Scheduled an appointment for my 1k service and a front tire repair for my sportster. Whitney was helpful and they gave a rough quote on how much the service would cost before coming in. I came in a little late from my appointment due to work, but they still honored my appointment and had everything already ready. They noticed a screw in rear tire and called me before they worked on it, and even saved it to show me. They finished in a timely manner and they were very helpful and knowledgeable. Just picked my scooter up, the damn thing sounds and rides awesome! Many thanks to the guys at born free, specially for handling the broken bolt issue... You guys rock! The integrity and attitude with which they handled everything was definitely worth every penny... You can note the collective knowledge in this shop is above many others. I really appreciate the fact that they knew their own limit when trying to remove a bolt I broke in the frame, and were upfront about having tried and not wanting to cause any further damage and instead resorting to a machine shop. Bottom line, Alex, Deric, James, Bella and the other guys who's names I forgot but were just as helpful and important, are great guys and damn trustworthy. Update: today wasn't looking good....but I'll write details tomorrow Old review: I haven't even dropped my bike off yet to be worked on but I'm giving five stars just because Alex was so nice and knowledgable after I stopped in to price out a laundry list of items I needs serviced on my 2004 Road King with 32K miles. I asked him how much to replace the pushrods based on my past mechanics recommendation....Alex told me I don't have to ever replace those. He suggested hydraulic cam upgrade since I had to get a cam service. I asked about a gear drive which is more expensive and he told me it was a worst option than the hydraulic! After going through the whole list, I made an appointment to get everything done. I usually buy my own parts but after pricing it out it makes more sense to have Alex buy them...not much more if any and he guarantees them after installing. I came back home and called Harley Glendale to compare prices for the list: Harley was $150 cheaper for the hydraulic kit and install but Alex uses a the best cam kit which is about $150 more expensive so they were both the same. Installing brakes pads parts and labor...Alex was $60 while Harley was $130! Rear wheel parts and labor....Alex was $250 while Harley was $265 Oil change parts and labor synthetic....Alex is $75 while Harley is probably $130 or more.... So I'll save about $100 going to Alex on a $1650 job, the shop is clean and well organized, Alex is friendly, knowledgeable and used to work at Harley and all of his techs are Harley certified as far as I know (if they are not I believe he requires at a minimum of three years experience based on his application form on his website...yeah I looked to see:) Overall, I think by going to Born Free from now on I'll save anywhere from 10% to 50% based on the type of job in the long run, I feel like I can trust Alex more than a dealership OR my OWN mechanic at this point who would be 30% less in cost and 50% less in quality of work, Alex's turnaround time is reasonable for the scope of work performed at a quality shop. He recommended better tires than I've been using and suggested I used Ride On flat tire sealer for balancing and flat tire avoidance....I used to use Ride On...love it...my mechanic wouldn't work on a tire with it inside even though it's SO easy to clean. So glad to be able to go back to using it. Looking forward to the Commander II tires Alex recommended...i did a lot of research and they are one of the best tires out there with very long lifespan. I'll add to the review after the service on the 25th....based on my initial impression, I have a new and improved shop from now on! ....did I mention he has cool facial hair? read more

I took my recently purchased Harley to the Born Free Cycles team. They were professional, accommodating and did outstanding work. They took the time to listen actively and then fixed my problem. My experience at born free cycles was great. They helped me find the right tuner for my bikes exhaust and air filter set-up. They said they would order the part and have it the next day. Well unfortunately the part didn't arrive due to unforeseen circumstances. Well I got a call from born free and they said they would drive to the manufactur to pick up the part so it would be installed that day. Great staff. It was very nice experience. This shop is the best. If you take your Harley to any other shop you're doing yourself a disservice. They took care of my road king until I sold it and now have a custom fxr that has to have some special treatment. Alex helped redesign my exhaust and fabricated a pipe that solved my problem. I also had a LaPera seat that was fine but had me sliding all over the place and I needed a little more legroom. Alex suggested the perfect seat that gave me an inch or so more height and is way more comfortable. Everyone there is friendly and no question is too hard or too stupid. Go here, you won't be sorry. I had another indie shop dyno my road king before I found them and the guy told me that he had some problems but once he used a map for a 103 everything worked out fine. Problem really was it was a 103! Said so right on it. The dealer installed my shocks upside down when I replaced them. These guys are the real deal. read more

Had to either drop my 2012 CVO Street Glide or T-bone a pick-up truck. That little exercise did a lot of damage to the fairings, and right-side saddle bag. I was skeptical when Deric told me they could fix the fairing, instead of replacing it with a new one. I was literally stunned when I went to pick up my bike. There was no hint that the fairing was patched and re-painted. Several other people were equally amazed when I showed them where the damage had been. I was also quite surprised (and pleased) when Deric told me that the bill was a couple of hundred dollars less than the estimate. And to top it all off, they had touched up a couple of other blemishes while they were taking care of my bike. You are simply nuts if you do not take your bike here to be serviced or fixed. These guys are awesome. Went in for an oil change and safety inspection and they pointed out a pretty serious break issue. The parts were available nowhere in SoCal and they ordered and had them overnighted! They even gave me a discount to offset the surprise balance after finding the issue. This place is the best of the best. Karri was super nice and explained everything to me as far as what was being done to my bike and how much it would cost. They did not try to rip me off by offering me high cost parts. Gave me different options which would work for me. Mark knew exactly what my bike needed and showed me the parts changed and explained what it does and why it needs to be changed. He even tested the bike out himself to make sure everything was good before handing it over. The place looked good and all the staff were pros at what they did. I have had 2 of my bikes serviced here and all i can say is these guys are awesome. My first time i installed mufflers and an intake and i tried to tune it myself then took it to another shop i used to go to and ended up bringing it here. They tuned my bike and it ran great. The second time i brought in my sportster because i was having some issues and i could not figure out what is was. Brought it down and had them look at it. They had my bike for almost a week and like most customers i was impatient and called everyday, I'm kind of ashamed to admit it but i am just really impatient. These guys never once made me feel like i was bugging them and they were super friendly and understanding. Finally got my bike back and all i can say is thank you so much. My bike runs amazing and the charge was way lower than i expected. All im all i would recommend this shop to everyone and know that you are in goos hands here.
