What a dump... Where do I start...how about at the register. So I asked the girl working, if their brisket was good (I assumed beef on the menu was brisket..I was so wrong). I'll say the sides were the highlight of this "tray". The cashier was clueless and should probably just clean tables. Follow to understand why.. Took probably 10 minutes, which seemed like a long time since the place was empty at 1:30 on a Saturday. We sat..at a grease covered table...which they all were greasy, so no moving. So the cashier girl SHOULD be cleaning tables. Maybe she was in charge of that. So you don't eat meat, can't recommend anything and you let the 5 tables just remain slick and gross all day??? Food arrived. Let's get the only highlight out if the way....the sides were really good. I had a little hope for the rest of it..oh I'm so foolishly. But I came for brisket, which turned out to be some near cold, in juice stringy beef pile. Um...where are my slices of smoked brisket? It's pulled beef. Or sure what part of the cow it came from. Four people recommended lunch special (loaded half potato with medium drink), The splayed baked potato was dressed in shredded pulled pork, bacon bits, cheddar cheese, sour cream with barbecue sauce on the side. Beware if your buying lbs of meat from them they don't give you what you're paying for and have shorted every person that's ordered lbs of meat from them. We ordered 3.5lbs of bbq for a party we were having and when we got home and looked at it it didn't look like 3.5lbs so I decided to weigh it. It was 2.13lbs they were closed for the weekend so I messaged them. They responded and said they sell by volume not weight ( even though their menu says 1lb and 1/2 lb ) and sent me a screenshot of a google definition of weight and volume. I reached out to a few local bbq places to see if this was common practice (like they said it was ) and it's not so if you want your moneys worth go to a different place. This place came recommended by our Airbnb owner and it did not disappoint ! Lovely welcoming staff and a clean inside area to sit. There are also benches on the deck. The kids had a pulled pork sandwich and my usual sullen, hard to please 14 year old exclaimed it was the best he'd ever had then went right back to his phone. We have lived in Columbia for 10+ years and it's not hard to find barbeque here. We like JJ's because they have options for that rare individual (like my husband) who wants something different. They have chicken wings, meatloaf, and sloppy joes along with the classic pulled pork, smoked turkey, and smoked brisket, and ribs. All of it is good. I recommend the baked potato topped with your choice of meat. Half of one is probably plenty for most people. The sides are also delicious; I recommend the cheesy potatoes and baked beans. Lots of places have 3/4 of JJ's menu. It's the extra variety that makes it worth stopping in. read more

I was in the mood for a loaded baked potato and this place has the best. I ordered it with Turkey bbq and it was very good. They are highly rated on their ribs. One day soon I will have to save up enough calories to order the ribs. You can also order half a baked potato with anything on it for days when you aren't hungry enough for a whole one. Super clean, super friendly staff. The sides were really good as was the turkey bbq platter. Would have loved to give this place another star or two but the half rack of ribs fell a little short. The taste was there but it seemed like they had been reheated - and from the temperature and toughness on the outside I'm thinking microwave, which if they're using a microwave to reheat their ribs that's a deal breaker. I was referred here by a coworker and was not disappointed! The half loaded potato was the perfect size for lunch with a generous amount of toppings, without becoming overly oily. I had the pulled pork with it and it was tasty and not dry at all. The bbq sauce was also very good with a smoky sweet taste. Oh, and you can't forget the fruit tea!
