This has been the worst experience I've ever had with any construction company. I wish I could give zero stars. After our initial appt for bed we scheduled a day for the guys to come install a new gate with spring lock and to make a lattice cover for our pool equipment. We sent several photos of exactly what we wanted. When the guys left we went outside to look and noticed the gate was completely nothing like requested and had no spring as is ode for having a pool. Then we looked at the pool cover which also looked nothing like the photos we had submitted. Two months later, several scheduled appointments where guys came and had no material fix anything, several appointments where they showed up hours late, or not at all, the job is still Incomplete. I would not recommend both fence to my worst enemy. The hours I have spent waiting around for nothing to be accomplished have reached over ten. Horrible horrible experience read more

Borg fence did a great install of our shared fence of 109 feet. Quality installers, led by Manuel; he was very proactive and efficient, professional. The estimator didn't explain the different fence types (we wanted to match the style of the existing fence on 2 sides) ie (board on board, and on which side the crossrails would go. That would've been helpful when he gave us the estimate. Manuel (the foreman) recognized and resolved the issue for us. Would definitely use them again. read more

Patrick and his crew were wonderful - hardworking, friendly, and responsible. They finished the fencing job in one day and put enough cement in deep enough holes for the poles. The fence repair looks great. The only comment is that Borg office manager, Tim, called me two days later (fence repaired on Friday, called on Monday). He was asking how the job went, but seemed to infer that he wanted the payment right away. It is fine to ask the customer whether or not they are satisfied with the job, but very poor business to ask for immediate payment. I should have been given a chance to at least mail in the payment, not be pressured to drive to the office to pay it immediately. read more

I must be living in an alternative universe from some of the negative posters. I've used Borg three times at our residence (we've replaced our back yard fence in sections), and also hired them to replace fences in a 42-unit condo complex during the time when I served on the HOA board for the complex. Their prices are alway competitive, and usually lower, than other fence companies. They get in and get out with no drama, no mess left behind, and a solid, well-constructed product. read more

I've experienced better and it was from Borg a few years ago - I think they may have gotten too big for their britches as the customer service and attention to detail and care was lacking with this experience. The quality of the fence itself is fine, but....they busted a landscape line which cost us over $300 to repair - contract states they are not liable for this sort of thing - sooo no need for installers to be careful !! There was quite a mess in an area where we had flowers and rock area - dirt spilled all over the rock area and destroyed flowers - just very messy and didn't clean up properly. We've had other contractors work at our home and appreciate them leaving areas where they worked in the same order that they found it. Borg seems too busy to care and too disorganized to inspect and make sure the customer is satisfied ! read more

Contrary to some of the other reviews that I read, my experience with Borg Fence was extremely positive. After sorting through the estimating process to get the estimate to accurately reflect the desired end product and price, I was impressed with their customer service, communication, workmanship and overall professionalism. If there is a knock it would be the lead time to get an estimator to site and a crew thereafter. However, the wait was worth it given the price and finished product ie 105' of fencing. (I'm only going to replace this fence once, so I was willing to wait to get what I wanted) As a General Contractor, I speak from experience when rating them as "Yay! I'm a fan" when I see exceptional performance as a Project Manager and workmanship on site. From the administrative staff to the estimator to the field supt. I would without hesitation recommend them for all your fencing needs and presumably any other work within their scope of expertise. read more

I had a back fence and side fence installed by Borg. The side fence is good neighbor and the back is 7 ft tall with lattice on top. It is all Redwood. I just had Borg fence complete half of my back fence. My neighbor behind me had half of the fence between our properties fenced to keep their dog from getting out. a year had passed and It was my turn to finish it off. I contacted 3 contractors and Borg was one of the two that responded. Their estimator Airis Smith was extremely friendly and helpful. He worked up the estimate while he was on site and left me the written estimate that day. Their price was a little lower than the other contractor who wanted me to clear the area around the old fence of ivy and blackberry vines before they would do the work. Borg came out about a week after I signed the contract and they were there 1/2 hour before the estimated time and cleared away the old fence and brush and had the new fence completed in less than 4 hours. It was only 30 feet of fence but they matched the fence that my neighbor installed earlier on his half (7' high board on board with 4x6 posts and 2x6 top cap) and my half looks better. They look similar but the wood Borg used is obviously better. The crew was very nice and my yard was a mess before the work was done so I can't comment on how they left the jobsite but I am very happy with the work and final result. read more

We just had over 200 ft of fences, 2 wooden gates and a 14ft wide (2x7ft) steel gate. Martinez the foreman for the fence was great. The steel gate foreman was equally as good, but I cant remember his name. The crews worked fast and left the site clean each night of the 3 day job. I would recommend being home while they work. There were several questions that they asked my preference as I was home, but if they were working alone, they could easily have made a different call that I would not have been as happy with. If you stay involved during the job, I am sure you will be pleased with the end result. read more

