We really wanted to like this place. The spot is cozy and our server was super nice but the food though fell short of expectations. We ordered a couple of entrees from the dinner menu. Overall both my and and wife's portion was way too salty. My wife entrees had an acquired taste plus majority of it was just beans but very minimal protein

    Coconut milk soup. Medium spicy.

It's never going to be sweet at Boonton Thai and for good reason. Sweet is not authentic It is the finest Thai food in NJ. Period. Not candy. But real terroir driven momma cooking with love.

Service was great. It's a cute place. Food was good too! Good local place for Thai craving.

This place was amazing! I came a couple weeks ago with my husband, our friend and his son. It's a hole in the wall for sure. It's a very small restaurant so I recommend you plan to get there early if you want to be seated right away. I ordered the drunken noodles and my husband ordered their mango curry. First off I love, love coconut milk currys and this place is my new favorite. I tried my husband's curry and I could not stop eating it. He ordered it with a spice level of hot because we love spicy and it was the perfect level of spicy. My drunken noodles were pretty good too but once I had the curry I kind of forgot about it. My husband enjoyed my drunken noodles as well so he wasn't upset at all. I always enjoy a Thai tea along with my Thai food so I had to have it and it was pretty delicious as well. I have been craving this spot for a while again and it has barely been two weeks. So I'll definitely be going back soon. They are very affordable which is a huge plus because their food is just delicious. They are BYOB so if you want to have some alcohol your more than welcome to bring it. Also they do carry outs so if your not wanting to wait or want to do something more private then order ahead. Overall I recommend anyone to try it and go back for more. I'm excited to try more of their Currys.

Came by for dinner. Small place with not much seating. First thing I noticed is how unbearably hot it is in this shop. The have several ceiling fans and small oscillating fans spread out but it is little help. I ordered the Pad Thai with chicken. A decent portion and was tasty but nothing outrageously good about it. I would give the Pad Thai three stars but it was so hot I could finish my meal and got the rest to go. I can't imagine if you ordered something spicy! So I gave one star for the room because it is so uncomfortable I had to leave. I would go back in the Winter and try another dish.

Was craving thai, but didn't want to drive too far. Thankfully, Boonton Thai was a 5 min drive up the road. Ordered the Boonton Thai Mussels, Shrimp Tom Kha, and a Chicken & Shrimp Massaman Curry. The mussels were complimented by a broth flavored with thai basil. The Tom Kha had a rich coconut broth, which enhanced the shrimp's natural taste. The Massaman was spicy and delicious. A rich curry which was exactly what craved. If you're in the area, be sure to swing by.

Oh my goodness.... i can finally say i finally found a great thai place that's close to me.... I passed by the area couple weeks ago and saw the sign "now open"... i was determine to try!! and man, did i find the little gem here... It's a very small place and you need to find street parking... as you walk in, you will see the open kitchen, with couple small tables (so not too good for big crowd i think)... so my husband and i sat down and were determine to try something that we loved from another thai restaurant to "test them out"... We ordered duck pineapple curry, clay pot shrimp and lard na... the food was AWESOME!! you see them making your dishes in the kitchen, so so fresh!!! presentation is very nice, and taste, oh man... it was delicious... Service is awesome!! the lady keep stopping by and check on us and see if we need anything and how's the food was!!! take out is busy too because you hear the phone keep ringing!! that means they are good... So, do go try them out... i am determine to try everything on their menu and tell you how good they all are... :)

I asked for very mild curry for my girlfriend, but this was the most spicy dish I ever tasted. Nice host, but you need a new chef..

I love their food. The ambience is not fancy, just small family Main Street restaurant that serves real nice food. Solid choice.

Boonton Thai got our order wrong, and they also did not give me rice with the curry. This place has gone down hill.

The last couple of times I tried to come here, the wait was out the door, so long that my group bailed. So I called tonight, just two people, and we went right in with no wait! Third time's the charm. This place is as charming on the inside as it is on the outside. If it seems overdone on the outside (make sure to enjoy the live koi!), it gives way to tasteful elegance on the inside. There is no dress code, but don't wear shorts or a T-shirt. Level up a bit. For those who remember Chengdu 46, that's what it's like here - upscale ambiance without being a gourmet restaurant. That said: this is gourmet cuisine. I ordered from the full page of Chinese authentic recipes: Szechuan boiled stew - with beef as it is the traditional meat, I was told. SIde of rice, extra spicy. When it came out, presentation: 10/10. My stars, that was enough food for an entire family. I took my first bite and immediately stopped responding to the outside world. How was my food? I nodded. Other than more water and requesting a second bowl of rice (which was gladly provided at no fee), I went through pretty much the entire gigantic platter in one go. That. is five stars. My mother said chicken and mixed vegetable was 5 stars delicious. The only flaw was too much starch in the sauce, but a review later confirmed that traditional Chinese sauce does use a lot of starch. Authentic through and through. And if you couldn't tell from this, service is also gourmet. You are greeted immediately, escorted straight to your seat, and water appears. Utensils appear. WIth the size of this restaurant and the population ordering inside, there is almost always a staff member walking by your table. If they don't notice you need something, all you have to do is signal or ask, and it will be yours. Chopsticks. More water. More rice. To-go container. Young, old, different dress, we had at least 8 different people come by at some point for something. Spectacular. Out came the bill. In the end, it wasn't all that much for the quantity and quality of food that we got. Now I'm forewarned next time I come: bring my appetite. And more people to share all the food. Join me.

For appetizers, the dumplings in hot oil are a must-share. We've tried a bunch of different entrees over time, but the Mongolian dishes and kung po are our go-to favorites -- consistently great. Service is always super attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you're looking for a solid, reliable Chinese spot.

And when I sat down inside this ultra-casual restaurant - I'm pretty sure that it's a converted residential house - I only saw my fellow diners ordering sushi. So don't come here for ramen; come for an incredibly tasty, inexpensive sushi experience. I had an amazing roll, and let me tell you, the presentation is stunning. It came out sizzling on cast iron, while my server spooned garlic sauce over the top to cook it and add dazzle. Filled with avocado and spicy tuna, the portion would be perfect for sharing with someone. I also had a dynamite roll, which more or less melted in my mouth. I was less wild about the Christian crosses at every table. I'm a secular person. All in all though, Asahi qualifies as a hidden, off-the-beaten-path gem of Parsippany.

When we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed the door was held open with an elastic cord.. which seemed very odd to both my dining companion and I considering the chill in the mid-autumn evening air.. until we walked up the stairs and both noticed the thick smoky haze hanging in the air inside the restaurant. We looked at each other, nodded, and made a quick 180-degree turn, then drove to another local establishment for our ramen fix.
