Oh Bootcamp Republic, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...Yes, these classes are so great, they bring out my inner Shakespeare. I've completed several sessions and they've all been fantastic. Since I've been doing this now for a few years, I've had the pleasure of meeting many of the trainers, all of whom are consummate professionals whose only focus is to help their clients achieve personal goals -- whether it's shedding weight, increasing stamina, building endurance, etc. Regardless of class size, I've always received individual attention and was trained based on my abilities and never treated as a nameless recruit. Despite it's name, this isn't a "Drop down and give me 50!" type situation, although you will get a through and challenging work out and feel sore, which is a good thing. No matter your fitness level, you will work out within your limits, and will never feel like you're being pushed too far or feel inferior to the person next to you who may be Ms. Triathlon of the Year or Mr. Muscles. Every session comprehensively targets muscle groups and is a great combination of cardio and strength training. Best of all, every single time it's different, so it doesn't get boring or repetitive. After three weeks, you WILL feel and see results...and then comeback for more, as I have done. The camaraderie that inevitably builds between the trainer and the students is also something that inspires you to keep going, and one of my favorite things about doing this. One other thing that must be mentioned is location: they have so many, it's way more convenient that any gym. There's nothing more serene and invigorating than working out in a park with your new friends. Not only that, you can pretty much find a Bootcamp near you at any time of the day. Also, they're super accommodating in the event you need to reschedule a class because of a last - minute work meeting or personal emergency. All in all, the trainers, the classes, the locations, the times...this is an incredible deal any way you slice it. i'm a huge fan of bootcamp republic! i have been attending courtney's sessions since last august (including his saturday add-on class) and can't say enough about him as an instructor -- he's motivational, encouraging, and he has that knack for kicking your butt and making you like it! it's a delicate balance but he is great at it. he's very open to client requests if there's a particular part of your body you want to focus on for part of the workout, or if you're dealing with a previous injury. i have also worked with one of their nutritional consultants (jenna) and got great direction and advice on healthy eating and food in general. i have definitely made some permanent changes in the way i eat and the way i think about food. the customer service for bootcamp republic is absolutely top notch. it's obvious that serena is truly dedicated to her business and her clients, as evidenced by the customer loyalty program and her willingness to work with clients on whatever concerns or needs they might have. since starting bootcamp republic, i feel stronger, i sleep better at night, and i just feel a lot better in general. even on those days when i feel drained from work and i think i won't make it, it only takes a few minutes before i'm totally lost in the workout and have forgotten whatever i was stressed about before i got there. it's the only exercise program i've been excited about enough to stick with, and i will definitely keep coming back. read more

This is my second year of signing up for bootcamps and I tend to rotate between a few trainers (I should mention that for me it is more about time/location than the specific trainer per se). I took the in-door winter sessions with Ngozi who has such a great energy, pushes you to reach your personal limit and what I appreciate most--she remembers everyone's name/face by the end of the first class. I can also recommend classes Whitney and Tanya (love the Australian accent!). Weather can sometimes be unpredictable in NYC in Spring and the trainers/coordinators always responsive at keeping us abreast of any rain outs. It's never a big deal. I love the fact there is a free Sunday class (for weather make ups or anyone in need of an extra work out.) From a work out perspective, it's a great way to supplement your existing cardiovascular fitness regiment. I tend to run a couple days on my own and use bootcamp as a way to work on my arms, abs, legs--I hate doing squats, lunges, dips, push ups, sit ups--so it is a great way to motivate me to work on my weaknesses. My arms are definitely more tone and my abs more flat than when I work out just on my own. My only critique is that I would like to see a Tuesday-Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. class on the UWS during the summer months. This is definitely a great fitness program for someone who wants to get fit without the heavy burden of $75/an hour rate for personal training. read more

I've taken 2 outdoor summer bootcamp sessions and 2 indoor fall sessions all with the same instructor. I will definitely be signing up for the next one this coming winter. I was looking for something to be part of my exercise routine that would challenge me to push myself and found it with this bootcamp. It is definitely challenging but not to the point where you feel defeated, which was my initial apprehension about taking a bootcamp. I like that each circuit is done according to time rather than number of reps, so that you can go at whatever pace is suited to your fitness level and ramp it up as you get stronger. I have seen my fitness level improve since having started. The instructor is well prepared for each class and I feel like I get the maximum out of each session. read more

