Arrived for an early lunch and decided to try their signature platter with pork. I will say the staff seemed very friendly and I did not wait to long after placing my kiosk order. Now let's get to what you really want to know about, the FOOD. The pork 9/10 cooked perfectly. The only reason they missed a point is because of the excess fat. Rice 7/10 good but lacked seasoning. I had a greens, beans and queso empanada that was the best empanada I've ever had the privilege of eating. The vegan collards and chicharrones de jackfruit were absolutely delicious. "Puerto Rico inspired soul food" My family ordered this from Uber Eats on a Saturday night and thoroughly enjoyed it. (Note: Uber Eats increases the entree prices by about $2, in addition to all the fees.) I ordered the Chicharrones de Pollo Soul Bowl, which comes with fried chicken thigh chunks, a rice dish, collards, macaroni & cheese, and tostones (fried green plantains). The rest of my family got various kinds of empanadas. The food arrived pretty quickly even though it was a Saturday night, and it was packaged well and environmentally-consciously-- entrees nicely laid out in separate paper boxes and all in a paper bag. I thought the "bowl" might have all the ingredients mixed, but they arrived nicely separated within the box. The chicken was tasty -- a tiny bit dry but nonetheless quite flavorful. The mac & cheese had an excellent flavor-- a little bit of zing but not "spicy" (my son got this as a side too and LOVED it). The other dishes were all quite good, and that's saying something since I don't usually like tostones. I was impressed with the quantity of food in the bowl-- I was not even able to finish mine, though I came close. My family loved their empanadas, too. My wife also got the sweet potato cheesecake empanada, and it was a great dessert -- quite sweet and the sweet potato flavor was barely noticeable. They did note that 2 empanadas was not very much food since they are a little small, so plan accordingly. I wish we had more time to sit and eat. The food was really good and the service was wonderful. The cashier was very patient, answered all our questions, and gave recommendations. I got a side of collard greens and a Mojo chicken empanada, just one. It was so light and fluffy that I was upset with myself for not getting at least 3. And I am not a big eater. I found Boricua Soul @boricuasoul while visiting the American Tobacco Museum last week. This is totally an authentic Spaniah Soul Food fusion spot. I dont know if thats exactly what they call it but ive given it the name in honor of my two favorite types of cuisine. This Black Owned Business does a really great job of blending the two cultures. The empanadas were made fresh to order and were filled with a blend of several different spices and seasonings. The chicken empanadas were bountiful with a nice spicy twist to them. Oh but let's talk about this yummy sweet potato cheese cake empanada though. Man oh man that's the money shot! I really enjoyed the Boicua Soul Bowl as well.
