Nice store with a good layout. There are a few good salespeople but many aren't trained properly for retail. Management (when viewed working up front) was seen ignoring customers wanting to checkout so they could restock bags behind the counter. They didn't even acknowledge them - at least the woman I saw didn't. Three workers were viewed standing behind the counter when I walked in - totally ignored me. I was surprised at this and said hello loudly while I approached them and one young lady even turned away from me. So I called her out on it. She turned out to be friendly, and turned her attention to me when I said HELLO, even though I clearly came in for a return. Such poor training. Western Wear isn't Target or Walmart. It's special, it's pricey. So go ahead, management, train the staff to be excellent salespeople and have them walk out your door with lots of product and glowing reviews. When I brought in my return, I asked if someone could assist me this time. They had a wonderful person spend several minutes helping me find jeans. Unfortunately, they turned out to be way too long. Neither of us thought about the fact that they dragged the floor in my flip flops. But when I return, I'm buying two pair, because I love these jeans! Like I said, a few (very few) good salespeople. Worst customer service ever! Came during the week to avoid the weekend rush and it wasn't much better. Asked for help and the girl on the floor was helping another lady. She couldn't step away for a minute to answer my question while her customer was trying on boots. She also didn't bother calling for someone else to come help me. Decided to place an order online and delivered to the store. Came to pick up my order and waited 20 minutes at the register to get help. Boots arrived scratched! Waste of time coming to this store. No one approached me and asked if I needed any help, Gabriela was my cashier and I gave her my phone number so I can earn my rewards. She did not verify if my account was pulled up. I proceeded to pay and I took a look at my receipt and noticed my reward number was no where on my receipt. Now I won't be getting my points for this purchase due to Gabriela's lack of attention. This is an older location and although the building is clearly not well-maintained, there were plenty of choices to look at, not only in boots, but clothing and hats. It looked as if there were 100-200 styles of boot in every size. Employees were friendly and attentive. During my 1.5 hour visit to look at boots, several employees checked in to see if I needed help. Some offered advice on heel types and waxed vs non-waxed leather. read more

I was so dissatisfied with the customer service I received yesterday. I went in looking for Ariat Fat Baby style women's boots. I had never shopped there before and hadn't bought Western boots in 40 years. The employee I encountered that worked in that dept was down right rude. I explained what I needed and he took me to the children's section. I said no, and again told him what I was looking for. He said he would go to the back and check. He then came out and told me to ask anyone in the store that they didn't carry them. Wow.. Maybe they should check their internet pages. I ended up at Cavender's in and out with my boots in 10 min. Ordered jeans from Shepler (Levi) to get the style and size I wanted. Shepler offered pick up at Boot Barn which included a 25 buck coupon. I am in need of shirts, boots, hat, belt so thought I would take them up on the offer....mistake! Traffic was terrible on the 30 and 635 around the mall and should have taken the back way so no problem. Was greeted when I came in and asked a few times if I needed help shopping. Dean (a sales person) was helpful and pleasant with every request. Then came checkout, I think her name was Melany or melody...unacceptable beyond belief. My 5 year old granddaughter has a stronger voice and can enunciate her words better. She was wearing a mask, behind plexiglass and 3 or 4 feet away. I had to ask her 3 times what she was trying to communicate and it obviously pissed her off. She was shaking her head so then asked if she was upset she had to repeat herself...."I had to say it 5 times!" Gee better have a seat and rest after all that! Then she could not manage to correctly input a coupon (from Sheplers purchase) and had to call over help. I don't need too be treated like that! I still need more merchandise but I'm certainly not going back! read more

The store clerks are great especially the one who works in the hat section. the only bad thing with boot barn is their customer support people. They could not answer my question about the reward points. They only direct you to the website. All I wanted to know is if I could use my points towards lowering my account balance but the person couldn't answer me and kept repeating themselves. How can you work for a company and not know anything about it besides telling people to go to the website to find your answers. read more

My husband and I were just there looking for work boots for him. He needed 9.5 w water proof steel toe which ended up being very hard to find. We did have employees try and help us but unfortunately MANY of the boots were mislabeled so anytime we thought we found something that would work, they ended up being the same size. I get mistakes happen but there were way too many pairs that were mislabeled which makes it look more like carelessness rather than just an honest mistake. Also their bathrooms were DISGUSTING! I had to go through every stall before finding one that was even half ass acceptable. Idk whose job it is to keep the bathroom clean, but they are not doing it... read more

Was really disappointed in the service I received about a month ago. Went in there with my daughter and not only was I never offered help in the hour I was there but it seemed as though one of the employees was just watching me when I was in the hat area, as if he thought I might try to bolt out the door with my toddler in hand. Decided on a nice set of Ariat boots and a hat and at no time was I offered help as I struggled to make my way to the register with my daughter in tow. I had to find someone to ask for a box for the boots as everyone seemed on their way somewhere except assisting anyone as there were hardly any cutomers there. Now I could excuse the lack of attention if it was a busy night, but this was on a Tuesday afternoon before Thanksgiving. The cherry on top was after the cashier asked if anyone helped me(which I replied no) she failed to take the security sensor sensor off one of the boots so I had to make another trip back there to get it off. read more

Recently switched from a Sheplers to a Boot Barn and MAN is it a loss for customers! They did away with the big seating area where people not shopping could relax and wait instead of rushing the shopper(s) to finish. Seems only non-popular sizes were on sale, but that could just be because I wear the most popular female size and there were zero sales for me. We had to scour the entire store to find an employee for assistance, which is a turnaround from Sheplers where there were always people to help. The last straw? Boot barn has very poor unprofessional people and a girl that is always on the registered kind of chunky light skinned is very rude does not greet people and if you ask her a question she will hesitate.... and when you need assistance there's no one around to ask and if there's someone passing by they will ignore you and just leave you there. Not impressed at all with customer service. It was so much better when it was Sheplers. I was not welcomed to the store, nor were they busy. I was there for an hour trying on hats, and not one pergson asked me if they could help me. Several staff just walked right by me. Finally I started to walked toward the back, and I ran straight into someone I believe may have been a manager. I stopped her to asked her about two hats I had narrowed it down to, that I wanted to buy, but that neither style had my size for. She was actually very nice and very helpful. I'm supposed to call back today to talk to the guy who shapes hats to see if he can help me with the two I want to buy. The overall experience was just extremely disappointing. I'm from this area in Texas originally, however, the military took me to California some years back. Boot Barn was, believe it or not, born in California in the area I reside now, so you can imagine my shock when they apparently have swept the southern regions, and even took over a Sheplers I shopped at for 30 years here in Mesquite, but I can tell ya with a very sad heart...lol...California ain't got nothin' on hospitality in Texas, UNTIL the Boot Barn they opened here!! Boot Barns in California are the nicest friendliest places you wanna visit. Always reminds me of back home Southern hospitality! Do ya'll see the the irony in all this!?!