Bootcamp has been a great way for me to change up my routine and get back into the swing of things before the summer. I just started my second session and not a single one of my classes have been the same, which helps to keep things interesting. Plus, all of the exercises are so practical I can do them on my own too. Also, the range of fitness levels is wide, so there is no need to be intimidated! In addition to the two weekday classes, they also offer a Sunday session that is an added bonus and allows you can also check out different trainers. Courtney is awesome, and I've also had one class each with Ngozi, Holly and Tonya -- all are great! Now, I just wish more people would sign up for the Brooklyn classes so I can have more options closer to home vs. work:) read more

I started BR at the beginning of the year for the indoor sessions. They do a fitness test on the first day and last day and the difference was insane. I'm definitely stronger and have more energy than I used to. I will say Courtney Paul is one of the best trainers you'll find. Not only does he kick your butt but you're still smiling afterwards. He has tons of energy that gets you motivated even when you're not motivated to be motivated. He stays after class to answer any questions you have, he'll ask you what your routine is and give you nutrition advice based on your lifestyle, he tells you what to do on your non-boot camp days and keep tabs on you. He doesn't intimidate you but he definitely won't let you be a slacker. read more

I am just ending my first 3 week session with Bootcamp Republic. I highly recommend signing up for their next session. I am so anti working out, but this class has definitely got me hooked on getting into shape. The other members in my class were at different fitness levels (much higher than mine) but the trainers are so good that they are able to push each person to their max. I train with Ngozi in her morning classes, she is pretty hard core but in the best way. I am signing up for the next 3 week session and plan on continuing it through the summer. I haven't tried the free classes on Sunday yet, but plan on going. I hear they are great. read more

I love this boot camp. I am starting my third session and can't imagine achieving what I did without it. My goal was to lose weight and increase my strength and it worked wonders. The classes are geared towards any fitness level. The trainers give you three levels for one exercise so you pick what works best for you. I've found this helpful to also gauge my physical improvement. I'd recommend this class to any who wants to get outdoors, lose weight, improve speed, improve strength or just needs a little motivation. All the trainers I've worked with have been solid, but I register for Courtney's classes, he's fantastic. read more

Iv Been a regular bootcamper since April 2010. It is the most AMAZING workout you will ever get. Even though they have locations all over new york i work out in Brooklyn at the prospect park site. The trainer is Nicole. Not only is she fun, but she works you really hard without being mean or overzealous. The 90min pass by really quickly and after only a 3 week session you definetly notice results. I LOVE THEM!!!!! Boot camp in Central Park is better than my personal trainer! I just couldn't reach my goals with personal trainers or get myself to the gym, so I decided to take these fitness classes for weight loss. This is by far the toughest workout ever. I really like the style of their outdoor classes and I never get bored. I took classes with different trainers and they are all great. I've dropped several pounds so far over a couple of sessions. I plan to stick with it. When nothing else worked for me, they somehow made me love exercise. I still cannot believe it myself! read more

This place is no joke. I've been to allot of bootcamps but this one was pretty hard. I work out regular and am in pretty good shape but my ability for heavy objects is weak. I struggled a little bit but was overall happy with the instructors. I would go back but I have to be mentally prepared to go. I tried this with a girlfriend and she had so much fun and really loved the trainers. Try it and see if this is your kinda thing. I am sure it is not for everyone. read more

I am hooked. I just signed up for my second session with Whitney. I like the group vibe; it's like being back in pre-season for high school/college sports, and it keeps me accountable. I was working out a lot on my own before joining in April, but Bootcamp has taken my endurance, strength, and toning to a whole new level. I am SO impressed with Bootcamp Republic! I have tried a variety of "workout options" throughout the City and find this to be the most organized, responsive, and thorough of them all. These guys are amazing! And, Gary (one of the trainers)...well, we all love him! I could tell such a difference after only one session! I joined BCR for one session, just to check it out. Great workout. If you are the type of person, like me, that needs an appointment to work out, then this is great for you. Plus, it's great motivation to be in a group. I did it last summer and it worked great for me. Granted, I let myself go all winter but started up again in March and can already see a difference. Plan on doing it through the summer. This boot camp is awesome! I'm still sweating, hah! I just took these boot camp classes in Central Park last month, the evening group at the South of the park. First of all, it was way harder than anything that I do in the gym on my own!!! Second, the energy was amazing. And third, I'm addicted.
