I really wasn't impressed by my visit here. Personally, I found the service dreadfully slow... we sat down at 7PM and didn't leave until 9PM. The appetizers took 45 minutes to arrive and the mains another 45 minutes. That said, the server was quite friendly, but wasn't as attentive due to the slow service. In terms of the food... I wasn't impressed. The tacos PALE in comparison to some of the places downtown. The nacho appetizer was okay; portions were a touch small for $18. It came with a super spicy red salsa and a semi spicy salsa verde. I got the al pastor tacos, and they were simply subpar. Barely any flavour and the portions were tiny. I was hungry even after I finished. I switched one taco with my cousin, exchanging an al pastor for her beef tongue, and I found hers slightly better. Again, there wasn't a strong flavour but it tasted meaty, unique, slightly refreshing. I think my other cousin's fish tacos were substantially larger - they looked tastier too! I don't think I'd come back to Border MX anytime soon, although they do have a quaint patio. The service is super slow and the food mediocre, in my opinion.

A very sad bowl....98% leaves and if you keep digging you'll be blessed with 1 tsp of refried beans.

Wow, where do I even begin with this place? My friends and I arrived here around 3-4pm and were greeted by the staff. I noticed there were only two other customers and an employee behind my table eating their meal. We scanned the QR code and picked our meal. My friend picked this place because it stated Vegan options on google. To our surprise nothing really is vegan. Is vegetarian. No cutlery given until the last min when food was started to sluggishly come out of the kitchen. When we got our glasses one of them had lipstick stain on it still , and when we all were getting our meal 1 at a time (with 15-30min gap??) , the forks had lipstick stains on it... I'm not confident in how they clean their dishware. But my group and I kept trying to find something good??? Wait time? IT TOOK OVER 2H. It felt like the kitchen was cooking forever? It was not packed and it was not rush hour. I was at a Loss of words. So here is what we got: Chips and guac - 18.9+ over priced for 2 coronas and a bowl of fried tortilla chips with a small guac. It was very bland the guac. But that was the only thing that came ....in like 10min. Every other meal after in this list came 15-30min. Mine take even longer...while everyone else's meals came .... even my friend who order two things got them 10min apart but still before my order...??? Friend 1(Vegan dietary restriction): taco bowl with only re fried beans n no guacamole . It was a hot mess. It was 98% salad onions and drippy water dressing in a big flaky tortilla and if you dig so deep like 6ft deep you find 1 tsp of refried beans as a reward. A big wtf to all of us at the table?! My friend had to go up and ask for more refried beans. What kinda blows my mind..is you know your customer is vegan and to make the dining experience a bit better after what was served was disappointing...they could have..maybe cut up some avocado? Some tomatoes to make the bowl more ??? Filling? 0/5 Friend 2 (Also Vegan): order Cauliflower taco without sour cream. 1/5. He ate it like a champ cause there wasn't much else to do about it. It was just a cauliflower rolled in some very greasy deep fried dough on a very dry tortilla . Friend 3: ordered fish tacos (3 tacos you get per order)and beef tacos(you get 3 per order). On the menu it stated the best fish tacos in mississauga. Long story short. It was not. Soggy, bland , dry tortilla again. My friend didn't even touch the beef tacos after eating the fish tacos. Each order for the fish and beef came with really plain uncle ben like rice.... 0/5 Me: I ordered the Birria. Same really dry taco but the only thing that saved it was the very okay sauce. The beef was okay. Lacked seasoning but the dipping was alright. The cheese was nicely melted. You get 3 tacos and a small dipping. 1/5. Overall: I cannot believe how ridiculously long the wait was for 4 orders at a time where they had No other customers to really serve????? The cutlery was not cleaned. There was lipstick stains on one of our glasses and fork. VERY over priced beer and chips (2 Coronas and a bowl chips / small bowl of guac) Awful. We felt slightly sick as the experience, the dishware being questionable in cleaning, the wait time, the food taste being not great for the price and the lack of effort on the staff side.. just 0 should be given. I'm just glad I had my friends with me and were able to try to make the whole atmosphere a bit easier. Would never recommend and not ever going back.

During COVID #takeoutwednesday we ordered take out to support local businesses. They took payment over the phone and I called when I arrived and they put the food in my car. No contact and social distancing maintained. The food was tasty and satisfying. They got each order right.....one with no dairy, the other with no dairy and sauces on the side and the other 2 regular. I just didn't get a receipt I called and left a message for them to text a copy of the receipt but I haven't gotten it yet.

