Went here to dine at my partner's suggestion. They saw the restaurant on Kelly Drives with Bob Kelly. Street parking is very limited. Do not park in the lot next to the building because it is for the US Postal Service and your vehicle will be towed. There is a parking garage around the corner on the corner of Walnut and Chestnut Streets. The cost is 25 cents for every 15 minutes. We ordered an Old-Fashioned with Woodford and a Blueberry Shaker. The Blueberry Shaker was only 3 dollars more than the regular drink and it yielded a total of 4 drinks for my partner. The drinks were good. For our meals we had the Steak and Shrimp Bourbon, Bourbon Street Burger, and a side Caesar Salad. Everything tasted very good. The decor is New Orleans Style although not completely authentic. There is a beer garden for those who want a less formal atmosphere. The hostess was incredibly good at her job. She was very friendly and engaging. We really enjoyed her service. The food at The Social was good and the cocktails were decent. However, the service was utterly horrible. I went with my girlfriend last Sunday night, 3/29. First, my girlfriend and I arrived to the restaurant. We requested a specific table, and the host was gracious enough to do so. We then waited 8 minutes before our table was even touched, and it was just our (server? No intro, nothing) ASKING us if we'd like water. We say yes, and then waited an additional 5 minutes just to receive water in PLASTIC cups. Again, this person never told us his name, and we weren't even sure if he was taking our order or not. He appeared to be about 18, and was most certainly high Then, we requested glasses, and since it had been 15+ minutes since we sat down, said we were ready to order when we got the glasses. The guy took our order. We both got cocktails, which also took about 10 minutes. Finally, our appetizer came. We weren't even halfway through before the entrees came, we probably had about 10 minutes to finish it. This all could have been negated if our order was taken correctly, and things could have been staggered correctly. The "two bite" check occurred within 30 seconds of our food being dropped, and by then I hadn't even touched my food. It was way too early and felt like he was just trying to get it out of the way. At that point both my girlfriend and I were just ready to eat and we said everything was fine. I had to ask the guy for a bag on the way out, rather than him giving me one after our food was put into 3 boxes. I want to be empathetic of whatever was going on at The Social that Sunday. Yet, if you are going to make your steak $42, the service needs to justify that price. I will not be going back to The Social, and encourage their management to speak to their server who flubbed the ENTIRETY of my experience there. Myself and my girlfriend both work in the service / restaurant industry, and we know what good service is. We also understand that there are bad days. This was just abysmal. 4/10. read more

Review is for happy hour only! My coworkers and I decided to stop by the bar for happy hour. Its Christmas time so the place was decked out in decorations! It was very nice atmosphere and the bartenders were very nice. From the happy hour menu I got the $5 house cab which was pretty good. We wanted some food to go with our drinks so we got a variety. -Cheese fries: Cant go wrong with cheese fries! Pretty good. Wanted a bit more cheese sauce and the fries were a tad salty (preference) -Blacken chicken nachos: these were really good! The blacken chicken had a lot of flavor. Also in my opinion the chips themselves were a bit salty. -Blacken shrimp: Came as 4 pieces and the best thing I ate. Very good! Wish I had more of the sauce they came on. -Fried lobster mac n cheese: least favorite. Dry on the inside and was fried too long. Couldn't really taste any lobster. Sauce that came with these bites were really good. My friend got the Cuban sandwich which looked amazing! Im sure the food from the actual menu is better. First off, the pineapple upside down cake drink actually tastes like the cake. I was blown away. I ordered the pistachio chicken with sweet potato fries, it's from their appetizer menu, but it's so large!! The strawberry sauce that went with it was amazing. The lighting is low and place is chill, staff is friendly. My friends order came out wrong but the fixed the issue, unfortunately it just took a really long time and she ended up taking it to go. Was looking for a good happy hour in West Chester. Most of them ended around six, but I quickly learned that TAPS was going on. Every Wednesday from 5 to 7 there are additional happy hour specials at participating bars and restaurants. Many bars were super crowded, but the social had room to squeeze in. Great menu and lovely atmosphere. There's a bar area and dining spaces throughout the historic building. Super cool lighting and decor. Parking in garage around corner is your best bet as there's no parking along the road that it is located. The parking fees are reasonable. It did get busy so would recommend reservations. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Our server was attentive and you will not wait long for food. The menu is super creative and there are so many great dishes to try. We started with the goat cheese stuffed wings. Do not leave this restaurant without ordering these! They were amazing. For entrees we went with the pistachio chicken fingers which were huge and came with very tasty sweet potato fries. It comes with a good raspberry sauce, but ask for their honey mustard to dip as well. They also have this as an entree with sauce and potatoes, but didn't want that big of a meal. However, the app portion was pretty huge as well. Also ordered dish on the specials menu which was oysters and alligator with rice. Would for sure order again. Took dessert to go as the lemon cake sounded amazing and it was! Creamy and light with the perfect balance of lemon. Nothing we had was bad. It was sweet bun with sweet honey. It would be nice if on the menu it stated you could order a spice level! We also got the hummus platter that was large and everything was good but the tortilla chips on there- maybe old? This restaurant has indoor seating with a bar area as well as outdoor seating. Gay Street in front of the restaurant was closed off to traffic and the restaurants all had outdoor seating in the street which was a nice vacation vibe. We started with Nola fries that had crab and cheese on top. It was a large enough portion to share among the 4 of us. Two people had the meatloaf, 1 jambalaya, and 1 cowboy brisket. This was my first time at The Social. I'd known of it as a sort of dive bar with bands. However it's received a makeover. It's sooooo adorable and festive now!! We had a