Happy Hour Menu on 5/23/2025

This was our first time to McGregor's so we had no idea what to expect. It's very unassuming when you pull up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Walking in you're greeted with a very moody vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hostess was very welcoming. We were able to make reservations online for 6:00 pm (earlier than we want to go to eat but when you have kids at home sometimes you have to take the early slots.) We arrived earlier than we expected so we sat at the bar to enjoy the remaining 30 minutes of Happy Hour where we enjoyed a glass of their house White. If you arrive before 7 on a Friday the crowd tends to be more of a mature age group. The place wasn't super busy but had a fair amount of people already enjoying dinner. One negative was the bartender lacked personality. When you sit at a bar you tend to expect a little conversation with the bartender. This one wasn't interested and barely made eye contact with us. He also charged us full price for our oysters instead of the happy hour price. Then the hostess said she would credit us back for the mistake and that never happened. The food was good. I enjoyed the Short Rib dinner. It was juicy and tender and served over mashed potatoes and a side of carrots. The carrots were cooked perfectly. My husband had the French Dip sandwich, also very good along with a side of Parmesan truffle fries. Our waitress was also not the most personable person. We felt she was a little disengaged. Overall the meal was enjoyable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The BEST part of our visit to McGregor's was at 7 they brought in live music. The vocalist was FANTASTIC! He calls himself the #latinLuther and that's the perfect way to describe himself. Very smooth and effortless voice[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Even though the food was good the entertainment is what would make us go back but, we would definitely go after 7 on a Friday. A little busier but more enjoyable and more memorable experiences.

If you haven't been to McGregor's Butcher and Bistro, you're missing out! This hidden gem offers an incredible dining experience with top-notch food, handcrafted cocktails, and even live entertainment every Friday--perfect for a date night! What we tried: Appetizers: The garlic butter steak bites and steak dorados were absolute standouts! Lobster bisque & fresh salad: Both fresh and flavorful Entrées: Duck breast - Cooked to perfection Steak Diane - A must-try! Bourbon pecan chicken - Rich, flavorful, and so satisfying And of course, we couldn't skip dessert! Lemon blueberry crumble - Sweet, tart, and heavenly Crème brûlée - Classic and flawlessly executed [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everything from the service to the ambiance was top-tier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plus, they have a butcher shop open during the day--perfect for grabbing premium cuts to cook at home. If you're looking for great food, live music, and an amazing atmosphere, put McGregor's on your list!

We went here for my birthday. The food was decent and I don't think there was much to complain about. My meal wasn't fully cooked correctly and they made it right. I would come back for another birthday dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean and the staff were friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Deviled Eggs

My mom and I dined at McGregor's for the first time during restaurant week. Having heard many good things about the restaurant, we were thrilled we could snag a reservation for 7:30 PM. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is sleek and modern.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We started with the deviled eggs and they were delicious! The bread and butter they offer is not something to skip over. The butter is made in-house and it's addicting. We each ordered off the restaurant week menu and all of our food was delicious. Our server was kind and helpful, and all servers helped to keep drinks full during this busy evening. I will definitely be back!

2 trips to McGregor's, I will talk about both. For my first dinner experience, I did not have much expectations since I did not know much about it. From the outside, it does not look like much. Inside, it gives off a upscale dinner feel with white table cloths and and a beautiful decor and bar. We each ordered a cocktail which were both very good. I wanted to try the Butcher's Special ROSEMARY & MUSHROOM CRUSTED PRIME RIB dinner which is what i ordered. Our server returned after a few minutes and said the Prime Rib was prepared Medium Well that night (I ordered Medium Rare) and wanted to know if I still wanted it. ....no thank you. I changed to the AKAUSHI RIBEYE 14oz. It was ver good, but not quite worth the $65 price tag...it seemed small and thin for a 14oz. steak. My second trip I did order and receive the Prime Rib dinner. I was disappointed in the texture and flavor. I had my girlfriend try it and she had the same opinion as I did...it felt and tasted like liver (if you ever had liver and onions)... It did have a better flavor as I got more to the middle of the cut, but it was still not quite the Prime Rib I am used to at other steak places. Overall it is a nice restaurant but slightly overpriced for the quality of the steaks. My rating would be 3.5 if I could do it....

My first thought is 'WHY didn't I try this place sooner?!' I've been missing out! The French dip is INCREDIBLE. The bread is so soft and fresh, the meat is seasoned exquisitely, and dipping it in the au jus brings it all together to perfection *chefs kiss*. The whipped potatoes are fluffy and flavored beautifully. The Brussels sprouts are crispy and tart and cooked impeccably. (I had to whip out my thesaurus to find the words to accurately describe how DELICIOUS everything is). Kristin is such a delight, having her as our server was wonderful! She is bright and kind and made our experience even better. The atmosphere is classy but relaxed and would be perfect for a date or a group outing. I cannot wait to go back and try more from the menu!

