seated immediately. It was more of a snack so I got the clam chowder and hummus appetizer. The clam chowder was delicious and very creamy. The hummus appetizer has a basil topping and came with pita wedges that were crispy and delicious. There was way more pita than hummus, which is really unusual. I enjoyed both of my items and I actually had to get a carry out box because there was more than I could even eat with just a cup of soup!! I suppose it could have been worse, but I'm really comfortable sharing that this meal was terrible and extremely expensive given how poor it was. If this restaurant was anywhere else, it would be out of business(location, location, location!). The meatloaf looked appetizing but I didn't order that, I ordered a lake perch sandwich after finding out that they were out of whitefish and it was disappointing. My son's burger did not come with cheese(they gave me a cup of shedded cheese when I asked) and it was burned. If you enjoy overpaying for underwhelming food, this spot is for you!!!! read more

A Damn Good Burger !! My wife and I had a long day of wine tasting and bike riding so we made it in here a little late. About 1950. . We wanted to sit outside but was told they ended seating outside at 2000 due to a local bug issue around that time. We were sat immediately with happy people. They are taking standard precautions. After people who came in after us were seated and 40 minutes have passed, we are told to sit at a two person table, which we did. We did not even get to look at a menu. The server came over, without menus and asked us to move to another table because they had a six top and needed to slide the table next to us to accommodate them. A great place to grab a bite to eat, we went in there and washed away the whole days worth of wine sampling. Great food, great appetizers, great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the Mushroom Burger (Drunken Schroom Burger). The mushrooms were marinated in a beef / butter mixture, and it was enjoyable as we recovered from a great day on Leelanau. The service was really friendly, as it does seem to be a very popular local area. Would definitely come back for another round next time we're in town! read more

Boone's Pub is up north charm at its finest! We loved the warm welcome we received as soon as we walked in, the rustic architecture, warm fireplace and delicious home cooked food. Taking everything to the next level is SHEILA, waitress and sweetheart of the year. As soon as she greeted us I said to my husband "that's the up north charm I love so much." She really made our experience special. We (of course) had to try the Massive Mary. DO IT! Great drink and the burgers and extras are incredible! Smallish interior gives one a cozy, down home feel. As I arrived during Happy Hour, took full advantage and had Arizona egg roll, Slider, and Jumbo Onion Ring appetizers at half price. Every dish was delicious. I highly recommend the egg rolls. The onion rings are very jumbo sized and have great crunch to them. Overall I enjoyed my dining experience.
