Back to start our greatest hits tour and they did not disappoint! A fix priced $100 pp menu was excellent - start to finish. And, on a perfect spring evening on the deck with the sky fading to black over the distant hills and the temperature slowly cooling, it was magical. Started with olives, almonds and a carafe of local rose, which was delicious. This was followed by some outstanding bread with herb butter and caperberries, and local, Mendocino cured king salmon, which was a celiac special! It was delicious and herbaceous with avocado, caperberries and dill. This was followed by the salad greens with asparagus and bresaola. The bresaola was a great compliment to the greens and the asparagus was particularly unique - fresh, crisp, fresh and while not quite asparagus-y they were so good, a bit sweet. They were from Zuckerman Farms in the Sacramento valley. Next was a bowl of noodles and asparagus, ramps, very fresh fava beans (not firm or mushy!) and parsley, or the same over polenta instead of Italian pasta noodles for the gluten-free. It was simple, but fresh and rich and luxurious. Three for three at this point. The end point was duck confit with oranges and kumquats over wild rice with some greens. The duck was perfectly cooked, although a tad too salty. Nonetheless, we cleaned the plates. And, who would have paired rosemary with oranges (?) but it worked. The meal was finished with vanilla ice cream over meringue, topped with lemon curd, and fresh strawberries and rhubarb, both of which were not only fresh but redolent of the flavors that they appear to have otherwise lost. The wine list is small but we greatly enjoyed both the pinot rose from Scribe and the pinot noir from Drew. I remain very frustrated by all of their fees and add on costs. Yet, I don't feel cheated or that it was all unreasonable in the end. read more

This was a second stay, and it was just as wonderful as the first. In a world of hyper-commercialism and advertising, keeping things simple is really hard to do, and the Boonville Hotel & Restaurant flawlessly pulls it off. Every detail, from the freshly cut flowers inside the room to the garden and living room in the main house, is purposeful and elegant. I also should mention the food, which is excellent! The culture of the Anderson Valley gracefully comes through with every bite. In fact, the food alone is worth the trip. I have been to many Michelin-rated restaurants. While the meal might not be accompanied by the chef's life story, everything about the food, the dining atmosphere, and the local ingredients is every bit Michelin quality. A few other tidbits: Kid friendly, plenty of space to play in the backyard, but no games, no pool. The sister restaurant, Offspring at the Farrer Building, across the street has the same food, but also pizza and a few other kid friendly options. Two onsite EV charging stations. This review is for the restaurant. What used to be one of our favorite restaurants in CA has gone downhill quite a bit. We sat at our table over 30min before any bite of food arrived. After a full day of wine tasting, that was a difficult wait. The restaurant wasn't even busy at that time and with a mandatory 20% service charge, it just felt wrong. The food has also gotten more boring. Too many non-housemade items across the courses feels a bit lazy. The menu says '5 courses' but one of those courses is a sorbet palate cleanser... that the server characterized as a 'surprise dessert.' So was the surprise that the other 5th course is just missing? At $160/person after tax/tip, this meal falls flat even compared to some Bay Area spots, especially with the high use of non prepared ingredients. I hope they turn it around. We'll be back at some point as we can't not support a great business in AV, but this one stung a bit. read more