Location Super cute outdoor patio space! Free parking for customers at the back! Drinks We had a Jalapeño Margarita because that is something you don't usually see. It had jalapeño peppers blended into the margarita itself. Spicy and sweet - it was very nice! We also had the Tamarind drink which was not sweet or tangy enough for me. Food We ordered tortilla chips and salsa, bean taquitos and cauliflower tacos. All of the dishes were fine in terms of how they were cooked and their freshness. The problem was that the dishes were bland. We ordered both types of hot sauce to try amp things up, but it wasn't enough. The dishes were simply not seasoned properly. I am puzzled because this restaurant was highly rated by many others. Oh well! It was a busy Friday evening right so maybe that was a contributing factor. Visit again? We might visit again on a less busy night.

Great flavors and tequila! Really recommend the street corn. Tequila selection is great.

We tried Border MX when we couldn't get a seat at El Mariachi. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Service was great, drinks a little sweet the food was good, churros were delicious! Only critique, it would have been nice if the tacos were served with something on the side. Apparently Birra tacos are not considered tacos so they aren't served with any extras. We asked for a side of rice, it came in a tiny bowl maybe a 1/4 cup size and was charged $4.50. Left satisfied

Flautus with guacamole and refried beans.

The atmosphere of this place is so great, as soon as I walked in I felt like I was walking into my own little getaway to Mexico. The server was extremely friendly and welcoming as soon as we entered! I got a piña colada (which was delicious), and flautas. They were so crispy and the chicken inside was delicious as well. I added the guacamole to mine and it was a very nice compliment to the flautus so I suggest to indulge a little and get some because it was a very well made. The order came with refried beans on the side as well as some hot sauces if you want a little spice (my favourite one was the chipotle one). My boyfriend got the fish tacos and all he could talk about while eating them was how they were the best ones he has ever had! We also ordered the churros because we couldn't resist, and they were without a doubt the best churros I have ever tasted. They came with a caramel dip that was perfect to dip in, but they were honestly so good they were delicious even without the dip (and I love dipping). The washrooms were very clean as well as the restaurant in general. I will 100% be coming back here and now understand why my boyfriend has been saying it's one of his favourite places in the area.

The restaurant is located in Streetsville with a few parking spots in the back. Otherwise you would have to find street parking. Our server was very friendly and sat us at a table by the window. The restaurant is small with a few tables. The menu had a variety of different Mexican dishes to chose from. We didn't have to wait too long for our food to come out. The fish tacos I ordered were deep fried with batter. They were topped with coleslaw which made the fish warmish and a bit greasy. But as you know with most fried foods it was tasty. The refined beans and rice was a very very small portion. Like a quarter cup of each. I guess I was expecting more. Overall we enjoyed our meals even though the portions were very small. The flan for dessert was nice and creamy. I would totally recommend this place for a group or date night.

This place is a really nice, homely place to get some cheap Mexican grub. The place itself is funny to look at, there's some Christmas lights in one corner, some green plants in another, table/chairs colours don't really match anything. The feel of the place is casual. Service was normal, everyone was friendly and food came out not too fast but still in moderate time. I got a vegetarian burrito, which was good hit to the stomach after a long day. I can't say anything otherwise. It wasn't the best thing I've had, but not the worst. It is better and a lot more healthier than the burritos one would get at a chain restaurant. The cheese corn was also a good starter meal, it only comes in 3 however, so not best shared in large groups.

