Came here briefly meeting up with a friend and got the chance to try my friend's dishes and they were good, very generous portion sizes. I ordered the mandelhoernchen and it was delicious, very chewy and plenty of almonds. Stop by for a quick snack. It was me and a friend first time, we are from out of town. We tried to check out what they had. While doing so, I gentle man there kept looking at us two and feels like he was rushing us also. Again this was my first time here so I wanted to see what there was to offer. I also received my drink, the seasonal Hugo Rose, at the same time - it was so light and refreshing & the perfect complement to a spring evening. Soon after we finished our appetizers, our plates were cleared and food was brought to the table. Two of our party ordered the schnitzel, an absolutely massive portion of perfectly breaded meat. Two more ordered the grilled bratwurst sandwich, which was absolutely spectacular both with and without sauerkraut. Finally, we tried their pigs in a blanket. Everything was beautifully prepared, warm, and delicious, not to mention generously portioned. While it took me a while to finally make it to the restaurant, I won't go so long without it again. I finally made it to try Guglhupf for dinner since I've heard so much about it. It's a hike for me so I had to set some time aside for this visit. I went on a Saturday night right before closing and it was fairly empty with easy parking. The restaurant was adorably decorated with heaters throughout the patio for cold evenings. I got the pork schnitzel with kasespätzle and salad. The schnitzel was pretty good; I loved the fresh lemon to squeeze on top. The kasespätzle was also very good. It did taste fresh like it was made in house. It's not overwhelmingly cheesy. The salad was so fresh, delicious, and had a nice vinegar tang. It was a large portion so I had enough leftover for the next day's lunch. Overall, good quality and everything was tasty. Sadly, the bakery was closed during my visit, but I'd like to try it another time. It was fun to try some German cuisine and work on my German pronunciation. read more

High prices for mediocre food and poor service. Had to get in line like fast food to order. Food brought to table but that was the only service. We had to get silverware, napkins, water, take out containers ourselves. No one came back to check or refill drinks. We had sausage plate, currywurst, shrimp dish and steak frites which the only thing good were the frites. No one liked their food out of 4 people. Finally made it here! I've been wanting to go for a bit to this place but the parking is always packed and the lines are insane. I took advantage of a little rain and came here to check it out. Funny enough, it was still busy but not as usual. I opted for a smaller latte and a chocolate croissant. I ordered at the inside counter where all the bakery items can be seen. I was told you can order at the outside counter for food. So next time, I'll try that. My latte was big even though I ordered the small. Perfect size for me and so good. It's hard to find a good latte, this one was just right. The chocolate croissant was big. I wish they would have toasted it but I didn't ask if that was even a possibility. I haven't been here in years. I've been to the bakery, but not the restaurant in a while. They changed it up a bit since Covid, now you order outside at a window and sit where you want to either outside or indoors and they give you a number to display at your table for the order. The food is still as good as I remember, plus it's one of the only places around where you can get German cuisine. I know the Döner is now the most popular food in Germany. So I went with the classic lamb doner . It was very tasty and I would recommend it to anybody. Next time I might have to try the chicken or the falafel instead. The Swabian potato salad is not the classic German potato salad because it comes with cucumbers but it was still good. It helps that the sauce on the side was delicious and a little spicy. This is an interesting restaurant where you place your order at the window, find your seat either inside or out, and get your own silverware, napkins, etc. The food is very good especially the Schweineschnitzel, Spätzle, salads, bread basket and Brezel (pretzel). I went at 8:00 a.m. for breakfast, and I was surprised at the crowd there. That's a good sign. But unfortunately, not all of their menu items are available in the morning. For example, they have a wonderful smoked salmon platter that is not ready yet in the morning. So if you want the best selection, go for brunch, instead. They messed up one of our orders, but they were very kind about it and brought us what we actually ordered. I'm not quite sure what the mixup was. We popped into the bakery side to grab a couple loaves of fresh bread and some pastries to snack on. Everything was delicious! The ciabatta was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside - it also stayed soft for about 5 days after buying it. I paired it with some olive oil and Italian herbs. My mom got the sunflower seed bread, which was perfect for grilled cheese sandwiches! I also tried the carrot cake scone and found it super flavorful and perfectly soft inside, very cinnamony.
