Our dinner took nearly three hours, largely due to long stretches of waiting to be served or checked on. Busy nights are understandable, but the lack of pacing and execution really took away from what could have been a much better experience. They had a jazz band playing which was a nice experience. If you go, ask for a table on the right. We were on the left side and about frozen every time the front doors opened, which was a lot while the band was bringing in their equipment.

A masterpiece on a soft but durable bun. I also bought a $5 pint of sausage "burnt ends" that I ate plain and mixed into a scrambled egg dish. The $8 whole smoked chicken was my wife and I's favorite chicken we've ever had. I'm sad that in Fritz's has been in operation 99 years and that I have never been in before this weekend. If you buy rotisserie chickens from the store, stop it and head to Fritz's.

It can get busy some mornings with people picking up, but I always see people getting helped fast, the line goes quickly. Pro tip: you don't have to be there right in the morning. Wait a couple hours and come in, you'll be fine. Year round, we're a fan of their breakfast burrito mix of meats- just cook it up with eggs and you have yourself a filling meal. Then there's the dog bones.... Altogether, this is a simple and unassuming place, a bit old fashioned, but very much solid.

The staff is so helpful and ready to cut anything the way you request or answer your questions. The facility is clean and smells of hickory. In addition to food, they also have a few drink options like bottles of wine and beer. They even have dog food and dog treats. The store itself is decent sized. There's plenty of space for a few people to move around. They do have a large deli counter and a few coolers full of goodness. Service is always excellent. They are always helpful and can even offer suggestions if you don't know what to make with what. One of my go-tos are any one of their sausages. They have traditional ones plus a few fun ones. And if you watch their social media, they'll usually tell you when they have a limited addition one. The Rieger whiskey and apple sausage is one of my favorites. They also have a chicken curry sausage, which is excellent and has so much curry flavor. On my last visit I noticed that they have mac & cheese that you can take to go. They have a few different varieties, but I went with one with bacon because their bacon is always fantastic. It was a really good side. I slapped it on the grill to warm it up and it was delicious. Their meat selection is awesome and they can easily adapt to any request. Local pig/ Pigwhich moved to city market from the East bottoms over 5 years ago and expanded thier Local items to include cheese, wine, liquor, and a ton of other stuff. The staff are knowledgeable, patient, and friendly. The interior is bright, clean, well lit and well stocked.

They have old school service and smiles. Great meat, friendly butchers and the folks at the front are super. We buy Curley's BBQ sauce here. High quality meat here, cut to spec and they have bigger quantity value packs you can order ahead and fill the freezer. The building is old, but spotless. Love the HUGE selection of wood and pellets here. It's amazing!! Buy local. This is a neighborhood gem!!