I want to start the review by saying everyone is extremely friendly, especially the maitre d', who chatted with me while I was waiting for my brunch companions to arrive. We all started with mimosas. I got a pineapple one. I like that they serve the champagne separate from the juice, which came in a mini carafe, so you could mix to your preference. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, and my friends ordered the avocado toast and a Caesar salad. We all really enjoyed the food. I will say I didn't love the fennel in my gravy or the fact that the potatoes came out separately, like 5 mins later (must have been a timing issue). But again, everyone was extremely friend and the food was good. I will say, this wasn't my favorite venue for brunch because it's DARK. The dark gray walls are more suited to a dinner spot. And I'd be interest to see more color in the art for more personality. Since I was early, I popped into the butcher shop to look around. I was disappointed that I didn't see any oxtail (why is it impossible to find in KC now?!) but it had some good looking meat in the displays and interesting products on the shelf. I didn't realize there was also a carry out deli for sandwiches which felt like a smart idea, though I like 15 mins from there so don't know when that would make sense to try.

Our first visit was okay, though we found the drinks to be extraordinarily weak. The server was very nice, and the DJ was great. Unfortunately there's not a designated dance floor and it is so brightly lit no one was dancing when we left at 9:30pm. Despite all that we decided to go back, thinking it would be better on NYE... First, we purchased tickets online AND reserved a table for 6 via the website, but when we arrived we were told they oversold and we could only have a high top with 4 stools. STRIKE 1. I made a reservation for 6, not 4. The event said doors open at 4pm with a complimentary buffet between 6-8pm. The buffet was a salad, lasagna, mac and cheese, chicken strips, and a quesadilla--all of which were delicious. Unfortunately, there was ONE bartender and ZERO servers until after 7pm so we had to go to the bar to order a drink. In fact, no one came to take our order at our table until after 8pm. STRIKE 2. The DJ played some great music but kept cranking up the volume to the point that standing shoulder-to-shoulder we couldn't talk to each other. Additionally, because they oversold, we were surrounded on all sides by people standing around, bumping and brushing by us. STRIKE 3. We ended up leaving around 8:45pm because it was painfully loud, no one was dancing because the area where you would expect dancing was full of people standing around, and we had to take turns sitting/standing because our reservation for 6 was not honored. Sadly I cannot recommend this place.

We were able to do a walkthrough and trial run ahead of time, and they thoughtfully helped us design a layout that made perfect sense for our intimate 40-person reception. Their guidance made the entire space feel intentional, comfortable, and beautifully put together. The space itself is absolutely stunning--elevated, warm, and perfect for a smaller, more personal celebration. When we arrived after our ceremony, the room flip was seamless and everything was exactly as planned. But what truly set Verdigris apart was the service. The staff was phenomenal--attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making our night special. Every detail was handled with care, and we were able to be fully present and enjoy the evening with our guests. We reserved the space for three hours, and it was 100% worth it. If you're considering hosting a private event--especially a wedding reception or intimate gathering--this is the place to do it. We would choose Verdigris again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend.

Cocktails were really good, just on the pricier side -- worth checking the menu before you go. Service was excellent, the patio outside is great, and the seating inside is super comfortable. It does run a little cold inside, so if it's summertime, bring a light jacket.

Kids and I had a blast at BRKTHROUGH when we visited KC. Our group was me and my two sons (14,…read more12). At BRKTHROUGH, you compete in challenge rooms (there are 40 of them, although a couple were unavailable during our visit) - they last a minute or longer, and are categorized as Physical (requiring speed, agility, coordination, etc), Mental (brainpower, trivia, memory, and puzzle-solving), or Skill (precision, dexterity, patience). The descriptors above came from the BRKTHROUGH website, but I can confirm that they are descriptive of the challenges. The room type/difficulty is shown on a triangle, so they are often a combination of two items (for example, mostly physical with some skill-based components). Every room is scored based on your completion (or lack, thereof) out of 100 points. You can redo rooms as often as you like, keeping the highest score. Your team has an RFID wristband to enter the rooms. Your goal is to earn as many points as you can during the time period you paid for (we did 2 hours). Not only do you try to get your best score, there is a leaderboard to show how you are doing against the other teams in the building. You can earn a prize if you obtain a certain minimum score, or win against the other groups. Other than the boys arguing over strategies, we had a good time. Even with young kids, we were able to complete a lot of the rooms. There are plenty of rooms that could be completed by those with physical limitations, but obviously not all of them. We had a good time and the time flew by. There is also a bar and restaurant and a few games to play after your time is up. We had a blast and would definitely return again! , with live leaderboards tracking everyone in the building. You can read more about the activities or book your session on