party of 5 with a 5:15 resy reservation. We were given a very gorgeous table on the other side of the front bar. It had its own little roof and a cool picture of Frank Sinatra. Love!! However, it was right outside the restrooms and for some reason, both doors SLAM so hard that it's jarring sitting there listening to the booms!! Such an easy fix, too! Hopefully management addresses this. 3 of us ordered specials: prime rib with garlic mashed and vegetables, burrito mix, and steak tacos. All were excellent! We shared a slice of chocolate layer cake which was more like a thicker torte consistency. It was good, served with sides of strawberry and whipped cream. Our server Gunnar was perfectly nice but not overly attentive. It was a very busy Friday night, in his defense. It wasn't busy at 5:15, but got pretty jammed by 6. I wanted to love it here. I was looking forward to a birthday dinner at The Social and booked reservations in advance. For some reason, after several attempts booking on Resy was not working. In the meantime I called the restaurant several times, even leaving a voicemail, never got through to anyone. No return call. Finally I was able to make a reservation on the reservation site--"yay!" I thought. I book it for 8:45pm as on the website you could book until 10pm. When my spouse and I arrive we are told that the kitchen was closed! Very disappointed. Holy cow we hit gold with a Social, talk about a big checklist. Great food menu, great drink menu, cool decor and vibe, super dog friendly, very friendly and approachable staff, and to top it all off food with sensation. Made a last-minute reservation for two adults and a dog and we were so pleased to find out the options we had not just outside but outback as well so we got a chance to pick our table get ourselves settled in . Our server, Justus, really did a great job making sure that we were pleased, that everything was as requested, including pacing out the evening. So let me tell you about some excellent food that we had- started off with a cup of chicken gumbo, followed by a pan, seared crabcake, and for the entrée that we shared was the filet mignon cook, medium rare with jambalaya, and we took home the white chocolate bread pudding. Now that I got the menu out-of-the-way, let me just tell you everything that we had was cooked to perfection. The flavor profile was incredible. One of my favorite restaurants in West Chester. My family loves going here whenever I come to visit them. Everything is absolutely delicious, and the portions are plentiful. We like to sit outside in the back area because I have older parents who are still cautious about covid. I like that there is plenty of outdoor seating! I had the shrimp and grits this past visit, and I am drooling just thinking about this dinner!! The sauce was so creamy and filling, everything was prepared perfectly, and the presentation was beautiful. We would frequent The Social around 6-8 times a year but will NEVER go back after the horrible experience that we just had. We had a party of 6 that was initially seated near the entrance. It was super cold there so they moved us to a side room. Was warmer there, but as the room filled up, it started getting colder, which is odd because usually alot of people in one room creates more heat. I had my coat on, one guest had their gloves on, several had their vests and jackets on. My son asked one of the servers (who was wearing a hoodie) if the AC was on and she said she'd ask. With that, a person that I'm assuming was the manager (but was absent from customer interaction training day) came back ready to rumble! She harshly announced that the thermostat was set at 70, and some customers "run hot" and rolled her eyes and walked away. I went to the restroom and a woman was running her hands under hot water to try and warm herself up! She said "It's absolutely freezing in this place". When I told her the thermostat was set to 70 she said "Well their heater is broken because it's more like 60 in here! There are so many warm and welcoming places in West Chester that we'll go to, never to return to The Social! read more

Coming 6pm on a non busy Friday was ideal. The drink was shockingly inexpensive at only $6!! The following week on Saturday at 8pm was so busy I couldn't get a seat at the bar. The bar tender checked up frequently, and thankfully it wasn't too lout so if you decide to have a drink with a friend, you wont lose your voice by the end of the night. We've been once so far when friends from out of town came to visit and the food was fantastic. I definitely would have given this five stars based on the food alone; however, there were some big service misses. We ordered our appetizers with our dinner... big mistake as our entrees came out 10 min directly after the order and our apps never made it. Once we got the main, we just canceled the apps that we had ordered (3 of them for our group). I'd advise to wait for until your appetizers arrive before ordering your main here. Also, our server was pretty inattentive. Our table ordered a drink immediately. They took 20 min to arrive and that was the only one we were offered the rest of the night. We likely would have likely ordered another 2-3 rounds had our server bothered to ask. Overall, the restaurant missed out on likely over $100 in sales of apps and drinks due to inattentiveness and attention to detail. Now, onto the food - it truly was phenomenal! We're definitely going to try again due to the quality here. We had Shrimp and Grits, smoked filet jambalaya, the Nashville chicken sandwich, and a filet and shrimp. They specialize in Southern Style cuisine that ranges from huge salads and southern-themed burgers to more complex entrees you might find in a well known and more opulent restaurant in New Orleans or Charleston. We ordered Shrimp and Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes and a Pistachio crusted chicken topped with crab in a lobster cream sauce. The entrees are fun and delicious. The food is great, the service is great, the menu and drinks are a lot of fun. A+++ West Chester has a lot of really great places to eat - The Social does not disappoint. Outstanding. I lived for a decade in New Orleans and worked and ate at some of the best restaurants in the French Quarter. The food here is on par with the best of the best. The shrimp and grits tastes like a spoonful of good memories. Do yourself a favor and get something with Tasso cream sauce. It's divine. The pistachio crusted chicken appetizer was amazing. I was skeptical about the sweet & savory mix, but it was perfectly balanced and practically addictive. I've been here a few times and never been disappointed by any dish or special or drink or appetizer. They do everything well and the service is top notch as well.