The food was excellent. My group thought the food was better than Michelin rated restaurants they've been to!! Everything was so fresh and perfect. We went on a Friday night and v the main course was filet of soul served in the whole fish in a plate. It was so tasty, when though I was full I kept going back for more. Did you ever have a salad with avocados that were enough for all eating it? The avocados were perfect. I could go on and on about the meal. They do not have hard alcohol just an FYI but we had an Amaro Palmer that was delish! We stayed overnight in their lodging, they let us stay 1 night so they are flexible. Cabins were updated and it was so nice to drop into bed after food and drink. The only thing I'd wish was a room with 2 beds because we were friends not couples and 2 beds would have been nice. Breakfast next morning was also excellent, best scones we ever experienced! I was in Boonville 10 years before and its quality remains! Also lord of nearby wineries rounded out our trip, with very reasonable wine tasting fees. You can't miss with this place, please consider. My husband and I booked a room for one night to celebrate his birthday. From the moment we were greeted at check-in by V, thru the prix-fixe dinner menue of raw oysters, chilled avocado soup, salad with endive, cucumber& peaches, fried chicken with polenta and dessert of bittersweet chocolate ice cream over meringue and service by Josh, thru checkout the following day by Kathryn- everyone was welcoming and friendly! The kitchen was accommodating to my request for horseradish for the oysters, too! Our room was wonderfully appointed and the bed (and pillows!) was comfortable, as was the hammock on the deck, which overlooked the street and view of the golden hills, beyond. Breakfast was included and consisted of homemade granola, fresh strawberries and yogurt, delicious scones with apricot jam, hard boil egg, coffee, etc. The garden and grounds are beautifully kept with several places to sit and relax. Food was excellent! We had oysters with an apple mignonette. A potato leek soup with a soft poached egg and wild mushrooms. The main was a brined pork loin that was tender and delicious. One of our favorite dishes was actually from the bar menu, was the gnudi with a tomato sauce and Parmesan. Simple yet so well done. The dessert was a chocolate pecan torte! We stopped in this week at 5pm to grab a glass of wine and to order from their simple bar menu (casual) served from 4-6pm only. Beautiful atmosphere, quaint & rustic; stress melts away the moment you step into the door. My glass of Roederer champagne $16 arrived in a wine glass, instead of a champagne glass, unexpected at a restaurant of this caliber. Our order of Six Spanish Bay Oysters $25 arrived on salt instead of ice and was served with the mignonette on them, yet were on the dry side. The pasta $25 was undercooked with very little peppercorn sauce, again dry. The small salad contained beautiful fresh lettuce but was over-salted. With the auto 20% service fee our bill came to $100. We may just have ordered the wrong items, maybe an off night, but would not return for their 4-6 dining option again. read more

Everything about this place is fantastic -- the drive up from San Francisco is easy, the vineyards and valleys along the way are charming, it's got cute stores and convenient food alternatives right across the street (if you don't want to eat at the DELICIOUS restaurant), and the service is truly excellent. Not to mention the grounds and rooms, which are casual yet well-appointed. We stayed with a very friendly (but slightly barky-when-in-a-new-environment) Golden Retriever and V, Terri, and Josh were just super friendly and patient. Could have been great, but fell below expectations and left hungry. Made a reservation for 2 on their first Sunday dinner after their paella summer series, and we were seated along their side window overlooking the garden/parking lot. Pros: Intimate dining room with gorgeous table settings; I was obsessed with how buttery-soft their cloth napkins are (I didn't want to dirty them, they was so soft)! Romantic ambience and a unique cocktail menu. I appreciate that they pay their staff a living wage (and therefore, do not accept tips). Cons: The dining space has wonky acoustics, making it difficult to hear your dining companion but very easy to snoop upon tables across the dining room. Of the four-course menu, the first two courses are exceedingly "light," so we left our dinner still hungry. Additionally, they were understaffed, leaving the kitchen to assist the wait staff (and leading to a bit of confusion regarding which table ordered what). We arrived well before the rush and were seated immediately. The wait staff was friendly and took out order right away. As more tables were seated, kitchen staff began assisting the wait staff on the floor. Our cocktails were initially delivered to our neighboring table, so we had to wait an additional 20 minutes or so to receive our beverages (ie. After the first course) which was disappointing. The first course was a few slices of citrus and basil dusted with Parmesan. A dainty dish, but a nice way to wake up the palate! The second course was an endive salad, so bitter as to be indigestible. I took a few bites, but could not manage more and was rather disappointed. Our main course was a bowl of mussels, which were delicious and came served in an herbaceous broth with a side of thick cut bread. While the flavors did not disappoint, the serving size was again, quite small, even with the side of sliced bread. Our waiter came to ask whether we preferred coffee or tea with our dessert course, but did not clarify that it would be an additional charge (+$6 each). While we moved the deconstructed lemon meringue, we did not need the caffeine so late in the day, and would have skipped it had we known it was not a part of the pre-fix menu. I appreciate that the ingredients were mostly local and fresh, still I may have preferred some slight manipulation to balance flavors. On our periodic drive out to the coast today from our Cloverdale home on route 128, we just happened to stop at the Boonville Hotel in search of a cup of coffee. We've driven this route many, many times but never really noticed this low-key place. Wow, were we in for a pleasant surprise! It was late Sunday afternoon, yet the place was filled with positive energy and happy customers of all ages and stripes. "Terri" is the owner, a warm and gregarious lady. She treated us like family and, behind the bar, friendly mixologist "V" passionately created specialty coffee drinks that were out of this world. We had eaten elsewhere just an hour earlier so we didn't order a meal, but we engaged with friendly patrons sitting nearby who were all smiles about their dining experience. The facility is clean and decorated beautiful, including the all-important restrooms. The owners know what they are doing. We will be back for sure, and maybe for an overnight getaway at this hotel in this cute little town! read more