Border MX is located on the east side of Queen Street between Old Pine and Church street which is between Britannia and Eglinton in Streetsville. Oh this place has been a Mexican restaurant for quite a while. Before it was Border MX it used to be La Cantina years ago. The inside doesn't look like it's changed much from the old days and there's a small patio with about 8 tables or so outside. There's a parking lot directly behind the restaurant which also sort of spills out to another parking lot that connects to the back street (Church) as well as having limited street parking. Since I remember coming to La Cantina years ago I was surprised and rather delighted that it was now Border MX. My first experience with Border MX was at their former Hurontario and Dundas location which is no longer but on the bright side, Streetsville is not all that far to go. It was my dinner for my friend's birthday which was last month so we had some catching up to do and she always leaves it up to me to pick the places to eat. My previous experience with Border MX was the other location though so I assumed that the food would be the same as the one at that location. The menu was the same and the staff as well. I remember being served by Jorge and he also remembered me. We decided to sit outside as it was still early and not that chilly. After having a good look at the menu we had pretty much decided what we'd want from drinks to dinner and we knew we were going to leave some room for the churros as well. My wife and friend split a liter of red sangria. I had asked for a mojito but the other server came back and said they didn't have any. I guess that means they were missing something that makes it up so I just ended up getting a beer. For starters we decided to go with the chips and guacamole as well as the corn. The corn was perfect because it came in 3 servings and there were 3 of us. The corn is one corn on the cob broken into 3 with seasoning and queso fresco. The chips are not regular chips. They are actual fried corn tortilla, crunchy and salted. The guacamole is ok but doesn't stand out as great. For the mains my wife ordered the Taco Norteno, my friend ordered a mix of tacos and I had asked for a chorizo chimichanga along with an order of fish tacos we could share. I had a chance to try the Taco Norteno from my wife and wow was it ever good. It was a large crispy fried tortilla made with chicken and beans and it came with a side of soup. The chorizo chimichanga was packed with meat and it was so tasty. The tortilla although fried, wasn't as crunchy as the Taco Norteno probably because it was so thick? Either way it was very savory and such a great flavor. The fish tacos were also crunchy as the pieces were battered crispy with the added crunch texture of the fresh veggies. The dishes come with a small side of rice and refried beans. For hot sauce they offer a spicier one and a green, milder one. The churros are really good and since they're made to order, there's a bit of a wait but they come hot out of the fryer and are the perfect complement to a nice dinner. Between seating, waiting to order and waiting for drinks and food it seems that the place was a bit busy. We did have to wait a while for drinks and even the appetizers. It seemed for the place there were only 2 servers and there were more people sitting outside than inside. There was a bit of a wait for everything it seemed and I suppose it just had to do with being busy. Besides the wait the service is more than friendly. Jorge is a kind and friendly host. I really enjoy the food at Border MX. It is one of the better places to get Mexican in the GTA that I can think of really. I like the fact that they make their own chips, hot sauce, and have things that are not your everyday type of Mexican but a wider variety of dishes. This time around the wait seemed a bit longer than expected but overall the service is good.

3.5 stars... love the owners and staff here. They're great and easily 4 stars. I think it's great they want to share the food of their homeland. I love meeting restaurant owners who have a passion for their food of their home country and want to share it with Toronto. There's something about these people that make believe in the goodness of food and the act of wanting to nourish someone else. The owners here come from Mexico and it was interesting hear him talk about the menu. The menu reads like any normal Tex Mex but the recipes are not. He explained how the recipes reflect a different region of Mexico because when you're away from home, the thing you miss the most (aside from family) is the food. The restaurant is in the heart of Streetsville and in it's own tiny building with a patio! I wasn't expecting the patio.. though it's fully enclosed from the street and between buildings. The spot is clean but has a very very rustic feel to it. It reminds me of an old tavern from the 80s and never left that decade. Lots of dark woods ... terra cotta colours... texture popcorn ceiling and walls. You get the idea. The windows to bring in a lot of light though... so it's not a dark spot. I do have to call out the mural outside... quite beautiful and unusual for Mississauga. Frida Kahlo looks great. The menu has your typical apps of chips and guacamole, burritos, tacos, and a few special mains. We wanted more of a mix of tacos but their menu is structure in a way you can only mix and match tacos from half the menu only. Oh well. We chose the reigning Mississauga favourite taco, fish taco (3 of them), and a mix of 3 tacos (veggie, chorizo, and carnitas). One take away before I get into the food... I think their dish washer might be broken. In two of the utencils we were given, we found dried food. Yuck. Obviously if they spot it ... i would think they would rewash but just be careful of what you're using. Though some tacos are better than others, I do want to mention that they single wrap and that's a bit of an issue. Also, they do provide a choice of 2 sides (rice or bean soup). They're quite small but I guess they just add enough to fill you up more. Veggie Taco - This was chopped up vegetables of carrots, peppers, zucchini, and corn and topped with shredded lettuce. I would say this needs the hot sauce to bring up the flavour. It was quite mild. Though I think it would have been fine served fresh... I think this interior was pre-made and attempted to reheat before serving. It was mostly lukewarm with some vegetables being moderately hot. 3/5 Chorizo Taco - Quite soft and unfortunately I think this and the Carnitas tacos was made ahead of the freshly made Fish Taco. So these sat on the single corn shell... it was a mess to eat as the taco shell instantly dissolved. Similar to the veggie taco, the filling must have been premade and attempted to reheat... it at least cooked too quickly. It was just warm. This also needed the hot sauce to perk up the flavour. 3/5 Carnitas Taco - tender and juicy is great ... but when sitting on a single taco shell, it's bad news. We couldn't even lift this off the plate. It feel apart immediately and was not possible to even salvage the shell. This one was tender but mild in flavour. We used up the last bit of the hot sauce on it. 3/5 Fish Taco - freshly made, these arrived crispy and hot to the table. Crust was light and not too thick in the fish. Fish wasn't dried out. The toppings were bland so it really needed the hot sauce to bring it to life. We did like the fact it's fresh. 3.5/5 Churros - these were great because we had a history lesson come with it. They're pink for a reason ... it's from Strawberries and it's a tradition from specially Mexico City. Outside the churches, men would sell tons of these lightly pink churros as a snack. These were crispy and super hot ... just nicely coated with enough cinnamon sugar to keep licking your fingers. 4/5 I think this spot is one of the better options in Streetsville for food. They family that runs is just great. The food could be a bit more flavourful and served hot. I wish them much success!

