FoodTrip - full, happy, and smiling. We loved this place…read more First of all, the young waiter (owner's son maybe?) was everywhere -- running the floor nonstop with the best attitude. Super attentive, genuinely hardworking, and honestly impressive. I ordered the crispy milkfish (the famous Filipino national fish), and my husband had the chicken skewers. The seasoning was slightly bold, but with rice it was perfectly balanced -- exactly how it should be. At the next table, a group ordered noodles and Crispy Pata. What a generous portion of the food! Let me just say: that pork leg looked like something a medieval barbarian would proudly feast on. Huge. Legendary. Easily enough for four people. This is not a "small portion" place. This is a come hungry, leave very full kind of place -- in the best way. We were curious about the ube ice cream, and they kindly treated us to it. A lovely surprise and a sweet ending. Bonus: Bible verses on the walls made the whole space feel warm and welcoming. Great food, generous portions, kind people. This feels like a place destined to succeed. We'll be back.

Lumpiang Shanghai: Unfortunately they were soggy and no longer crispy. (Note that we did get…read moretakeout but this shouldn't be too much of an effect because our lechon was nice and crispy.) The flavor was alright but I've had better lumpia anywhere else. Also curiously small in size. Lechon Kawali: Whenever we got a piece of the pork rind/skin it was nice and crispy. Unfortunately all we got in our order was pork skin. Only about 10% was any actual pork meat. We basically got chicharron. Pancit Bihon: This was the third best part of our order. There was a nice assortment of proteins, got some shrimp, chicken, and sausage. However it was a bit dry. Garlic Rice: Nice and flavorful, not too oily or salty. My favorite savoury item that I tried. Can't go wrong and it complements every main dish. Halo Halo: This was the best part of our order. The ube ice cream complimented the other ingredients. It was sweet (as it should be) but this was balanced by all the different textures. As far as service goes, we chose to do takeout so can't speak much on that. The wait was about half an hour which may have been longer than usual because a large birthday party was dining in when we arrived. We were assisted as promptly as the single worker taking orders could. The interior is very casual. One thing I'd keep in mind if dining in is that the place can get pretty smokey. Not sure how their ventilation system is but when I came back to pick up my order, the inside was looking a little hazy. Cost would deter me from coming back because our order was nearly $70 for what we got. The Halo Halo alone was $10. The quality of what we got did not justify the high price. It could have just been a bad day because they had a bigger party to tend to but it shouldn't affect the quality of food coming out even if it's just for first time take-out orders.

We were in Solvang and were craving Asian food. This restaurant was one of the only Asian places in…read morethe area. We decided to take a bet and try it out and was pleasantly surprised by how authentic and great the food tasted. We ordered mapo tofu medium spice and beef stir fry with onions. All entrees came with white rice. Rice was cooked well. Mapo tofu had bit of mala spice and it was so good! It had good salty, spicy flavor that I liked. It also came with pork and you can choose to put meat on it or not. The beef stir fry had really good flavor and matched well with rice. We ended up finishing everything and we were very content with our dinner. The service was great, and the food came very fast. There was actually only one other guest party other than us. We assume it's because it's weekday and not many people are in the area. I hope more people check this place out. The only thing is the price is overpriced for the food but food quality and authenticity is very good!

The food was pretty good for being the only Chinese restaurant in all of Santa Ynez Valley (if you…read moredon't count Panda Express). The PoPo Platter (aka PuPu Platter) had the paper wrapped chicken replaced by beef skewers. The Egg Drop Soup we ordered included seaweed was the small order, and it can feed 5 easily. Water Boiled Fish was one of a few Sichuanese offerings on the menu, and it looked and tasted close to the authentic version. Of course, I had to have my Kung Pao Chicken. And we rounded out the meal with Assorted Pan Fried Noodles. Enjoyed having the meal here as a service was very good as well. Mind stopping here during my next wine tasting trip in the area.

It was a cold and rainy day, so chicken soup sounded perfect…read more I found this little restaurant close to our hotel. I had the chicken pho. It was full of white meat chicken, yummy rice noodles, and savory broth. Absolutely delicious and warming. Hubby had the shrimp pho. He was very pleased. He had a large bowl and slurped down every drop. Loved this little gem of a restaurant, and hope to return.

My girlfriend and I visited Noodle City since our regular pho spot was temporarily closed…read more I ordered the pho super bowl with everything except rare steak (flank, tripe, tendon, and meatballs. Personal preference but, I believe it is a crime to not have brisket when serving pho. The only options left were dry, tougher cuts that felt very mediocre. Regarding the broth, it was overwhelmingly bland. It was extremely clear and had minimal fat. Again personal preference but, it seems they had extracted all of the fat after simmering the beef and that left the broth so lackluster. We also got the Thai tea and my girlfriend thought it was delicious. Regarding the ambiance, I think Noodle City tries their best making use of their limited space. However, it wasn't very clean: the spoons were a bit dirty, it seemed like the floor isn't cleaned often, and the utensil/condiment holder on our table was a mess with the chopsticks about to fall off the table. As for the service, they had plenty on their hands tonight as a ~12 top came in shortly after us and they a line out the door until right before we left. They checked in multiple times, however, we did have to mention our thai tea was forgotten and got it AFTER our pho came out. It also seemed like there was an altercation with a male server and the party of 12: orders were confused and he yelled "well figure it out". Overall, I've been to Noodle City for ~3 years and I think they have GREAT rice dishes. However, their pho is pretty mediocre, service is often fast but not friendly, and prices are always CHEAP.
