Making sausage the Yugoslavian way for decades!
    Tom V.

You go to specialty coffee houses for great brew, artisanal cheese shops for spreads and such, so why not hit a family-owned meat market for great sausage? Krizman's is right in the heart of KCK's Strawberry Hill and has been providing some of the best sausage known to the area. They specialize in sausage-making, and that's kind of the beauty: do something really well and just focus on what makes the business great. I first discovered their smoked kielbasa in a cooking class and just *had* to know where I could get more. Since then, I have been returning to KCK to pick up smoked sausage, kielbasa, and our favorite, andouille sausage. Krizman's andouille sausage is the highlight of my wife's red beans and rice dish. Prices are essentially market rate, but if you want the best, then you have to visit the best. Be bold and try more, because whether you grill or sauté, you will be eating the best sausages in the KC area each time you vis Krizman's.

When you need blood sausage, here is your spot! Well, really any sausage, come here lol!! My partner loves blood sausage so every time I am in KC and on my way back home to him I stop by to pick him up a half dozen. I think I've ordered 10 rings at once (his sister loves them too) but yeah I give them a lot of business. Most recently I also got the bratwurst as well and it was fire!!! Super juicy and huge! It was a part of our "German dinner" night and normally we would eat 2 brats each but these were so big we only needed 1. 2 meals each!! Yeah! Oh PS. Blood sausage wise, just scramble that up with eggs. It's for specific tastes but my partner is obsessed and goes through them fast. They free.r well!

Great local place for sausage with fantastic service. Stopped in for my first time and picked up a few things based on their recommendation. They have a small case inside of sausages that are pre cooked or ready to cook. They were very helpful providing their recommendations on how to cook everything. Will be back!

I go out of my way to grab sausage from Krizmans to smoke at home. They make and sell the local BBQ places sausage. It is delicious!

In addition to food, they also have a few drink options like bottles of wine and beer. They even have dog food and dog treats. The store itself is decent sized. There's plenty of space for a few people to move around. They do have a large deli counter and a few coolers full of goodness. Service is always excellent. They are always helpful and can even offer suggestions if you don't know what to make with what. One of my go-tos are any one of their sausages. They have traditional ones plus a few fun ones. And if you watch their social media, they'll usually tell you when they have a limited addition one. The Rieger whiskey and apple sausage is one of my favorites. They also have a chicken curry sausage, which is excellent and has so much curry flavor. On my last visit I noticed that they have mac & cheese that you can take to go. They have a few different varieties, but I went with one with bacon because their bacon is always fantastic. It was a really good side. I slapped it on the grill to warm it up and it was delicious. Highly recommend. If you are in the city market area definitely stop in and check out what they have.

It can get busy some mornings with people picking up, but I always see people getting helped fast, the line goes quickly. Pro tip: you don't have to be there right in the morning. Wait a couple hours and come in, you'll be fine. Year round, we're a fan of their breakfast burrito mix of meats- just cook it up with eggs and you have yourself a filling meal. Brisket was unwrapped near our table and was dripping juices - spice rub and doneness was right on. The meat was so tender and flavorful that I didn't really need P&F's BBQ Sauce- which was also very good and a bit different from traditional KC style sauce. Pork Burnt ends aren't my favorite but these were tasty, very well spiced and were complimented well by the P&F sauce. While I thought the brisket was the star of the show, the smoked and fried chicken wings were a close second to the brisket and seemed very popular with the crowd at Discourse. When chicken is smoked well, it carries the smoky taste throughout tender and juicy meat and these were smoked well. Can't forget Discourse Brewing, I tried their Used 8 track Dortmunder Lager. I like German style lagers and pilsners and this choice well complimented P&Fs BBQ. Before finishing for the evening I had a Platinum Label "I'm a Dinosaur" Helles - it was light and not too hoppy. I'd have both again. Wednesday is Trivia Night at Discourse and while I didn't stay for it, the place was packed an hour before trivia started. All in all a great evening.
