A cozy local spot we visit a couple times a month. We always attend the trivia nights and music bingo nights. So Fun! And the whole place participates! The staff is outstanding and they have terrific bartenders, boy do they hustle!! They always make you feel welcome. The menu has good variation for me, nothing too unusual or fancy, but quality food, good portions and they always have specials. Dining inside or out on the patio, it is a nice atmosphere with nice lighting, and Chester County decor. It would also be a lovely place for a private event. Some of the negative reviews are a few years old and most of the staff and management has changed since then, for the better! read more

We wanted to find someplace to eat outside and we hit the jackpot! Great service, thanks Maddie! Craft beers for hubby and a nice wine selection. I started with the butter nut squash soup crushed walnuts on top. Ate every bit! Husband had a pulled pork sandwich and fries. Delicious, he only ate half. I had the clam and pasta appetizer. Dozen of steamed clams, garlic bread, angel hair pasta, corn and sausage. Hot and steamy. Not sure the sausage made sense. Can't wait to go back with the family! read more

Basically the outdoor patio is the only thing going for it. Food seemed microwaved at best

The view was nice. The service was good. However the food was lacking flavor and giving us no reason to return.

Love this place firstly the service is first class ! Our waitress light a fire for is and was on the ball with every detail making sure we were taken care of! We had the cheese plate =awesome!!! Pulled BBQ sandwich which the best BBQ I've ever had! And the apple cider bread pudding was fantastic! We have gone twice now loved everything each time steak was wonderful Mac n cheese was top notch ! A must go! read more

Really good spot to sit outside on a nice day. Great views of the golf course as well. Food was really good. One of the best grilled chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, havarti cheese and a shallot sauce. Excellent. I would give this five stars, but for two downsides. One, they ran out of the soup special that only one of our party could have, and it was terrific. The other downside was smokers were allowed on the deck. Come on people, this is 2014...no restaurants should allow smoking anywhere on the property. Service was nice, food great...smoking not so much. read more

Did a Google search seeking a restaurant in West Chester with some ambiance and got a number of hits for Bordley House Grill - not in town, but not far out of town, either. I recognized the area from my trips to Temenos Retreat House nearby on Telegraph Road, but had never noticed the place, because it's just off Telegraph, going West, to the right on Broad Run Road. I'd also never heard of the place before. I admit to not keeping up with the area restaurants and it turns out it's only been open for about two years in its most current incarnation, so that's not surprising. I arrived early for my date and the bartender was friendly and informative. I had time to check out the list of draft and bottled bear, which was impressively diverse with both known and less known choices, including some microbrews I'd never heard of before. The menu likewise reflected more than a few unique offerings among some more familiar dishes. The bartender told me that they use only fresh ingredients and grow their own herbs on site in keeping with the original owner's interests. A write up about him and the history of the place is just inside the menu and also on the website. The ambience, as anticipated, was wonderful. Original stone supports and fireplace, handsome leather and upholstered seating, tasteful golf oriented art work (since the restaurant is located on a public golf course), all nicely accentuated with Christmas decorations this day. And, outside the window, still more loveliness in the unfettered rolling hills and woods of the countryside and - this day - the massive facing hill gleamed with snow and was covered with toboggan trails. We enjoyed the soup of the day with steak and vegetables and also the standard menu item - chicken pot pie soup with floating puff pastries. For dessert an interesting combination of apple cider donuts (made with the same ingredients as Highland Orchards cider donuts, the bartender informed me), squares of sugar spiced apples, and whipped cream dotted with candied bacon - not too sugary for all that, and even nourishing. We were, unfortunately for the proprietor, the only ones there for lunch that day although we did get to sit at a table just in front of the fireplace which the staff lit and tended just for us, so no complaining here. I wanted to write this review to share this find so that it may continue to be found there. I encourage you to try the Bordley House Grille and know you won't be disappointed for the effort. The prices are nice, too. It's a perfect middle of the road between the not too distant casual dining of Four Dogs Tavern and fine dining of Marshalton Inn. With its long bar, including a television, it is inviting for an informal drop-in, as well. read more

Had a really nice dinner here on a wintry Tuesday night with three friends. Not too busy, but not empty. Great service, attentive but not overbearing. Nice beer selection. Diverse but small menu, with something for our vegetarian. Excellent special red salad, huge portion of it. Mac-and-cheese is delicious only if you like mushrooms. A bit more mushrooms than pasta. Food and atmosphere were great! Went for Easter dinner and it was far from crowded, but the experience was great. I am a big fan of the small menu with one or two specials - you know you're getting something fresh. Mac and Cheese is fabulous, but wouldn't order it again for the kids from the kids menu - definitely a more grown-up taste (rosemary). I had the Bibb Salad and Scallops - both were very light and very tasty. My husband ordered the meatloaf and I have to say, definitely one of the best we've ever had! We will definitely be back again. Great location - beautiful old house. Can't wait for the porch to open up. read more

A nice, small menu, and you'll find it's better that way. This place has a friendly staff, awesome seating and atmosphere with plenty of fresh air outside on the patio. The menu is upscale comfort food. You'll feel right at home, but let's face it, it's all better than what you make at home. Definitely recommended! Going back this Sunday afternoon! read more

We tried Bordley House Grill for the first time because we had a gift certificate. We also live around the corner and thought it might be somewhere we could frequent if we liked it. Our waitress and the Assistant Manager were lovely, courteous, and dealt with some problems the best they could, but overall- our experience was really (really) bad. First, it was 7:30,we sat Inside because it was pouring out... And man it was hot in there. No air flow, some AC window units working but barely getting any cool air to our seats. Who wants to eat a (very expensive) meal while sweating, hot, and uncomfortable? Ugh. We decided to suck Up and make the most of it. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich but he is picky- and wanted it dry. With NO pickle on the plate(don't ask). After a delicious salad, our food came- his with a oh old pickle on top and slathered in mayo. Here comes the good part. When we politely and reluctantly sent it back because of the mayo, whatever "chef" was running kitchen basically scraped out the roll, scraped off the mayo, put the same Roll on the grill, burnt it, and then it was served to us. So, the same mayo'ed roll except this time scraped clean and burnt black. I honestly was in shock that an established restaurant, charging 16$ for what could have been a really good sandwhich, would employ anyone who would think that this was even remotely ok. The waitress admitted it was the last ciabatta roll and offered a new roll for the sandwhich. Slightly paranoid of the whole spitting in a PIA customers food, my husband passed altogether and ate nothing. After two stink bugs landed on our table and started flying around, we laughed at the silliness of the entire evening- our hopes severely disappointed that this was somewhere we would go back. My tips: don't go there in the summer- it will be hot. Don't expect a "chef" for your $36 12 ounce steak. It is probably some golfers son back there throwing together food- sending out burnt recycled bread to customer. read more

I went to the Bordley House Grille with a large group of friends and I have to say I was very impressed by the food (I'm a cook and expect great food when eating out) They did not disappoint! I had the salmon and it was as delicious as it was beautiful. The mac and cheese was out of this world and the calamari was nice too. Interesting and tasty martinis. The wine pours could be a bit larger given the price but that is my only complaint. Our waitress was awesome and the atmosphere was wonderful! Overpriced average food but friendly service that was wanting in performance. Probably OK for a lunch or wings but clearly not up to par for a dinner. Very limited entry menu and wait staff forgot to tell us they were out of the only seafood dish they had until we ordered it! Roasted chicken dinner had been microwaved to reheat.