My husband, my daughter and I got to know this restaurant during the COVID-19 quarantine when we started ordering their take-out. We went to their patio this evening for dinner. We ordered their Evil Shrimp as an appetizer and my daughter and I shared their Volcan. My husband had their fish tacos. The food was delicious. There was so much food with the Volcan that we had to take some home. I also loved the presentation of the food.

My friend and I came during lunch on a summer Wednesday and the place wasn't too busy so we got seated on the small patio outside, which is just an outdoor space in an alley between buildings. Both of us got tacos, and while they were slightly overpriced, the flavors were incredibly zesty! We also ended up getting churros which were expensive but the portions were huge! The environment was pretty dead while we were there, but I can definitely see the place being busy at night, especially for happy hour!

Interior remains the same as Cantina. It could use new furniture.

We decided to start with the Fries Supreme, which have obviously been modeled after Taco Bell's iconic dish. And yeah, they definitely reminded me of that concoction. The fries could've been fresher and hotter but otherwise I quite enjoyed this messy plate. For the main, I went with a couple of tacos: the Chorizo and the Pulled Pork. The latter I found especially enjoyable, as the sauce the pork had been cooked in was delicious. (It was large chunks of pork, though, so I'm not quite sure it qualifies as pulled pork.) The many hot sauces available, plus the two sauces brought with the tacos, really elevated the whole thing, but I really enjoyed the creamy, cilantro-forward sauce included on the plate. Contigo is a cool little place. I'm sure I'll be returning.

When I walked-in, there was a line-up of customers waiting to be served at the ordering counter. I took some time to look at the menu while I was waiting in the line. The line went quickly, which was great, and before I knew it, I was at the front of the line. Upon reaching the front of the line, I was greeted by a kind young woman, whom asked what I would like. I settled on two tacos; one with ground beef, and the other with grilled chicken. I was then given a number plaque, and asked to find a table in order to wait for the food. I waited about ten minutes, then was brought the food directly to my table, which I thought was great. When I noticed the two tacos on my dish, I was impressed with how full they were. There was also additional dipping sauce that came with my meal, along with two bottles of sauces that the server gave to me when he dropped off my food items. When I bit into the tacos, I was blown away at how delicious they were! The ground beef and grilled chicken were cooked to perfection, juicy and appetizing. I loved how full the tacos were, as there was plenty to munch on, which filled me up quite quickly. Along with the hip-happening Spanish music playing on the speaker, and the Mexican-themed decor on the walls, this restaurant truly embodied authentic Mexican cuisine. Complete with excellent service, this experience was something to remember. I will definitely be back!

Very close to square one shopping mall, this is a good option when you're in the area. There was one person in there working as far as we could tell when we went in this evening. The tacos were cool- not your typical Mexican taco with flour or corn tortilla. It was like a pita but crispy after being in the press with the filling and topped with lettuce, salsa and sauce. The sauces are a variety- some being hummus or a tahini which is where the fusion cuisine takes place. Would definitely come back.

While I enjoy shawarma, I often find it too heavy especially for summer, so I tend to stay away. I liked this chicken/rice box a lot since the sauce felt much lighter and easier to eat even when it's hot outside. The portion size was good; the styrofoam takeout box the meal came in was topped up and the amount in it would definitely be enough for one person. There was enough sauce, the whole bowl felt very fresh, and I liked the tomatoes that topped the bowl since it added something cold + tangy to the meal. Location is convenient, next to Square One and easy to find, but has limited (all paid) street parking. It's best to go with someone to drive, pop off quickly to pick up, and go. All in all a solid experience. I'd definitely come back for more Alijandro's Box. At the BOGO price I got it for, portion size was great, but at the original price, I'd think it leans towards being pricey, as the box isn't really that full. But, flavour and freshness are all really good, so I can anticipate myself craving this soon!
