Some friends and I came here during Tulip week and we and two other people were the only ones there on a Tuesday eve at 7pm. It was still a bit chilly so we were unable to enjoy the very cute outdoor area. This would be an excellent place on a warm day for drinks and tapas. The staff is very accommodating and let us know exactly how they made the items we ordered and even brought out the cheese package so I could see where I could get my own. I can't wait to test out some of their flatbreads at home. My only complaint is that I'm about 7 states away and can't come visits this place again! read more

Went here based on Yelp reviews having never been in the area before. Every single thing we had was outstanding!! This is the best meal i have had in a long time! The menu is a bit small but each dish was superb! I hope they either add a few more items or change up their menu often because i'm pretty sure my family of 4 tried everything on the menu on our first visit. My family and I just enjoyed a wonderful meal at Borrowed Time. I had the meatloaf sandwich, my wife had the scallops and our son had the pork belly and gnocchi and they were all excellent. Service was topnotch also. I also really appreciate their COVID safeguards. Most of the tables are outdoors, which is the only way we'll eat at a restaurant right now. And you can reserve an outdoor table or one of the fire pit areas. I have never ha an experience at Borrowed Time that was ever less than exemplary! The food is always delicious and beautifully prepared, the chef is truly inspired. We tried Mole Fries, BT Tacos and the Crab Cake, every bite was perfect! We first found Borrowed Time last year when it was in Saugatuck. We couldn't wait to go back and were soooo disappointed to see it was gone. So then of course we were sooo happy to see it in Douglas. Anyway, with the menu and the decor, the minds behind Borrowed Time are able to create something so cool and unique. Our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about each item - food and drink - that we inquired about. My only suggestion to the powers that be re the menu is the chocolate chip bacon cookie needs to be tweaked a little. There's something off about it. But everything else is amazing! read more

We thoroughly enjoyed the Rose' All Day event today! The Foris Vineyards Rose' was our favorite. The small plates were awesome! Morrocan Watermelon Salad, Mushroom Tacos ( a real treat!) and Butter Chicken Meatballs - the names should be enough to stop here! Plus, some outdoor seating and great music, in these COVID times. LOVED THIS PLACE! 3 of us came in for wine and dinner. The wine list is wonderfully weird and eclectic. Our server (Tess? Tessa?) was so helpful in navigating the wine list and offering tastes of some of the lesser known options and made sure we all had something we loved. As for food, we had the Brussels sprouts (good), the special flatbread with pepper jelly & finocchiona (great) and the baked Brie (fantastic). Been coming to Douglas for years. This place is quaint with really good food and wine. Came here for a quick bite but will be back for sure.

The atmosphere in the place first drew me in. We were a group of 5 and we each ordered one thing off the menu to share. Everything tasted so flavorful and it was the perfect amount. After eating we went outside to play the giant lawn games (connect four, Jenga, corn-hole) and we had such a blast. This place is good for small groups and date night. Everything we had at this place was fantastic. Everything! The food was absolutely fantastic. The bone marrow creme brulee is a marvel. Is rich and light at the same time. Incredibly balanced and delicious. The buttered noodles are just about the perfect comfort food. The soup of the day was this wonderful curry fall vegetable creation that I could eat every day. The restaurant is relaxed and comfortable. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Really the only flaw with the restaurant is the location! I wish it was back home. This is my new favorite place in Saugatuck. The atmosphere is unique- like you've been welcomed into someone's summer home. There are yard games in the yard, along with some outdoor seating. But it's not done in a cheesy college-party type of way. All very causal and comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. And of course-- the food! The food we had was fantastic. I really enjoy the atmosphere of this place. The location is beautiful, with a great view of the water, with a cool breeze blowing. (See pic). Amazing atmosphere with live music, lots of yard games and friendly staff. The seating is scattered throughout the place so you are semi private but also in a group atmosphere. The space is funky and fun, the yard inviting, and most importantly so are the people.
