Columbia has a SOLID Texas style BBQ joint...Boot Stompin' BBQ. It was late afternoon when I arrived and Bobby (Pitmaster) warmly greeted me and we started talking about BBQ. I like to sample a variety, so I went with the Bobby's Usual of brisket, jalapeño cheddar sausage, and pulled pork with Bobo's Hot Corn + Hillbilly Beans. He offered onions, pickles, and jalapeños as side condiments along with their homemade BBQ sauce. I initially sampled the meats without sauce, but I have to say the sweet/smoky flavor of the sauce is a great compliment to the meats. You can tell Bobby learned his trade from Texas...solid brisket with a thin fat cap with a nice peppery crust. The pulled pork was perfect...moist and tender but still maintaining firmness. While the sausage is not made in-house, you could have fooled me. Nice crispy skin with a good jalapeño kick and plenty of cheese. The sides are exceptional! I loved the sweetness of the beans, and the Bobo Corn (I believe it's grandma's recipe) was addicting. Don't let the name fool you...there's a little heat, but the flavors are wonderful. I chopped a bit of onion and pork into the beans, a great flavor combination. The atmosphere is bright and open with some Texas decor...great place for family. Really good food and excellent service from this TX style BBQ spot...looking forward to my next visit to Columbia for more. read more

Stopped by for some local BBQ. It was fantastic! We tried both the brisket and the pulled pork in sandwich form. The brisket wasn't full Texas brisket but was pretty close and was some of the best I've had here locally. The pulled pork also was pretty good - better than other local competition so far. The corn side and baked beans were also delectable. The staff was very pleasant and helped with recommendations as well! Will absolutely be back. This place is awesome! I got the Pulled Pork Sandwich and it was very delicious! The bbq sauce that they give you on the side was perfect! Sweet, Smokey, perfect! The workers were extremely polite, the owner came and brought my picky eating sister a sample of their brisket and we ended up buying her a whole serving of it because she loved it so much (mind you she will basically only eat pickles and grilled cheeses). I also love that they play some good country music! After we ate that we went and got some delicious HOMEMADE ice cream at the balloon shop right next door! You have to try the peach ice cream! This location is very pretty and not too far from the square. I think that it is safe to say that we will be back sometime. read more

Tried this place out for the first time. Once you find them on the backside of the art building then you're in for a real treat. Had the brisket chopped sandwich with two sides. Killer Beans and Hot Corn. The Killer beans is their take on BBQ baked beans, very tasty. They are sweet and have a great smoky flavor. Then the Hot corn, mainly because they have diced up fresh jalapeño in it but it is their take on a southern crème corn. Man have they got it down on these sides. Both were spot on and lots of flavor. Brisket is chopped (I prefer sliced) with a good smoke flavor but not over powering that you loose the taste of the beef. My sandwich was good today, lean but a little over done for my tastes but still good enough to NOT leave any bit behind!!! They serve their sauce in the side. This is a sweet red sauce, nice and thick. Very good, enough to use the bun to wipe out the small container it is served in. They had tacos, baked potatoes, and two different serving flavors of nachos. So plenty of choices to go around and come back several times to try each item out. Wash this all down with fresh brewed southern sweet tea. All I can say is I will be back!!! read more

This place is a MUST if you're in the area! I was in town visiting family and up north we have nothing like real Texas barbecue. The brisket was phenomenal (I know because I have family in San Antonio). It was perfectly cooked with tons of burnt ends and just so delicious. This was our second time to the meat social. It did not disappoint. From the friendliest staff to the deliciously smoked entrees. We got the social nachos which was a hit for my kids.