I have dined here a handful of times and it has been consistently excellent. The food is generally locally sourced organic with wonderful meat and vegetables service is always top-notch. I feel very well cared for my allergies are always taken into consideration and accommodated for in the summer, it's really beautiful to dine outside And in the winter they have a fireplace. This is a review of the restaurant. The Boonville Hotel Restaurant is required stop for any trip to Anderson Valley. The ingredients are top notch, the preparation is nearly perfect (the only thing that wasn't perfect was the risotto, which was a little watery), the service is great, and the wine list is awesome (with great prices). I will be going back again on this trip as at $86 it is a great value. More about the wine: - On the wine list they pour glasses of great wine from local producers such as Wentworth ($19/glass) who don't have a tasting room. - I also got a glass of Chateau Guiraud Sauternes ($16/glass), which was great. Last weekend we were in Mendocino Wine Country and had a fabulous meal at Boonville Hotel. For a Friday night reservation, they serve a 5 course meal and most of the produce comes from their garden or other farms within a couple miles of the hotel and restaurant. The meal was served on their patio overlooking the gardens. To start off our meal, we ordered a large carafe of Hobo Wine Company's 2020 'Workbook ' white blend with riesling, tocai fiulano, and verdelho. It was light, refreshing with lemon peel on the palate and a nice herbaceous, mineral and slate finish. It paired exceptionally well with the first dish which was early season lemon cucumbers with radishes, sea lettuce vinaigrette, sesame, sea beans and basil. Next we moved on to a chilled Hass avocado soup with capers and dill crema. It was light and refreshing with a beautiful silky texture. Then we ordered a bottle of local Pinot Noir from Minus Tides Winery. It was from 'Mariah's Vineyard' on the Mendocino Ridge that sits just above the fog line. It was medium bodied and elegant on the palate with beautiful rose and rosemary notes on the finish. The wine is unfined and unfiltered which gave it a slight earthiness and funk that paired beautifully with the next course; California cherries with duck liver pate, little gems, roasted spring carrots and garden tarragon. There was so much happening in the dish in both flavor and texture but the wine held up to the complexity of the dish. The Pinot also paired well with the next course; roasted Half Moon Bay sole with local mousserone mushrooms, fiddlehead ferns and garden chives. The fish was cooked perfectly but the star in the dish was the mushrooms. Mousserone, also called "fairy rings'', are wild mushrooms that sprout in the spring and summer on the West coast. They are similar in flavor to porcinis, but have a more nuanced earthiness and a floral flavor that pairs well with the Pinot. We ended our meal with a sponge cake with Sonoma strawberries, lemon curd chantilly cream and marigold petals. It was light and delicious and helped cleanse the dank and dirt from the mushrooms and natural wine. Boonville Hotel Restaurant was our best meal of the entire trip and the staff was super friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to go back during harvest season for a completely different menu with a full range of fall produce. They serve a 4 course meal on Thursday, Sunday, and Monday and a 5 course meal on Friday and Saturday nights as well as a la carte lunches on Sunday from noon until 2 pm. They have a fabulous wine list featuring local wines but you are more than welcome to open your own bottle for a $20 corkage fee. What a wonderful experience. Heard through the grapevine that they were serving dinners indoors. We called and they informed me that it would be a prix-fixe menu and that they had tables set up throughout the hotel in separate rooms. It was so cozy and actually seemed to work really well. The food and service were amazing! I would love to come back. I feel like the whole Mendocino area seems like they are overreacting a bit by the extreme measures in place to prevent covid. This establishment was entirely appropriate taking all precautions yet not impinging on my guest experience. You can do both. It was a perfect late summer night to eat outside so we did. That definitely helped create the vibe of evening but everything from the lasagna to even the salad was incredible. I forgot servers name but she was great. I hear it's hard to get a brake without a reservation so definitely call in I'm not sure if they even accept walk ins. My boyfriend and I booked a stay for our birthday getaway and we could not have had a better experience! The staff was friendly and helpful regarding restaurant recommendations since most things are closed on Tuesday's and Wednesday's . Our room was adorable and clean, we stayed in room #1 with a super cool balcony. It felt like everyone went above and beyond to make us feel safe in this pandemic. Breakfast was delivered to our room where staff knocked and swiftly left to avoid contact. It definitely has a mom and pop feel. We were literally the only people staying in the hotel on our last night and the bartender was kind enough to introduce himself and say goodnight before he went home. Breakfast in the morning was absolutely beautiful! It's clear that whoever does the cooking puts love into it. This is such a peaceful oasis, it's definitely the most relaxed I've felt this whole crazy year. The only thing that bummed me out was that we were able to make a dinner reservation online before our visit when the restaurant was actually closed the two nights we were staying (I heard so many great things!) ... next time :) Thanks for such a wonderful time! read more

