FYI, this is a takeout place! There is street parking but you can also park at 7/11 and cross the street (which is what we did). The place is spacious despite it being only for takeout, and it has a nice counter. We called our order and it took them 15 minutes to have it ready, which was much appreciated as we were starving! We got the dumplings, basil fried rice, and drunken noodles - it all came out to $32 which is an incredible price for the amount of food we received! The dumplings were okay, not the greatest I've had but not bad. The basil fried rice and drunken noodles were both good, they have a decent amount of chicken and vegetables, and the spice levels were true to what they said! We ordered the rice as spicy (level 1) and the noodles as very spicy (level 2) and they did not disappoint! This place is definitely my go-to takeout place now! I've tried a lot of Thai restaurants in the area, but this place has the best food. The service is great and timely: my order is always ready 20-30min after I order. The food itself is amazing and packed full of flavor and color. Everything is always hot and fresh. Spice level can be customized for most dishes but no matter how spicy I get it, the food still tastes great. The prices are better than I've seen anywhere else and the portions are pretty big for that price (I always have leftovers to enjoy the next day). Parking is on the street but I've never had trouble finding a spot close by and the area is very pedestrian friendly (sidewalks and crosswalks everywhere). We came for some takeout on a weekday afternoon, and the food was ready within 15 minutes after placing the order over the phone. There is no indoor or outdoor seating at the moment. We ordered the lunch special ($7.99 each): a Chicken Pad Thai and a Chicken Pad See Ew, both of which come with either a Ginger Soup or a beverage of your choice. The Pad Thai was more citrus based instead of peanut based, which was different from most other Pad Thais I have tasted. The Pad See Ew was perfect, and the Ginger Soup was exactly what was needed on a cold winter day. The soup was packed with hearty mushrooms, sliced onions, and herbs. Ask about the level of heat in spicy dishes if you are not sure ; we got the Green Curry and there was a hint of heat. Pineapple fried rice was a great of blend of of sweet and savory. The Thai Chicken Wings spicy and sweet chili sauce were crispy and delicious; my son said he liked them better than Bon Chon. I loved chicken satay, and curry puffs from the Real Thai Sampler too. A relatively new Thai place in Lake Hiawatha, not bad! The decor wasn't the best, but there was plenty of room for small to midsized groups. The pad Thai was pretty good- a balanced blend of flavors and nice chewiness to the noodles. A bit wet/saucy for my liking though. Pineapple fried rice was also decent, with a lot of flavor. Kee Mao (drunken noodles) was ok, but I would get some of the other dishes over it. Only think that irked me was that this place does not provide water- you have to buy it yourself. Real Thai is an hour drive from my home so when I happened to be driving home from nearby, I knew that I had an excuse to go there. I ordered quite a few dishes including noodles and fried rice. 5 stars for a solid takeout place - the prices are super reasonable (~$10 for dinner entree) and the portions are HUGE! The food was delicious - I tried the pad thai, pad see ew, and pad kee mao - all were wonderful and were at least twice the portion for the price at other local Thai places. Restaurant is located in the downtown - it is pretty easy to miss and the parking can be challenging. The restaurant interior seems like it was formerly a very old diner/deli... dark setup and possibly not the best temperature control.
