Nice store and set up. I purchased burgers and they were okay. The wagyu selection was huge although too pricey for my budget.

He gave the KC strip a 7 out 10. I loved the potato gratin that he ordered. Here's what I didn't like...the service was super slow even though the restaurant wasn't busy and the server didn't apologize for the delays. The ambiance is lacking. It definitely gives "I was formally a sports bar that was hap hazardly put together to try to pass off as an upscale restaurant." It feels cold and unwelcoming in a way. The music over head was barely audible adding to the sterile feel of the space. So bottom line for me, I liked the food well enough, but with the ambiance and service lacking, I won't return.

Several dishes were overly salted, and the Caesar salad was especially sad--wilted lettuce and lacking freshness. The restaurant was very crowded, but not adequately staffed to handle the volume. Service was slow throughout the night, and they ran out of items on the Restaurant Week menu. I was served melted sorbet and had to send it back. Our dinner took nearly three hours, largely due to long stretches of waiting to be served or checked on. Busy nights are understandable, but the lack of pacing and execution really took away from what could have been a much better experience. They had a jazz band playing which was a nice experience. If you go, ask for a table on the right. We were on the left side and about frozen every time the front doors opened, which was a lot while the band was bringing in their equipment.

Fritz's takes a blue ribbon for its $3 made and smoked in-house hot dog. Free sauerkraut, mustard, Dijon, BBQ sauce, and ketchup are available at the condiment table and other toppings are available for purchase, I added jalapeños and slivered onions for $1. A masterpiece on a soft but durable bun. I also bought a $5 pint of sausage "burnt ends" that I ate plain and mixed into a scrambled egg dish. The $8 whole smoked chicken was my wife and I's favorite chicken we've ever had. I'm sad that in Fritz's has been in operation 99 years and that I have never been in before this weekend. If you buy rotisserie chickens from the store, stop it and head to Fritz's.

While during most of the year, they do sell lunch, that's just not why most people go to Fritz's. They're renowned for their smoked meats. Around holidays they sell smoked turkeys, gravy, and- most importantly- their 3 sausage stuffing, which is a must for our holiday meals. It is delicious! It can get busy some mornings with people picking up, but I always see people getting helped fast, the line goes quickly. Pro tip: you don't have to be there right in the morning. Wait a couple hours and come in, you'll be fine. Year round, we're a fan of their breakfast burrito mix of meats- just cook it up with eggs and you have yourself a filling meal. Then there's the dog bones.... Altogether, this is a simple and unassuming place, a bit old fashioned, but very much solid.

On Saturdays they have a "live hoof" gathering in the parking lot. People bring in sheep, goats, cattle, etc and then the customers pick out which animal they want to buy/slaughter. They start this at 5AM, but I was told the line starts before 4AM because that they get the first pick of the animals for sale. Place was decorated with previous animals. Everything was clean and neatly organized. Great place!

The staff is so helpful and ready to cut anything the way you request or answer your questions. The facility is clean and smells of hickory. Always have a pound or two of bacon in the freezer and only go to this butcher for my meat and poultry needs. Please note, they only have land items, no fish or seafood.

They have all sorts of meat from beef to chicken and even sometimes rabbit. They also have eggs of different varieties including duck and turkey. They also have cheeses and charcuterie items. They have lots of pickled items. And even premade meals like pot pies, breakfast burritos, mac & cheese, and the last time I was in a stroganoff. In addition to food, they also have a few drink options like bottles of wine and beer. They even have dog food and dog treats. The store itself is decent sized. There's plenty of space for a few people to move around. They do have a large deli counter and a few coolers full of goodness. Service is always excellent. They are always helpful and can even offer suggestions if you don't know what to make with what. One of my go-tos are any one of their sausages. They have traditional ones plus a few fun ones. And if you watch their social media, they'll usually tell you when they have a limited addition one. The Rieger whiskey and apple sausage is one of my favorites. They also have a chicken curry sausage, which is excellent and has so much curry flavor. On my last visit I noticed that they have mac & cheese that you can take to go. They have a few different varieties, but I went with one with bacon because their bacon is always fantastic. It was a really good side. I slapped it on the grill to warm it up and it was delicious. Highly recommend. If you are in the city market area definitely stop in and check out what they have.