We visited the Boonville Hotel with 2 friends of ours this week. I had heard exceptional things about the restaurant so I was very excited to visit. Upon arrival we were struck by this historic and charming hotel and its lovely grounds. We had an exceptional meal at the restaurant that evening - each course was bursting with flavor and color and we all agreed we thought the food was excellent despite all of us having varying degrees of food preferences. Service - from the time we arrived the service was not on point. Our check-in experience was fine but we were not told that there would be no daily room service to make up our beds/freshen towels etc. That in itself was not a big issue, however, I would think it appropriate to mention. Also, despite being on the property for 2 days and sitting out in the grounds as well as in the living room in the evenings, we were never once approached by any of the staff members to ask if we needed anything. We went to the bar and did self service for all beverages and 20% was added automatically to everything. On our 2nd evening we had a reservation for 7 p.m. and despite being hotel guests, we were told upon seating that our main courses would not be the pre-advertised lamb but we would be having beef - as in the leftovers from the night before... they simply ran out of their main course protein by 7 p.m. The food that evening was the opposite of the night before. To start, a bowl full of lettuce leaves in a completely flavorless dressing or olive oil, followed by anchovies which appeared to be out of a can, followed by a very cold main course. Desert was a combo the night's before chocolate cake and cherries with a scoop of ice cream. At no point did our servers explain what they were dropping on the table or ask us how our food was. We brought a bottle of wine and our server dropped a wine key on our table but did not ask us if we would like it opened - there is a $20 corkage fee + 20% gratuity on top. Dinner runs baseline at $58 per person - not impressed. Ohh and at check out, we see we got another $10 per day 'service charge' despite there being little to no service to speak of. We paid over $500 for 2 nights in one of their smallest rooms which had no place to store any clothes with the exception of a tiny slit in the wall with 4 hangers. Not even a tiny chest of drawers for storing other items of clothing. The room was also very hot. One window had a bug screen, the other did not and the one that did have the screen slammed shut after being open for a while in the middle of the night. The room had no AC - it's an older hotel and 'cheaper' room but fix the screen and window issue at least. It is a gorgeous location and a charming property however, the overall lack of engagement, service, food consistency, communication and friendliness sadly left a lasting impression and we will not be returning. read more