We had a big storm knock down a large tree and take out 4 panels of a very old fence. Borg gave us a very reasonable price and was able to replace it within the week. Borg Fences put in a fence for us in December. They were the only ones who could come out prior to the beginning of the year and we started getting quotes from companies in September! Their quote was a little on the higher side, but it was well worth the money! They replaced a side fence and two gates (ours and our neighbors). They were efficient, punctual, and did a great job cleaning up. They took the old fence away and left everything looking great! We just recently had our fencing and gates done by Borg Fence. Not only were they the most competitive bid, but the quality of materials and workmanship was excellent. Manuel and his crew were in contact with us throughout the entire project to ensure we were satisfied. They were very considerate of the many plants and our garden area which were in close proximity to the new fencing and the area and worksite were clean when the project was finished. As the project was a difficult one due the considerable hill in our backyard, the crew worked overtime and came back for an additional half day with no additional charges being added to our original bid. They installed a 7' Fence, RV Gate & a 2' height redwood extension on top of a cinder block fence. The cinder block was a big challenge & they came through with flying colors. Alex came up with a clean design and a flawless transition. The extension is well secured & they did not use ugly redwood posts down the cinder block fence like I have seen done. They earn all stars just for that. It truly shows their craftsmanship & quality of work. Joe was the project manager & was there every day & called me with progress reports. With his experience in the construction he field provided good tips on making a quality RV Gate. The crew showed up on time, cleaned up at the end of the day & the end of the job. I almost didn't go with them because of the poor reviews. Joe convinced me they would do s good job. Kerry & I are very happy with the construction crew we had and the outstanding job they did. The overall job is 5 star & they get lots of bonus points for the redwood height extension on top of the cinder block fence. It came out great. read more

I had my fence replaced by Borg, and it was a big mistake. They do not stand by their product. They will say anything to get the job, and after the fence is installed good luck getting any problems resolved. They provide horrible customer service after they get paid, and the fence isn't cheap. I would expect a higher level of customer care and service for the price you pay. They are very prompt in letting you know payment is due, but don't respond when there is an issue. My fence is just over a year old, and i am starting to see several problems with the product. Borg has ignored me when I reached out to them to see how I could fix the problems with the fence. read more

My neighbor had Borg repair her fence. They used my newly planted garden to saw the fence and destroyed several of my plants. There was sawdust all over the area where the plants use to bE and they used my new soil to put under her fence.. After calling Borg 6 times and never being able to have anyone call me back to discuss the situation, I finally gave up. I will never give this company my business ever again. No one ever said they were sorry or would try and correct the situation. They said their employees were busy and did not seem to care about the situation. I would highly recommend that people go elsewhere to do business as this place had NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Full disclosure: This is my first Yelp review. I've used Yelp for awhile, but have never taken the time for reviewing. Now, Borg has pissed me off to the point of action. Borg replaced our fence, and overall the fence looks OK, and is what we contracted for. However: - What a mess they left. Dirt piled on top of the landscaping plants, trash left behind, plants trampled, drip irrigation lines broken. Looks like the workers were allotted a certain amount of time for the job, and when the time ran out, they split. - They augered through a plastic drain line while digging post holes. No big deal, as the line was buried and they had no way of knowing it was there. The foreman agreed to repair the line, and I asked that it not be covered until I could inspect the repair and insure that they maintained the original drain slope. When I came home that evening, I found that the hole had been filled in. I complained to my Borg contact, the estimator, and he agreed to uncover the drain for my inspection. Said that the scheduler would contact me. That was the last I heard from Borg. They ignore my e-mails. I dug up the drain line, and sure enough, they had done a sloppy repair job, and had not maintained the drain slope. I repaired their repair. These folks are not honest, and apparently don't want you taking up any more of their time after the installation is complete. - They used deck screws to hold up a heavy section of the fence. Pretty light duty for the weight. Should have used 1/4" lag screws. On some of the posts, they didn't pour enough concrete, so that the posts lie below grade. The posts will probably rot out in 5-10 years, and I have a 15 year warranty which I can hopefully fall back on - if they are still in business. In general, mediocre workmanship. So, overall, I'll give them 2 stars, as the fence looks OK, but because of the time I've spent cleaning up after them, and the frustration in failing to get their attention, I don't recommend Borg Fence. Try the other one: Reuben Borg Fence. They have great Yelp reviews. read more

Disappointed. This is the third time I've used Borg, but probably the last. They installed a good fence, as they did last time. But the crew, in the process, broke several bricks off of a masonry retaining wall. They tried to patch it up using fence post mortar and made a mess of it. I called, and they sent a man out to fix it, but it still looked bad...badly out of alignment. Even the trouble-shooter employee who came out said he was not satisfied. I asked for a break on the bill ($2,500), so they sent me a card good for $50 off on my next Borg fence. It will cost me several hundred bucks to get the masonry fixed properly. Nice fence, but bad support for incidental damage. They should have done the right thing and had this repaired professionally. read more
