He was fully booked and tons of work was waiting for him but he took his time to make sure i understand everything and even did some small settings on my bike so i can ride safe until my appointment with him. They quoted me $720.00 for two tires, tubes, and rim band, installed (and I presume also balanced, though they didn't say that). Glendale Harley-Davidson quoted me $504 (same tires, tubes and rim bands) over the phone, and told me there was a "special" which I presume is the Dunlop rebate (I think $60). Immediately on learning that I had a quote from Glendale H-D, Born Free sent me a txt: "Oh, yeah, we forgot, we're having a special right now, for only $544.79!...and there's a $60 rebate from Dunlop!" I said "Nope, I'll pick up the bike and do it myself." When I picked up the bike, they basically told me "Oh, you misunderstood the many text messages we sent." Maybe they do great work. I brought the wheel in and Mark was extremely helpful and spent more time than he expected, yet he succeeded in making my tire keep air in. When I ask what I owed he just smiled and said it was OK. This is when I wanted to tip him well, not just for his effort, but also for his success as it meant I would ride to work instead of taking the car! Great experience with these guys. Very friendly and informative. Was recommended by a buddy of mine to head over here. Had them do the 1000 mi oil change and tune up and they did it for a lot cheaper than the harley dealer quoted me. These guys worked as mechanics at the dealer previously so you know you're getting the same service at a wholesale price. To boot they also got this tree sap off my rear fender! Thought the stuff had ruined my paint and had resigned to the fact that I would probably just need a new paint job. These guys really took care of me. I ride a 2003 Harley Sportster Anniversary Edition. It's a (mostly) stock carbureted rig that I commute on every day. This is the only form of transportation I've got. Drove by just to check the shop out and ask how I could keep it a little cooler in stop and go. Deric took the time to hang out, talk shop, and make a few budget friendly recommendations. I left with an appointment to drop the bike off a week or so later. Ended up having the crew put on Vance and Hines Short Shots, a hi-flo oil filter, new air filter/intake, jet my carbs, tune the bike, run an oil change, and throw on some new black levers. They did the whole nine in a day and some change. Alex ( the owner ) and the rest of the guys did an amazing job. I drove down to San Diego and back the next day and it ran cooler, shifted better, and sounded great. These are the only dudes in LA I'll take my bike to now. At every step of the process they kept me informed, treated me like a bud, and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. Thanks Alex and Deric! See you guys again soon. read more

GREAT SHOP!!! From the minute I called Born Free I could tell the quality of this shop...Excellent! I was having some issues with my 2010 HD Road King that I had recently purchased (in 2015). I took it to ANOTHER SHOP in North Hollywood to have it looked over, fluids changed, and to address a particular issue I was having with the bike sputtering and cutting off at times. They looked over the bike, replaced fluids, plugs, etc. Said he didn't find any issues and the bike was ready to ride across country. The bike still had the same issues and I was down over $300. I called Born Free and was transferred to Alex, the owner. He didn't know me but spent almost 30 minutes talking to me over the phone and giving advice...all without the promise of making one cent! I brought the bike in and he immediately read the codes...which I had figured out how to do a few days earlier...and the first shop never did! He took the bike in and in a couple day had it all fixed! He was able to call HD and get it covered under my extended warranty which was just about to run out. Even if it wasn't covered the charges were only about $200. The attitude of the entire shop was nothing like the crusty experiences I've had at any HD dealer...oh and they're all HD Certified! The mechanics had no bad attitude as we expect...they were actually friendly! Alex's wife runs the office and she is also friendly, helpful, and efficient. To sum it up... IMO... if you have a HD and you're anywhere near Burbank, do yourself a favor and bring your bike to Alex and Born Free. It's not often that you actually get the feeling that you've gone to an HONEST mechanic...don't miss your chance! read more

The mechanics, the guy at the counter, they all acknowledged my existence. I took my Harley to them yesterday and the guy came out, checked it out and told me about an easy fix I could do myself. These guys are a 1 stop shop...as they can do repairs, builds, electrical, customs, paint, seats, etc... I had my 2017 Harley Street Bob serviced for basic maintenance and the cost was a LOT LOT less than what it would have cost me at a Harley dealership. Met the owner Alex.... and the guy is a just down to earth kinda guy. His wife too (Karri) was really welcoming. Although it was our first time there, it just feels like you've known them for some time ...Now that is customer service! Brought it here and they squeezed me in and got it done in time for a long weekend ride with my buddy, even though they had originally said it might be a couple weeks before they had time. Just happened upon Born Free Cycles this morning and I feel like I just struck gold! Upon arrival I was greeted by the very vocal yet sweet shop dog. Then the owners wife, a shop guy and even a couple customers proceeded to welcome me to the shop. I had a look around, saw some really rad bikes and was greeted by the owner, Alex. The guy instantly lived up to the genuine character description that the customers assured me he would be. We shot the shit a little bit and I took off on my bike, but something just just felt right about the place so I went back an hour later in my truck and picked up some brakes. Their prices are more than fair, even competitive to website pricing. I will definitely be returning soon and as often as I can!