We were so looking forward to celebrating a birthday at the Saturday night prix fix menu. We had eaten at the bar the previous night which serves food from 4-6pm and had excellent food and service. We were seated in a room with 3 tables which was nice enough. Where it fell short were the diners at the next table. Two adults and two children proceeded to get up and down from their table. The children were loud and ran back and forth to the table. We finally asked to be moved which the manager did. When we inquired about the other tables behavior being acceptable for the restaurant the manager replied "they come here a lot". Making it seem the restaurant is fine with poor behavior if the diner is a regular. I wonder if the restaurant charged the children $125 per plate. It is totally unacceptable to me to pay over $600 for three dinners and have that experience. The food was delicious however the experience was not up to par with a nice dining experience. Might sometime return for their bar bites from 4-6pm but will not return for the prix fix menus. read more

There are some things in life that cannot be anticipated ahead of time but that, in retrospect, appear all but inescapable, appropriate, and utterly - utterly - right. An afternoon, evening, and early morning spent at the Boonville Hotel can be like all of that sometimes. At least it was for me. Truth be told, I thought that I knew the hotel pretty darn well from previous stays. What more was there really left to learn? How awesome the rooms are? How welcoming the staff can be with local tips and ideas for enjoying your visit to the area? The beauty and restfulness of the gardens? The top notch breakfasts and tea service? No, these were all "known knowns." I had experienced them before. But I did not anticipate the kittens and cats who entertained us with their antics and distracted us from the latest news out of Washington DC. I had forgotten how good locally made apple juice tastes, or of the way that a pair of cheese biscuits (still warm from the oven), hard boiled farm eggs, salt, spicy pimenton (Piment d'Ville, made with locally grown Espelette chiles) and a cup or two of freshly roasted coffee (from Black Oak Roasters in Ukiah) can make a truly memorable morning meal. I did not plan on sleeping so deeply or for so long. I had not expected to be so enchanted by the sound of heavy morning rain accompanied by Spanish guitar music and a steaming cup of jasmine pearls green tea. Typically when spending a single night in a hotel, I am eager to move on. To get an early sunrise start. To hit the open road. To drive off into the unknown once more. But here - and perhaps only here - I am inclined to linger. To brew a second cup of tea. To walk just one more time through the flower, herb, and vegetable gardens. To take yet another picture of the cats. To let the rains fall and curl up a little more tightly underneath the warmth of a soft blanket. How many other hotels do you know that are capable of causing such deeply real and authentically emotional human reactions? This may not be precisely why I travel so widely and seek out unique places to bed down for the night like the Boonville Hotel. But I think it comes pretty close. read more

Best Restaurant in Booneville? Yes, it has to be. Perhaps the most charming hotel that I have encountered in a long time, a sharp contrast to my ultra modern trendy hotels and oh so refreshing! At 7:45PM on a Friday evening, the restaurant was packed. We sat near a window which overlooked the outside back patio with an endearing apple tree, lined with lovely garden lights. Ordered the following with comments: 1. Mussels - fresh and broth was delicious. The mussels were decent-sized and I was pleased that the broth was not salty. 2. Halibut - Good fish should stand in its own. The served halibut had too many things going on. Rice, sauces, etc. I would have preferred a lightly seasoned fish with just a small side dish. It was too heavy for me. 3. Kahlua chocolate pot de creme - not enough punch to make me go wow. I thought it was rather boring. The affogato is definitely better. The service was choppy at times, but everyone had a friendly attitude so it was soon forgotten. Meal and wine bottle prices were reasonable. A big PLUS. This is absolutely one of our favorite spots in Anderson Valley. We have dined here many times in the past and have always been impressed by the quality of ingredients used by the kitchen, and the friendly staff that work throughout the hotel and restaurant. The owners are incredibly generous and welcoming to all guests, as is the chef. We recently stayed in the new Tower Up building and I highly recommend it. It is well apportioned and was extremely comfortable. During Covid, they have adapted quite well to making sure that everyone feels safe -- for example, they deliver your breakfast to your door with a full pot of French press coffee and delicious home-cooked biscuits, scones, and other yummy treats. Dinner is also brought to your room and is not to be missed!! We look forward to returning and seeing our friends at the Boonville Hotel soon! read more

