It often felt like the nicer the place looked, the less they actually cared about the pets. Because of that, I gave up and kept paying the ridiculous vet prices in San Diego... until I simply couldn't take it anymore. Thank God I found Club de Nana on Yelp. After reading all the great reviews (and yes, they're REAL), I decided to give them a chance, and I'm so glad I did! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was different. The entire staff truly cares about every pet that comes in. They don't see animals as $$$ signs, they listen, they explain, and they care about your fur babies. My first green flag was seeing multiple pets being cared for behind the front desk, literally hanging out freely instead of being locked in cages, I absolutely LOVED THAT!! There are no appointments, you just wait your turn. I've been there four times, and only once did I wait for my turn about 15-20 minutes. Every other visit was less than 5 minutes. The clinic looks like a house from the outside, so parking is limited, but even then I only had to wait about 10 minutes once. I took my 7-year-old pittie because he was bleeding while peeing. They ran different tests, diagnosed him with an enlarged prostate, and recommended surgery (neutering). It's now been 11 days since he got surgery at El Club de Nana, his stitches are out, the bleeding is completely gone, and he's happier and has so much more energy. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the doctors Lulu and Francisco, and the staff at Club de Nana. I have my healthy, happy boy back, and I couldn't be more grateful .

Well, I adopted a puppy and had many unforeseen issues, including my older dog rejecting the new puppy, and they would not take her back. They told me, if it was an urgent issue all I could do was pay one of their trainers $50 per day to give her back. They had no fosters available yet here I was liable, per the contract. They hid behind their monitors/phones texting with no one wanting to help at all. They accused me of not wanting to spend the money to train the puppy along with being very, very rude to me when all I wanted was for them to live up to the rules of their very own contract. If they are going to write a contract as such, they need to follow through and take the puppy back quickly. This is how bad things happen to animals when an owner can't keep the dog for many reasons, or the dog is not a good fit for the household. If they truly care they should adhere to their own requirements. Long story short, with time and training and patience, and after 6 weeks of being abandoned by Baja Rescue entirely, and moving forward as a loving animal lover, we will be keeping the puppy afterall. But, this isn't always the case for some people and if Baja Rescue truly loved animals they would stand by their word and their contract or not have that in the contract at all Therefore, I do not recommend this rescue to anyone. They do not follow through and their actions reflect neglect of animals.

The facility looked well kept and clean. There's a very big selection on dogs specifically and if you are a bit educated about shelter pets and are willing to be patient and maybe even consider some training, you will find a pet there for sure. I always like to remind people, specifically people who've never done this before, this is a place where animals from all walks of life get taken to. Some of them, if not most, will be showing some signs of kennel stress. It's always good to take your time with looking at them and ask as many questions as you can. I feel like many rabbit adoption centers are very specific when it comes to their adoptions, but not in a good way. Shelly does not judge, but she does make sure that you're fit to adopt. She also does not pressure you into adopting. Luna (previous Dustina) is the rabbit I adopted and she has tear duct issues due to neglect from a previous owner (we believe). Though I came in wanting her for certain, I still wasn't sure due to her condition. Shelly assured me that I can do it but to think about it, just in case I was hesitant. I came back the next day and here I am with Luna happily, two months later. She gives you a box of hay, a care booklet, and a free veterinarian visit at her workplace. She basically gives you everything necessary in order to care for one of her rabbits, all you have to do is give it love.

My boyfriend and I have seen them (usually the lady the runs the rescue) at the Unleashed off of East H St. in Chula Vista, on Sundays. I believe they're there from 10am-2pm running their adoption events. There are usually a handful of animals, usually dogs found in the corner, by the front register. The lady that runs the rescue is pretty nice and informative with the animals that are in her care. When I spoke to her, she let us know about the animals that she has are out the events (their breed, personality, age, etc). She has said that they have over a hundred animals that they rescue and the animals either stay either her or fosters until the animals can be adopted. I have gone on their website and it's not as up to date with the information, so I would suggest contacting them or going to one of their events to see what animals they do have. It's nice to know that you are given a week to see if the animal you want to adopt will work for you and your family. If the animal doesn't fit, you can bring them back the following week and what you pay for the adoption is refunded to you. You are always welcome to return the adoptee to the organization any time after adoption instead of having them go to a shelter or giving them away another way. The lady that runs it is pretty upfront with how the adoption process goes and does try to find a good fit for you and the animals she cares for. I would give her a try if you are trying to find a new fur baby! They are always getting new rescues, so check back, or just let them know what you are looking for and you may end up with an awesome new fur baby for your family!

We got to meet a lot of adorable dogs, and one little guy instantly stole our hearts. What really stood out was how thoughtful and thorough TAP's process is. There was no pressure to adopt on the spot, which we really appreciated. After the event, we completed an application and received clear next steps. The following week, our foster brought him to our home so we could spend more time together. That confirmed everything we felt at the event. TAP conducted a home visit and checked our references, and it was clear throughout the process that they truly care about the well being of their animals and making the right match. Our foster was amazing, so kind and supportive. When we brought our little guy home, she sent him with his toys, some food, and a sweet note, which meant so much to us. I would not recommend adopting from The Animal Pad based on my experience…read more I recently adopted an older dog from them, and it became clear very quickly that some of his medical needs had not been adequately addressed. His medications had not been given consistently, and serious dental issues were left untreated. Since adopting him, I've had to constantly push just to get action taken on problems that should have been addressed much earlier. This past week, his gums became infected, likely related to his ongoing dental problems. It has been one medical issue after another, and what makes this so frustrating is that I believe many of these problems could have been prevented or better managed with consistent care. I understand that rescues rely heavily on fosters and have limited resources. But when you take responsibility for an older dog with significant medical needs, that responsibility includes making sure medications are given consistently, necessary veterinary and dental care is provided, and medical problems are followed up on. I'm exhausted from having to fight for this dog to receive the care he needs. Had his medical needs been managed properly and consistently, I believe his quality of life could have been significantly better.

Incredibly helpful, extremely nice, and kinder than you'd ever expect. They answered all my questions without making me feel like a palooka and they handled the whole operation with class. The facility itself is what it is. It's an older establishment, you know? They're workin' with what they got. But you don't judge a book by its cover, and you don't judge a place by its linoleum. It was clean, and that's what matters. The process, though? Smooth. Very professional. No funny business, no hidden fees. I'm attaching the price sheet they gave me--everything's on the level, very reasonable for what you're getting. They made sure the pup and I were a good fit.