Wife and I stayed at this historic hotel on a recent vacation. Two ways to look at this place. Strictly for what you get for what you pay, it's not a bargain. The room was small, no TV, a simple bathroom with no door so easy to hear sounds from the toilet in the main room. For us, this totally the point. We absolutely loved this charming, rustic interior of our room and the way they cleverly use the outdoor to create a cozy outdoor environment. The hotel blends seamlessly with the surrounding farm/wine country. Our two days at the Boonville in was a completely unique, enjoyable experience. So if you're looking for a functional room at a good price, this is not the place for you. But if you want to experience Mendocino County in an intimate way, this is the place to stay. read more

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. It's a sweet bed and breakfast style located in Anderson Valley. Definitely a place built for connection with others. There are not tv's or other electronics in the room. There is wifi but their pamphlets in the room don't include the password. I would suggest to include this in the future to make it easier on your guests. However they do include wine glasses, water, a nice tray/cutting board, and a multi tool with a wine bottle opener. The first time I stayed we stayed in the main hotel room and it was nice basically the classic hotel style. The second time I stayed in the side room. It has cool stained glass detailing, interesting light fixtures, and is in its own little space. The bathroom shower curtain doesn't quite reach the floor and make the bathroom a bit wet after showering. There is a radiator and a thermostat but we had some trouble working the heater on the thermostat at first it worked and then it got bit finicky. I would say this room would be better for the summer rather than late October since it was a bit chilly and had mostly glass doors and a tin roof which is not so great at keeping the heat in. The property itself is great! There are lots of tables and chairs in a garden like atmosphere. You can sit out and enjoy a glass of wine or have a cup of tea and read through some books. Their complimentary breakfast is delightful with delicious scones, eggs, yogurt, granola, apples, fresh brewed coffee, and apple cider. We also had dinner at the restaurant which the chef had founded french laundry. We had 4 courses a lovely charred Zuchinni salad with basil, dried figs, and pickled onions, a mushroom soup with noodles, fried cod on top of a peanut sauce, and a delicious pecan cake with cream anglaise. There are also a lot of attractions within walking distance for some wine tasting or shopping. Also plenty of farms, wine tasting, and hikes within driving distance. The Boonville hotel is a place you can come to and relax which is low key and representative of old school California wine culture without being pretentious. read more

Every time I stay here, it's like walking into a Sundance Catalogue. I almost expect to see Robert Redford himself emerge early one morning from the Casita guesthouse and ask how I am enjoying my visit to Anderson Valley. Especially in midsummer, the action shifts outdoors to the gardens, the orange trumpet vine encrusted pagoda, and the courtyard, where you can dine on expertly prepared paella every Sunday starting at 6:30pm (bar service begins at 5:30pm with small plates like oysters available) The paella is cooked using a traditional pan placed over an almond wood and oak fire. You can pair your meal with either local or European wines, or craft beer, hard cider, or non-alcoholic beverages. Wood fired pizzas and other delectable dishes are prepared Thursday through Monday and are open to all by prior reservations, not just to hotel guests. The current chef, Perry H., comes with Michelin star credentials earned in South Korea and Napa Valley - at Domain Chandon - before the restaurant was closed in 2014. He also was in charge of the kitchen at Headsburg's much adored locavore-centric cafe, The Shed, for several years before it, too, shuttered its doors to the public. Yes, the fine dining business can be excessively and destructively competitive at times and stressful to its staff, who burn out at rates far too high for people of such talent, drive, and passion. Sometimes a Michelin star means "stay away!" and not "eat here, no matter what it might cost." Fortunately, personal connections led Chef Perry and his small but growing family back to Anderson Valley, where things happen at a slower pace and there are fewer covers to turn over in any given night. This translates into more freedom to cook what is fresh and local and mix things up on short notice when an appealing seasonal food item becomes available. In addition to sourcing fish, shellfish, pastured meats, eggs, and mushrooms from local Mendocino purveyors of top-quality products, Table 128, as the hotel's restaurant is called (after the highway, CA-128, that runs through town), also makes ample use of the fragrant herbs, edible flowers, ripe fruits, and organic vegetables grown on the hotel's lushly landscaped grounds. The multi-course menus (typical meals range from about $35 to $65 per person depending on the number and type of dishes being served) are inspired and intellectual without being too precious or pretentious about them. They are posted online about a week ahead of time, so you can plan ahead if you'd like to dine here or at another Anderson Valley farm-to-table favorite, such as The Bewildered Pig. Breakfast service for guests starts around 8:30am. Self service, it is a leisurely way to start the morning and invites you to linger over fresh farm eggs, warm scones, sliced local strawberries, and granola with yogurt made on site. Coffee is from Black Oak Coffee Roasters in Ukiah and loose leaf teas are from the Jasmine Pearl Tea Company, in Portland, Oregon. While it isn't a luxury resort like those in Sonoma or Napa, you would be hard pressed to find somewhere to spend the night that is as quietly and radiantly rapturous as the Boonville Hotel. It may not roll off the tongue with a foreign sounding flair like Auberge de Soleil, or sound as nice to pronounce as "Sundance," but that's the way things work around these parts. The best places are always hidden in plain sight at the exact spot where you least expect to find them. If you want to do Anderson Valley right, I recommend that you plan ahead and reserve a room and dinner table here before you leave. We stayed at the Boonville Hotel for a night several weeks back. The ambience of the hotel was incredible and we loved it right off the bat. We stayed in one of the rooms in the back which was great although it rained for a portion of our stay, so we didn't get to fully enjoy the patio. We also had the dinner on Saturday night and while the dinner itself was great and the food quality was top notch, I felt things were pretty overpriced so I drop it a star. read more

During Mendocino County Fair days, we spent two nights at the hotel. Accompanying us were another couple + a couple of sisters, six people in all. We loved the place; the rooms were very confortable; the food out of this world and most importantly, the service absolutely excellent. We particularly single out Terry at the bar and Vivian for food service out last nite there. As I told Ron on our way out, friend Bruce and I wanted to honor the female side of our group with a surprised B-day cake, this at the last minute. Told Ron I rested comfortably as the staff there just give you the feeling they will pull off kinda out of the ordinary requests. Sure enough, they nailed it that last nite there. Absolutely incredible meal, gorgeous setting, and gracious service. Was so nice we came back the evening after doing the prix fixe to have a glass of wine and some small plates. A real highlight of our trip, and so wonderful we might have to make a trip down just to come here (and try staying at the hotel). read more

What a special place the Boonville Hotel is! This incredibly charming and craftsman hotel is the perfect romantic getaway. All of the rooms, individually designed and crafted, offer cozy privacy, but steps away you can go to the main house to play games, drink wine and enjoy the beautiful outdoor garden. The food here is outstanding! In the morning they set up breakfast with homemade granola, fresh fruits, hard boiled with piment d'ville pepper and usually a speciality item (the frittata is to die for!). We always do dinner one night at table 128 and it is always spectacular. Menu decided that week based off local ingredients and what's in season, the 3 course pre-fix never disappoints. This was our first tradition to come annually and we love it - we even got engaged here!! Boonville hotel will always hold such a special place in my heart and can't wait for our next trip! read more

During COVID I drove, on a whim, over the hill and onto new backroads. When I spilled out into boonville, I was hungry. Saw the restaurant. Went in. No reservation, but they were able to seat me on the patio under a fruiting Apple tree! As a single, I appreciated that they did not shuffle me off to the side, but instead put me amongst the people. The ambiance was exquisite. Great music, lighting, and grounds rolling with gardens and flowers. It was A pris fix meal, and not ready yet, so I strolled and chatted, socially distanced, with guests. The wait staff was attentive. The food was superb. Delicious. I had left overs to enjoy the next day. A lovely, unexpected experience. Thank you. read more

Do not let the name fool you. This is certainly not a hotel, even though their prices are equivalent to a high end one. The staff was not friendly and my stay not comfortable at all. For $200 a room, I would expect at least a moderate level of comfort and service. I received neither. This place has a great location and you certainly are paying a premium for that. Just go camping, you'll save a lot of money doing so! read more
